Harry Potter: Reborn as Lockhart

Chapter 9



Title: How Talented?!?

-Madam Hooch POV-


I narrowed my eyes at the young Lockhart. I could see it… never in my life have I seen something like this. Of how easy it was to fly for him. His body was naturally positioned in a way of absolute balance as he slowly hovers around with his back lying on the broom. The first thought that comes to my head when I see that is BRILLIANT.


He is truly a very bright child. Even though he has not been at Hogwarts for even a week. We teachers like to talk at their table while eating. I have heard some compliments from the others about Lockhart's brilliance. But I never imagined that he would be so good at flying also. 



That talent would be wasted if it isn't used correctly. I need to have a conversation with Flitwick about this. 


But first I am still a teacher so I can't act soft in front of my students. So I just narrowed my eyes at him.  "What are you doing mister Lockhart… you are interrupting the lesson."


He turned to look at me. Then a smile that showed his perfect white teeth appeared on Lockhart's face. "Ah professor… sorry if this is interrupting the lesson… that was not my intention at all. I just thought I should try this. I never tried it but flying seems pretty easy."


As expected… a natural born flyer… but he seems to be even better than Potter… way better. "I understand that you didn't mean it mister Lockhart. But I will still need to have a conversation with your head of house. So please come with me."


His seemingly perfect smile falters a little. Then he says. "Of course professor. I just hope that I am not in any trouble."

Then I just warned the other students that they shouldn't try anything stupid and took Gilderoy with me to Flitwick's office. As we are walking there we climb some stairs and… it seems like the stairs are being moody today. So it took us a while until we arrived at the hallway where Flitwick's office is. 



As we are doing so I notice Headmaster Dumbledore who seemed to be walking around here also. Then he just looks at us and his eyes seem to twinkle… they always seem like that don't they. 


Then when he sees us he just smiles and says. "Ah Hooch and mister Lockhart. A pleasure to see you… anyway it seems like young Lockhart here is in trouble and I must say this must be some record to get in trouble in only the first week of starting Hogwarts. Ah youth… I remember my days when I was your age. I was always wandering around…"



When Dumbledore started talking I didn't know what to do. Since it would be rude to interrupt him since he is the Headmaster and all that. I just let him continue. I look at Lockhart and he seems excited. 



He seems to be paying attention to anything that comes out of the Headmaster's mouth.

The Headmaster was reminiscing in his memories for six straight minutes. And when he stopped talking I thought this was my chance to somehow get out of this situation… but Gilderoy decided that he had a different plan when with a bright smile on his face he said to the Headmaster. "Professor Dumbledore I must say that meeting you sir is one of my dreams. When I read about you I was always fascinated with your life details. I remember when I was young this one time I asked my mother to buy me a book about your biography… she said no and I cried for a whole week. I must say that it was quite sad at the time. Though I did buy it when I grew up… oh yeah."


Then Lockhart pulled out some small notebook with a quill and said to the Headmaster.

-Gilderoy Lockhart (MC) POV-



When I pulled the small notebook from my robes pocket I also pulled out a quill and asked Dumbledore. "Can I have your autograph please."


He just smiled with a mischievous look in his eyes, he just signed my notebook slowly.


We already made an unspoken deal to take as much time from Hooch as we can. Dumbledore knows that no matter what is going on around a person must have fun. And that is true, even if you hate doing something you need to find some fun in it. I bet that Dumbledore fights death eaters by night and he just messes around at day. I also do like acting like I am the next Merlin. I want people to admire me, build statues of me and talk about me for generations. 


Though I also noticed that he didn't immediately use Legilimency on me I am not good enough if he went full power on me to try and read my mind… my Occlumency barriers would break in seconds… but it also would be very hard for him to find any useful memories from there. I have already hidden my deepest secrets in a way that... it is impossible unless he just knew what he was looking for and spent hours upon hours looking for it andI guess he isn't as immoral. After all he is just an old man that is scarily smart and monstrously powerful. 



And the stairways acting like that I can already guess that it is bullsh*t and he probably controlled them to make us late just so he could meet us here.

And just like that we spent another seven minutes talking, much to the annoyance of madam Hooch. Until it seems like she is about to scream at us. So Dumbledore then left and said goodbye to us.



I must say that between Dumbledore and Voldemort… I would definitely choose the latter to be my enemy. Just from these small conversations I understood that he most likely doesn't even need all of the magic prowess that he has to make someone do something for him.




Anyway I entered Flitwick's office and saw that it had a lot of dueling trophies and photos of him at different dueling competitions. 


When he sees us he says. "Oh hello Hooch did young Lockhart get into trouble. I must say that it is a surprise for me. I never expected that out of young Lockhart."

(The MC had his first meeting with Dumbledore… since we saw it from madam Hooch's perspective we don't really know what went on in there.)
