Harry Potter: Reborn as Lockhart

Chapter 14

Title: Drug- I mean fairy dust...

….

After the Time Travel sh*t… nothing really out of the norm happened. And that is how my first month of Hogwarts School went, but I still couldn't get my mind off the Time Travel… now that I have proof that I have succeeded, I need to work hard to reach that success. I need to be able to reach at least Voldemort's power level by the time Harry Potter comes to Hogwarts.

I remember from my first life reading fanfics about the protagonist being able to challenge Voldemort's power in just a year in this world. But no one truly understands the power Voldemort has, it was thought that bringing back the dead was almost impossible and he still easily brought hundreds of them by the creation of Inferi. It was thought that flight without a brom would be impossible but he still did it… and no the charms woven into brooms do not work on clothes, shoes, wood armor or anything like that.

Creating more than one Horcrux was considered impossible too… but he made 7 (8) of them without becoming a vegetable or completely destroying his soul. Also his body was tireless and ageless despite his grotesque appearance. I still believe that he would have made a brilliant Wizard if he hadn't created Horcruxes… they interfered with his psyche and made him impatient in some of his decisions.

But still no matter how great Voldemort was at his prime, there is someone in the same castle as me, who had so much potential he never even reached his prime since he had to restrain himself from craving power… he is Dumbledore. From reading the books I always thought that he was senile at best or evil at worst. I didn't understand the brilliance of his thinking… but while I have been in this world I have had time to study things like Divination and Prophecies. People usually try to change the latter, after all who wants to know that their fate is set in stone, but Dumbledore did none of that… he USED a prophecy and made Harry Potter immortal and made him a pseudo Horcrux, the prophecy said that neither can live while the other survives. But Voldemort couldn't kill Harry since as long as he was alive Harry would live… he was in Dumbledore's checkmate all along ever since he decided to resurrect himself during Harry's fourth year. The prophecy literally had ONE ending... Voldemort had to die... in the end... Dumbledore won that battle... not Harry Potter, a teen who isn't even that good at magic.

Dumbledore is a genius man, who tries to do good in his own way. But he isn't omnipresent either, he obviously didn't know about Harry's  abusive home. After all even if he was manipulative, children with Harry's circumstances would usually grow to be horrible people. So Dumbledore wouldn't take that risk.

Honestly… that is the type of thought process I can't even comprehend. If I hadn't read the Harry Potter books and had foreknowledge, I would have never known of this..

Anyway during this first month in Hogwarts, I did everything perfectly with Top Grades at everything I tried. I already started having a reputation as the perfect kid, who did no wrong.

Also my match with the other kid, well he is physically older than me by almost 6 years so calling him a kid wouldn't be fair but still…

The Quidditch games were coming around soon, so my competition with him to see if he can keep his chaser's position will probably be held soon, since time is running out. Honestly though… the chances of me winning aren't as high as I would like… I have around a 30% chance to win… after all he has years of experience on me… but I am obviously going to cheat so that chance bumps up to around 50-70% the chances would be even higher but I need to be careful to not get caught cheating or that will ruin the reputation I worked so hard to build.

But if I complete a certain alchemic ritual from the book it will give me a 90% chance of winning against him.

….

When it became dark I decided to go to the Room of Requirement and start the process. I already had all of the ingredients.

I draw a transmutation circle on the ground, as it was described in the book I got from future me. The book was apparently written by Nicholas Flamel describing basic and intermediate alchemy. I still don't know how, future me got a hold of this book… well... this book looks really new so it was probably a copy written by future me when he had the original himself.

After  I finished drawing the circle, I just took a vial of dragon blood from my bottomless bag, I poured it on the middle of the circle. I take out some pixie dust and slowly dust it around the chalk circle. Then I pull out my wand and say. "Mediocris Pulvis."

Then the circle shined for a little and the dragon blood in the middle turned into some type of gold dust. I slowly take it and scoop it up… about two full spoons of it. This is what is called fairy dust...

This seems about right… now to test if it works. On the side of the room a table appears as I wanted. Then I put a spoon of dust and line it up… then I… snort it…

Soon everything starts moving slowly… no my perception has accelerated… yes this is the exact effect of fairy dust when it is snorted. I would have attempted to give myself eagle eyes but that would definitely be noticed by Madam Hooch… since she literally has the same ritual done to herself.

I know that snorting the fairy dust seems like some type of drug and in reality it has no effect and it just makes me high but… that is not the truth. Unlike drugs it's speed of perception effect is real and this can't be detected by any diagnostic magic spell.

So NOW I am ready to compete against other people with 90% certainty…

….

A/N: I know that Time Travel might seem like a bad decision to make for the story, but if someone had time travel they would definitely go back in time to help themselves and it would start an endless cycle of doing so. Also I couldn't leave time travel out since my MC is definitely curious enough to study it… I wanted to make this story realistic and readable… also don't worry the time travel thing won't really have any big effect on the story after this.
