Hunter X Hunter: Grounded

Chapter 64

The hunter examiner looks at Hisoka with maliciousness in his eyes, and a smirk unnaturally widened, almost touching his ears.


"Kakakaka~ Hisoka~" The man's body trembles and his teeth grind against each other.


"Well, aren't you a very happy man." Says Hisoka jokingly. Using Nen without the man in front of him even noticing since he has concealed Bungee Gum by using IN to hide his Nen. Unless the opponent uses Gyo on their eyes, then they won't be able to see it. "I remember you… your name was… uhhh… Michael?"


The man's face has veins pop all over it as he looks at Hisoka with a hateful gaze. "You fu*ker, it Togari!!"


Fwosh!


Togari charges at Hisoka without missing a beat and the clown man smirks at this and points his palm at the man. "Can you go back a little?"


Togari's eyes widen as his body is dragged backward by an invisible force.

Boom!


His body smashes into the hard wall behind him. Hisoka smirks at this, he had Bungee Gum attached to Togari and the wall, so like an elastic band, the more Togari ran towards Hisoka, with more power he would smash into the wall.


Hisoka gets close and uses his knee to hit Togaru in the face.


Pow!


But Togari stops it with his palm. Hisoka is surprised at this. He sees the Hunter pull out a knife.


Fwish!


He jumps back, but a large gash appears in his chest. Hisoka still has a smirk, even as he gets injured. "You seem to have gotten stronger, at least now you are worthy of being called a Hunter."


Togari stands up and cracks his neck. "Yea, now we will see if you are worthy of being a Hunter."


Hisoka smirks at this, but in his mind, he was thinking about other things. 'Damn, the injury he gave still affects me. I couldn't even dodge a simple sneak attack like that. My cognitive abilities still haven't recovered.'


Though Hisoka is strong, he still only got punched by Sub around four hours ago. So his injury still affects him very much. 


'I am only around at 40% my usual power.' Contemplates Hisoka. 'At least this makes it more exciting.'


Nen bursts out of Togari's body. He is an Enhancer, but the Nen that comes off him has a dark hue to it and feels malicious. 


Fwosh!


Togari throws one of his knives at Hisoka. 
But he uses <Bungee Gum> to catch the knife easily, and attacks the man with his knife. Charging and slashing at him, Hisoka tries to take the man's head off, but Togari leans back but a small cut appears at his throat.



He jumps back and touches his throat where he sees blood come from. But as he wipes the blood away, there is no wound. Hisoka's eyes widened in shock. 'Regeneration?!'


He narrows his eyes and sees purple veins pop in Togari's throat where it just regenerated. 



Fwosh!


Hisoka charges again with the knife in his hand, Togari smiles maliciously and tries to charge at Hisoka, instead he stumbles as his feet couldn't move off the ground. Bungee Gum was keeping his feet glued to the ground. 


Fwish!


And just like so, Togari's head flies in the air. 


*sigh* "This was harder than expected." Says Hisoka, stumbling slightly due to the many sudden movements. He also feels a terrible headache. "Damn… he messed me up. It will take months to get back to normal."



A door opens, meaning that he has passed the Trick Tower exam, and he walks through it.

After he leaves the room, Sub comes out of the shadows. His fingers elongate with the tips turning into stingers, and it pierces Togari's dead body and separated head.


Immediately, they turn into husks like those of a long-deceased person. Sub's muscles get slightly tenser and his Nen increases too. 'As expected, one needs to have their deepest desires satisfied before I can absorb them. Plus unlike the infectees in the Dark Continent, my virus is too weak. This guy was killed by a simple decapitation. I guess I was more concerned with raising my power and body than improving the effectiveness of the virus. Once I go back to the Dark Continent, I must try absorbing the rest of those infected creatures, after all, they already had their desires satisfied.'


Sub's virus that he creates doesn't have the illusionary ability to create fake complex illusions that satisfy one's deepest desires.



So he has to do them in reality, and only that way can he control them, and only after that can he absorb them to raise his power. 'This power is not mine, but that doesn't mean that I can't beat it into submission.'


He looks at the camera in the room and gives the man on the other side a thumbs up.

Behind the camera was the master of the trick tower, confused by what he just saw. He goes to get a phone to report this happening but Karla appears from the shadows and her bandages wrap around the man.

"Karla -sama!!!" Yells the man with a devoted look on his eyes. 


"Keep this a secret." Says Karla as she just walks away and the bandages untie from the man. A smile was on her face. ‘Sub looked so cool back there~’

I easily break through multiple walls of Trick Tower and even meet up with some people in the cells, I just burst their heads like watermelons. The people in here were trash anyway, I don’t see a need to keep them alive. 


I would try to infect them with my virus, but their desires would be too complicated to complete and not worth the effort for the little power that they will give me. Damn, wish I had Meruem’s power. That way I would just have to devour creatures and my power would raise. Way easier than gouging through all of this. This just shows that even in the Dark Continent, Meruem would be something quite strong. Especially as he will keep learning all king of abilities and just continue to get stronger. 


Dsamn, if I had an ability to create illusions, no, more correctly, I need someone to have the ability, Karla would put them under her control and it would be just like me having it. 


I think back on the anime, but I don’t remember anyone with an illusion ability. Am I missing someone? Maybe just an unimportant character would be okay for me. The giant creatures who were under the grotesque deer’s control could all use illusions. But when I devoured the centipede I didn’t get that ability of it.



Just how do I get that for myself? If the grotesque deer was still alive, maybe I could try devouring him? But, is my will strong enough to beat the deer at his own game. I just need to stop myself from falling into its illusions, but if it could make them better than the centipede could, then I am fu*ked. No, that isn’t the right strategy, since the centipede could muddle my thoughts once I was infected. It made me forget that my family was dead and that I wasn’t in my first life anymore. 


The main source could just out outright manipulate my memories, thankfully at the time that I meet it, I was already under the control of the centipede. The Dark Content is a hard place to survive and remembering the dragon, the deer seemed like a mosquito to it, in both size and power.


I wonder if the deer is already dead? After all, it was inside the volcano and swallowed by the dragon, whose body is probably hotter since it could live inside a volcano without difficulty.
