The Game of a Blood Mage

Chapter 90

Title: Change...

____
After Alex opened the door, he had a huge smirk on his face as he looked at Camilla standing there proudly.

Edel on the other hand waited patiently for the confrontation against both of them to happen. He was confident that Alex would be able to put up a fight against the Vampire Queen and injure her.

Then Edel would enter the fray with his people and use [Overpower] by defeating both of them and turning the two into his subordinates. With them, on his side, he would also get access to the Soul Sect army, something that had grown into the biggest military force currently.

"You almost made me believe that you were really weakened," said Alex, and those words made Edel feel like the world suddenly fell on top of him.

"W -What?" Asked the blonde Vampire, unable to comprehend the situation.

Camilla on the other hand smirked too, mirroring Alex. "Hm? You thought I was weakened? That's a shame, I always assumed you were smarter than that."

"Obviously she just used this situation to see if any of her subordinates were hiding any powerful skill, or secret," Alex explained the situation. Camilla pouted at his words like a kid annoyed when being found out at hide-and-seek.

"So how long have you known about this?" She asked, still annoyed at being found out by him. It had gotten harder to catch Alex by surprise nowadays and it wrung a lot of the fun out of the situation.

"Since the time the Dark Mage declared that he was joining you," he answered, a mysterious smirk on his face as his eyes glistened with a scheming light that he didn't bother to hide.

Camilla's put got even more serious and a small beam came out of her hand, obliterating Edel's chest.

"No, I… can't die like this…" the dying vampire muttered. "Mother… please… I…" tears welled in his eyes as he thought of the life he used to have. Finally, Edel started having things go his way, but life had another cruel trick on him to play. Giving him such a powerful Skill, yet never getting any real profit out of it.

Alex looked at the guy with cold eyes, this Vampire hadn't been anything big in-game. But due to his cautiousness, Alex surveyed the island and noticed that a huge number of vampires had joined him. Something unnatural since most of Camilla's subordinates were quite loyal to her.

This situation could have turned sour fast if he hadn't been cautious and paranoid about everything. Alex still didn't know the exact Skill the dead vampire used to control others, but it was something absolute, a Mythical Class Skill. One that was usually given to people who are reborn in this world. Technically, his Gamer Interface could be considered a skill that was made when his soul had materialized in this plane.

"Sooo…" Alex drew on. "Where is the Dark Mage?"

Camilla heard his question, but her attention was all on the new subordinates who just got back their free will. They had all fallen unconscious. "Well, the Dark Mage, he is… somewhere where he will be more useful. Also, don't ask questions to which you already know the answer. Are you just here to brag about how you saw through my Master plan?"

"No," Alex shook his head. "What I am after is another thing, but can you tell me how it feels having the Dark Mage's future-sight skill? You foresaw this bad event, didn't you? The only way this could have happened was if you got the Dark Mage's future sight that allowed him to see bad events about himself."

The unspoken truth was also about how Camilla got access to that skill. After all, she can only get access to it if she devoured the skull's user and killed him.

But Alex also had another view to look at it from, the Dark Mage got tricked into joining Camilla. He had wrecked his brain to figure out how she could do that, after all, the man himself wouldn't have joined if he foresaw his death. It could only be done so if Camilla had broken through Legendary Rank and become an Immortal.

But Alex was 100% sure that at the time she hadn't reached Immortal Rank. This could only mean one thing, Camilla's future Immortal Rank Class could change the past and help her past self. Technically she had tricked the Dark Mage, but it hadn't been the present her, but her from the future.

This also created an unreliable prophecy, Camilla will undoubtedly reach that phase where she can interfere with the past because it had already happened.

'What a cluster of mess, she has used all of this to guarantee her success and even got herself a skill that could see through danger.' Contemplated Alex, by now even though he had seen through all of her moves. It was already too late. In the Game, Camilla had been mysterious after reaching the Immortal Rank and he had no idea what abilities she had. But by now, he had deduced that it wasn't something pleasant.

Alex was a little sad since from now on he wouldn't dare provoke Camilla or use her. After all, if he tried, her future version would give out a warning to the Present Camilla.

That was when it hit him like lighting, an option he hadn't thought of before. By his calculations, it should have taken Camilla a couple more years before she reached Immortal Rank, but with the help of her future self for guidance, she…

"Camilla, have you already achieved beyond Legendary Rank?" Asked Alex, his curiosity was unquenchable.

"What do you think?" She answered his questions with a question of her own. Not giving him even an ounce of information. Suddenly her mischievous smirk turned into a genuine smile. "Also I am glad that you came all this way to protect me."

That made Alex's heart clench once more in panic, Camilla saw through him like an open book again.

When he had come here, even though he agreed to help Edel, the guy wasn't good news so he planned to work together with Camilla to take the man down.

For the first time in a while, Alex felt afraid. He had met someone who could tell the future even better than him, and that was scary. Especially since from now on, while he would be working with faulty future knowledge from the game. Camilla would be getting updated knowledge from her future self.

Though he didn't express anything on the outside and he kept his heartbeat steady, Camilla smirked and her eyes gleamed with amusement. "Are you scared of me now?"

"Scared? No," answered Alex. "Instead I am terrified of you."

He was being truthful about this one. There was no use lying to her anymore as she would most likely be able to tell.

____
-Camilla POV-

Watching Alex squirm nervously was quite amusing. Well, I wasn't watching him directly as he didn't show anything of what he was feeling. But it was amusing nonetheless.

Still, though, I was grateful to him. If he hadn't helped me in the future version, then I wouldn't have ever been able to get this strong and would've died instead. But with that, it allowed an alternate future where I could send information from that future.

Heh, Alex saved my life… I have always assumed that he was a man who only looked after his benefits. And if the benefits were high enough then he would kill me. Well, he doesn't need to know that he saved my life in an alternate future since that would just make him use that against me. But it was something I should keep in mind.

____
A/N: Changing the past is impossible since it already has happened. Meaning that even if someone went to the past, they wouldn't be able to chage anything, because if they were then it would have always been so. Camilla's new Class deals with the past, present and future, it will be shown in the future.
