The Game of a Blood Mage

Chapter 91

Title: Disappear...

_____
Alex looked at Camilla with a baffled expression at first and then he smiled. "So? What now?" The questioning look on his face told more than words could say. "You broke through your limits and achieved something no human in recorded history ever has."

"I am not a human though," she said cozily, looking at him with an intense gaze. "But… you wouldn't have done something like capture one of my subordinates and experimented on them, right?"

He looked at her with a poker face on. "Well, doing something like that wouldn't escape your sight. After all, even if a Vampire disappeared, then you would immediately know. So no, it's just that I had a theory about how Vampires worked and if they were really when you sold them out to be."

Alex never revealed whether he did it or not, he just spoke words that Camilla knew had a 50% chance of being lies. Any kind of information revealed could be used against him.

"Oh?" Camilla on the other hand seemed quite amused by his intrigue. "You wanna know what Vampires are? Well, the words should be self-explanatory, no? You have watched movies before right?"

Alex nodded, "Yeah, but you were the first Vampire. To me, it seems like you created something and just named it Vampire due to the characteristics. Before you, there never existed a Vampire undead. So I have always been a little curious, what are Vampires and how do they play a part in your plan?"

"Hmm…." She looked at him intently and then gazed at the corpses of the person who had betrayed her. "… that would be a very complicated explanation. It's not something I could answer so easily, so how about you ask me another question?"

Alex got the memo that she didn't want to answer that question, so instead, his gaze turned steely and he asked one last time. "Then what is your connection with the one who corrupted this Continent?"

"Hey, hey, hey, now you are asking really dangerous questions here," Camilla warned him. "I like you, Alex, we are birds of a feather. But asking me something like that is dangerous."

He understood what she meant by her wording, someone was observing them. Even though Alex couldn't sense anyone around, he decided to believe her. But he wouldn't play along with Camilla in her games.

"Yet… you haven't refuted my claims that you were involved," Alex didn't step down. As he had just learned some very critical information. "You kinda messed up all my plans for the future, so I am a little mad at that."

Camilla's gaze didn't change. "There are some things that you shouldn't try and figure out. I am warning you…"

Alex didn't say anything and teleported away, leaving her alone in her throne room. "This has gotten a little messed up."

"Tell me about it," came the voice of an old man with a long white beard as he simmered in through the air. His eyes had a child-like innocence in them as he looked worried. "Alex is too smart for his own good and his knowledge… that was even more troublesome."

BOOOM!!

The air around Camilla got heavy and her eyes shone a startlingly murderous red, she understood the innuendo he was going for. "You can't kill him, Dream God, I will destroy you if-"

"Don't worry," he waved Camilla off, unbothered by her outburst. "I did bring him to this world, remember? So he is playing to my tune for the moment."

What wasn't known to most is that every reincarnated person was brought here by a divine being. There were no exceptions to that, though some Gods didn't communicate with their reincarnated people.

Then the Dream God's eyes handed and he looked at her with a cold look, the child-like innocence gone in an instant. "But you wouldn't do something like fall in love with him, would you?"

She didn't say anything and just stared at him unafraid. "So what? My business is my own. You might have brought him here, but my best is still on Alex killing you in the end."

The God of Dreams only smiled, "Yeah, but you don't know what Alex had lived before this. His life was a mess, and I picked him for that exactly. Going through a lot of trouble to infiltrate his world."

"You interfered in someone's life from there? The Overgod won't like that, you can take someone but never alter their memories or interfere with anyone's life in there." Camilla narrowed her eyes, her eyes turned into a dark crimson red like a blood ruby. Thousands of scenarios playing in her mind, these weren't speculations, instead, they are alternate futures, all real and existing.

The Dream God frowned. "Don't try looking into my future, I hate that."

"Why?" Asked Camilla, a mischievous look on her face. "You have something to hide? Now that makes me wanna look into it even more."

"Nah," the God shrugged. "You just won't like what you see there. It's quite something, even for you."

"Oh~ so you are a control freak?" Camilla asked as her gaze wandered into the man's past.

"That's a bit excessive," the old man shrugged nonchalantly. "Still though, my warning stands, if you look any further, I can guarantee you that only regret will come after it."

Suddenly Camilla winced, and the Dream God looked surprised. "Well, that's a little shocking, one of your alternative selves stopped you…"

Camilla's new Class was called Fate Mage, or the Mage of Fate. Something of an existence that was outside of fate and could control it. Her original fate today was to be saved by Alex, but that had all changed when she evolved recently. Everything morphed, and the strings of fate moved to her whims and wishes.

While she couldn't directly make someone do something, she can manipulate the events around the people to eventually make them do it. For example, to make a Hero, you would need a tragic backstory, kind parents who die, possible trauma. Creating those events and you would have a Hero with his fate woven by someone like Camilla.

Though this Ability had a major weakness too, and while it was only accessible to Camilla. That had other meanings, as fate was an absolute power that existed in the Multiverse. So, Camilla could interact with alternate selves and those same selves could also interrupt her power from working.

"Also, don't forget," the God of Dreams muttered as his figure started simmering away. "The version of him you fell in love with isn't this one. Don't confuse yourself with your alternate selves either."

Camilla clenched her teeth in anger, her fangs grew as her bloodlust rolled out in droves, making everyone in Shadow Island shake in fear. While the Dream God said that easily, to her who had by now gotten memories and feelings from her alternate selves, it was a whole other deal. Especially with the version where Alex saved her life.

What she felt from that version of herself was true love. Someone willing to give their life for that object of love. Of course, this was Camilla, so she won't be easily influenced, but she was seeing Alex in a more positive light as a result of his actions.

At the same time, Alex was in the Soul Sect, standing atop the mountain.

"That's too long," muttered Alex, looking at the farmers down in the fields working. "Tch, I thought I would get a useful Skill with this."

He had noticed that Camilla seemed to be distracted by something and he took advantage of that. Initially, her involvement with the corruption had been only a suspicion, now it had become the most probable scenario.

'Which of the Gods would get involved with something like this?' Alex wondered, but the problem was that there were many candidates.

There were too many of them to count, every one of them would benefit in some way if the Mortal World became like this. At the same time, they would also lose many followers.

Unless they didn't care about their worshipers? As soon as that thought came to his mind, Alex understood that the main culprit had to be one of the high Gods that could get Worshipers' Prayers even from other parts of the Multiverse. So this Mortal World would be just a drop in the bucket.

That lowered the possible people involved who were able to do something like this to only twelve of the High Gods being main suspects. Each of the Gods had their own goals behind the scenes… but the most suspicious one was… Ariel.

Why her? Because she wanted to be the one and only God in the world. And the only way to kill a God was through killing all his worshipers where they enter a state of slumber, their miracles wouldn't work. After that, through many generations, those Gods would be forgotten and they would truly die then. A God could die only when no one remembered them anymore in the Mortal World.

Of course, there were some exceptions, but that was the easiest way to kill a God forever.

Plus, this apocalypse would be the perfect way to do so. Not many people were keen on warshoping minor Gods once hell on earth came.

With his analysis done, Alex looked at the sky. The Gods had been getting in his way as of recently, and to him, it didn't matter whether it was the Gods or the Devils. Anyone who got on his way… had to disappear…

A/N: There are always things going behind the scenes, and just because Alex stops and goes to train for years like before. Others wouldn't stay still and wait for him to come back. He isn't Omnipotent and nothing is what it seems like, so don't assume anything yet.

P.S: Yes, the other powerful guys and gals also have their own deals that Alex wasn't aware of.
