Title: Fate Favors Me...
____
-??? POV-
Edel that was the name I was given by my mother, the woman who birthed me. Being born to a Noble Lord would have been seen as a blessing by many. Except that I was born as a bastard, someone birthed out of wedlock. My mother was a maid in the mansion of the local lord and already married to another man.
The looks that many people described as Noble and handsome had been a curse to me. I didn't look anything like my mother's husband, or the man I used to call father. Instead, my looks resembled the man who lived in the castle, I looked so much like him that it was uncanny. Anyone could then make the connection of what had happened to my mother who worked as a maid in the mansion.
My mother's husband beat me for being born and my mother for her infidelity. This world was a cruel place, and one day she was beaten close to death, even when I went to my biological father to ask for justice and help… he only asked back. "Who are you?"
In the end, I was kicked out and my mother died. Her last words were for me to grow happy and healthy. This world wasn't a place where good people could live happily, what kinds of Gods let those cruel Nobles in power?
Killing my father and his family brought me the greatest of joys, seeing his cruel face devolve when his 'true' children were killed. After that, I was without a goal when Camilla approached me.
My life hadn't been a worthless one spent on revenge. Even though I wasn't talented, I trained harder than anyone and through two hundred years, my strength grew. Also, my Unique Skill [Overpower] was finally revealed later on in my life. For a weakling like me, I would have normally died without ever even discovering my skill.
But now I had the potential to become the strongest, [Overpower] allowed me to subordinate anyone who I defeated in battle. They would be loyal and never betray me. This was a Skill that I didn't know I had most of my life.
Once Camilla was rumored to have been weakened, I knew that it was my chance. While my skill [Overpower] was powerful, if people knew I had it they would band together to take me out. Even Camilla wouldn't be able to resist her greed and would do anything to take this Skill away from me.
Still, though, this Coup happening was my chance. Camilla's subordinates were mostly loyal, and the ones who weren't wouldn't work for me. So after having the Legendary Rank Vampires on the weaker side of the spectrum 'spar' with me, I won and added them to my group. This went on, and with the numbers adding to my team, each battle that I won gave me even more people on my side.
If I were able to defeat the Vampire Queen while she was in a weakened state and got her under my control… that would put me at being the most powerful person on this Continent. After all, with Julie's disappearance, Camilla was the one on top now.
Also, Alex will be coming here, a man like him won't be able to resist his greed. He probably thought that I only had a small number of the Vampires on my side, but it was the opposite, all of the Vampires were now on my side. The skill that I knew about but hadn't used till this moment, patiently waiting for decades was worth it.
Someone like me, with careful planning, became destined that I will one day take over this Continent as its strongest creature. Still though, when Alex shows up it would be better to not make the Vampires that he knows would never betray Camilla appear. That way he won't even get a clue of what was bound to happen.
"Yomu, you go and hide," I ordered the purple-haired woman who had now had her will taken over by my ability. "Also take the others who were known to be very loyal to Camilla."
My orders were absolute and she nodded, this skill was useful, but I wasn't about to underestimate Alex, someone who had taken down Julie a.k.a The Headmistress with just his schemes.
Someone like that was dangerous and everything needed to play out as if it was a normal coup against Camilla. Everything should play out to plan, and even if Alex could see the future the involvement of the Giant Serpent should have stopped any outcome due to his actions being unpredictable. In another alternate timeline, where the Giant Serpent hadn't appeared, then there would be no action on my part.
So even with someone who could gaze into that future, it would be fruitless to try and predict my actions. Everything was going according to plan, there was no loophole in this scenario that I had spent over a century calculating. Even the God of Fate would be unable to see through it.
It was a perfect plan born out of my ambition and patience.
____
In an hour, the whole castle except the room where Camilla resided was taken over. Even now I didn't want to be careless enough to infiltrate the room of someone her caliber. I hadn't come so far just to end up dead due to being careless.
So I was just outside of the door with a magic circle drawn on the floor.
Fwosh!
Suddenly purple light came out of it and it slowly formed into a tall, handsome silver-haired young man with red eyes. I had heard how homunculus was perfect in their looks, and it truly was unnerving watching Alex's body, it truly seems like something fake, a puppet created to inhabit his soul.
His red eyes looked at me, there were no emotions in them. It was very creepy, especially with the eerie aura around him. He suddenly smirked. "Oh? So you are a Magic Knight? A combination between Warrior and Mage. That's a rare thing, even if you can't use Ki, your stats should be monstrous, especially with Buff Magic."
Damn… he was able to see through my Class with one look. A Class was something that could only be seen by a Divine Crystal, yet he saw through me like a ghost.
"Yes," I agreed with him, there was no reason to refute his analysis. "You are correct. However that wasn't why I called you here, since you will get 50% of Camilla's treasury as a reward, then we need you to open the doors to her room and check for any traps."
"Hm?" He tilted his head in confusion. "There are only four of you, how were you able to defeat the other dozen or so Legendary Rank Vampires?"
"By doing a surprise attack," I reasoned, but what worried me was that he kept asking questions. Someone as sharp as him would notice something if he looked into it. "It's only due to our Vampire build that we were able to come this far. Sadly we had to consume some of our brethren to heal the injuries we got along the way."
Alex shrugged at my words, it seemed like he had gotten a little careless after getting powerful. But I don't fault him, it's like that to everyone, especially someone like him who grew so strong in such little time. It would be a surprise if he didn't have at least a little arrogance in him.
Though what he did next surprised me even more as with a casual stroll, he walked towards Camilla's door.
The door was made out of ancient wood and had a Cat's head carved in it. Something that seemed terrifying, but childish at the same time. It perfectly represented Camilla, the woman who could be scary at one moment and childish at the next.
Baam!
Alex casually kicked it open. "Hello there," he greeted joyfully as if he had come to see an old friend. Camilla was there sitting on a chair, with one leg over the other, her arms folded and an amused smirk on her face.
As expected of her, even while facing a dire situation, she will hold her head high in pride. It's such a shame that I will have to subjugate her, but after I get her under my control, Alex will be next.
