Chapter 58



Title: Post Mortem Nen...

Karla looks at Sub, the happiness in her heart is immeasurable. She had been to the depths of despair once she saw his head be blasted off. Even Angel's Breath Card can't heal someone from death. It just heals the body.


Still, Sub asks her if she wants to return home. Returning to the human world would be nice to her, she would like to go to the place where she felt like she had power. The Dark Continent has made her feel like she is just another bug… a weak one at that too.


She covers her eyes with her arm, so he doesn't see the fear in her heart. She knows that Sub can read someone like an open book just by looking into their eyes. 

"We will continue the journey if you want to." Karla says in the end, not wanting to stunt Sub, she can sense his Nen now. It is more domineering, he feels like a mountain. Heavy and unbreakable. 

'But is that enough? Am I leading us both to death by doing this? Should I stop him now?' Wonders Karla, doubting her decisions even more. Though she wants Sub to pursue his ambitions, she doesn't want him to die either.

Sub smiles at her gently, he can see through her. After all, why would Karla cover her eyes from him, except to hide something of course? He has known her for over a decade now, he can read her like an open book no matter what. 


In the end, though he sighs and says. "Okay then, we will continue our journey."


Karla nods at that, her eyes still covered with her arm as she lays down on the ground. Around them is a strange quietness, all the creatures had been killed due to Brion and Bambina. So for the first time, he and Karla can take a breath of relief. They are only on the shore still, so neither knows just how far they could go. But they are both sure of one thing, the Dark Continent isn't a place where they can stay for a long time.


BOOOM!!!


That is when a giant T Rex dinosaur-like creature breathing fire comes towards them. Sub looks at that and frowns, remembering the words Netero said: 'In the Dark Continent, there is no challenge… just survival.'


Currently, they have mostly seen just giant creatures and the giant centipede, was dangerous and Sub barely could stop himself from being controlled.


The fire breathing T Rex gets closer, so Karla gets up and is ready to get out of the way of the tsunami of fire. But instead, Sub grabs her hand and says. "Don't worry, I got this."


<Dirt Cheap: Golem>


His Nen moves around him, taking form in a tornado behind him. Forming a giant Earth Golem. So Sub jumps up, with Karla in his arms, and lands atop the Golem's head. 

Karla looks at the golem too, her eyes full of surprise. 'This doesn't feel like Transmutation… more like conjuration.'


There was also Emission used and Manipulation as the Golem brings his fist backward, creating winds, and then it punches the dinosaur. Though the golem is only half its size, the punch is powerful as it stops the dinosaur from breathing fire.

Boom!

The T-Rex stumbles and falls on the ground, after that the golem punches it in the head. But the flames burn off one of the Golem's arms. But it still can move as it bashes his foot in the T-Rex's mouth. The golem's last arm morphs into a nail and it bashes the T-Rex in the eye.


"GAARRRRR!!!" A loud growl of pain comes out of the dinosaur as it dies off. But Sub expends some of his Nen and the Golem's destroyed arm is remade. 


Sub smirks at this, his Nen ability is evolving. 'It is coming along nicely, to deal with a giant creature. You just have to create one too. As long as my Nen grows stronger I can make it bigger, and as long as I have Nen, the Golem will be able to regenerate, no matter what.'



Karla looks at Sub weirdly as he maliciously chuckled. 'Well, he seems to be having fun at least.'


She looks at Sub's Golem and thinks of something, wondering if she will ever be able to wield such power. She has seen things like this before, Netero's <100 Guanyin Bodhisattva> comes to mind. But even then, Sub can't do attacks faster than the speed of sound. Though the punches of his Golem are stronger.


That is when other giant monsters appear, from giant spiders, crabs, fish with four legs, a gorilla with four arms, and many more strange creatures.

 Sub shrugs at this, he can't take on all of them at once. So he grabs Karla, dispels his Golem, and runs off. He is a bug in the eyes of the giant monsters and a bug can easily become unseen once you lose sight of it. 

But instead of running away, he charges head-on. Using En to spread his Nen in a circular motion of 100 meters. He can sense everything within that circle, so he uses that to predict how the giant monsters around him will move and together with Karla's bandages being used to move around like spiderman. They were able to dodge all of the attacks, only the giant spider spitting out some acidic net gave them trouble, but even then the web hit some other animals and made them angry. So a brawl started amongst all of the creatures.


Booom!!!


That is when a giant mountain-sized earthworm appears from underground and swallowed a couple of the creatures as it was even bigger than them.

Karla uses one of her bandages to grab into the teeth of the worm and catapults herself together with Sub out of the way. He too wasn't idle as he created his Giant Earth Golem and let it go inside the mountain-sized Earth Worm. Planning to destroy the worm from the inside.


Still, he and Karla were able to escape as Karla uses her bandages to maneuver around the now brawling creatures.


Sub looks at the chaos around and smiles. 'This place…'







'...is quite amazing…'

A couple of hours later, they both maneuvered deeper into the Dark Continent. Currently, both Sub and Karla are atop a giant Octopus Tiger, a creature that Sub decided to name ao because it is a giant tiger head with many legs like an octopus. The lags are also like its claws, they decided to hitch a ride on it since it was moving deeper in the Dark Continent anyway.



Sub is laying on his back casually, using his arm to cover his eyes while in a state of Zetsu. He is recovering his Nen and stamina, as Zetsu keeps one's Aura inside it helps with recovery. Today has been a very long day for him.

Karla keeps watching in a meditating posture as her En covers around 50 Meters, just in case some type of invisible monster appears.


Suddenly her nose twitched slightly. 'Poison?!!'


"Sub!! Wake up!!" She yells, immediately Sub wakes up and is fully on guard. Karla has covered the lower part of her face in bandages. "It's poison gas… invisible…"


Her body stumbles slightly and she feels sleepy. This is strange as she has monstrous resistance to poisons that make her resistant to most of them.

She also wraps bandages around his mouth and ears. 

She jumps next to him while her body is fully covered in bandages, a green hue of Nen is released out of her. Sub realized that she is using her <Healing Badge> on herself. This ability of her uses Enhancement to enhance one's healing and that also includes their immune system. So she can detoxify herself. 


That is when a purple gaseous figure appears in front of them. 


"IA?" The creature says, with two white lights shining where its eyes would be.
