The Game of a Blood Mage

Chapter 93

Title: An Emperor Lost in Time...

___
Ya Xiao, the Human Emperor of a long lost past laid in meditation inside his well-furnished but humble room. He had already advanced by leaps and bounds, it took him only a couple of years to go from nothing to almost entering Legendary Rank.

The air around him exploded outwardly and the walls in his room cracked. Suddenly he floated up and his Ki exploded and then came back into his body, forming a core just above his stomach.

Ya Xiao was in a hurry to get stronger. After all, humanity had entered a crisis. If he took too long, by the time he became strong enough there wouldn't be humans to save.

He remembered how the humans had defeated the Beast Emperor in the past. It was a bitter struggle and although history books said that the Human Emperor had defeated the Beast Emperor in combat… that was the history written by the winners. The reality was different.

Ya Xiao, even at the peak of his strength, had never been able to defeat the Beast Emperor. No… at the time, he didn't remember even inflicting a heavy wound on that monster. The real difference in power was insurmountable at the time and had only grown wider by the now.

He sighed in his heart, by now he couldn't catch up to the Beast Emperor anymore. The tricks they had pulled 2000 years ago won't work a second time.

Alex and Ya Xiao had made a deal, the Blood Mage would deal with the corruption while Ya Xiao would defeat the Beast Emperor, or hold the monster back till the Corruption was dealt with and humanity could gather together to deal with one problem at a time. But even that was hard.

*cough*

Ya Xiao coughed out a black liquid that smelled terrible. His blue eyes shone with intense light and then settled back down a second later.  "Finally reached Legendary Rank again."

He smiled thinly. With the treasures Alex had given him, Ya Xiao's body now was built in a precise manner, better than in his previous life. It was like the work of an artist and scientist combined.

"My bones are stronger than adamantium." Ya Xiao noted, wondering if this fast progress was fast enough.

"Move on with the time old man,” Alex's voice came out from one of the walls of the room as his figure slowly shimmered in. “Mythril is now the strongest commonly used metal,"

Ya Xiao was unbothered by this and calmly said. "I told you to stop coming into my room so suddenly. Ever heard of knocking?"

"Knocking? If I did that it would take three seconds for you to respond and for me to come in. On average I come into your room once a day, that is 365 times a year, meaning I would waste eighteen minutes a year just knocking. Does that sound like something worth my eighteen minutes to do?" Alex explained in a very detailed manner. "Do you know what I could do with 18 minutes of free time?"

"Yeah, yeah, I know you can do a lot,” Ya xiao dismissed, taking a deep breath.

"Exactly, I can use this eighteen minutes to overly explain a simple matter like knocking and ruin your time and dull the happiness you will feel for entering Legendary Rank with high prospects."

"...." Ya Xiao now looked annoyed at his 'friend'. "I know you have a lot more free time than you let on."

"Well, duh, why would I become the leader of an organization if I just wanted to give myself more work or even lessen my future productivity in training?" Alex went on as if he was explaining the most obvious thing in the world.

"You know… if you are just bored there is no shame in admitting it." Ya Xiao as a man who had dwelled in politics during his last life wasn't someone who would let his feelings take over. Talking with Alex when you had a disturbed mind always felt like punching a porcupine.

“True, I am kind of bored lately. I have been trying to create something with the eye of a creature of Immortal Rank.” Alex said with a sigh that showed his frustration. He too had his problems, though he never spoke about them out loud. Even Ya Xiao knew that this gesture was most likely calculated to show frustration. “But no matter what, I don’t have any flame that can burn down the eye to turn the eye into the potion I need.”

“Sometimes it feels like you are about to get to the point, but no, you feel the need to extend the conversation longer than it has to be. Boredom is something that everyone feels, and sometimes doing something fun isn’t a shame. Everyone can be like that, it’s human nature.” Ya Xiao explained, giving the young man in front of him some advice he wished he had in his last life.

During the days he was the Human emperor, his existence was meant to be perfect, and the war with the Beast Emperor didn’t leave any time for his family. It broke his heart once he heard that his kids had fought and separated the human empire into four kingdoms. Even his daughter had done her thing, he regretted how she had ended up the most.

“Do you know what happens to people who show weakness?” Asked max, a knowing smirk making its way into his face. “They get taken advantage of. Weak people aren’t somehow magically strangers for showing weakness. Your sister and you are the best examples of this, she showed me weakness and I took advantage of that. Powerful people who act weak aren’t meant to be strong and will fall very quickly. Nobody likes a weak leader, it doesn't give them peace of mind.”

Ya Xiao nodded, he wasn’t naive enough to not know what Alex was talking about. The world, no matter how advanced, would always get rid of the weak in society. Ya Xiao was a good example of being taken advantage of by people stronger than him, Alex would use him for jobs that were dangerous but believed the Human Emperor could achieve.

Of course, he had to listen to Alex’s demands. After all, Alex had his sister’s life in his hands. The deal was that in ten years he would release her from his grasp as long as Ya Xiao listened to some of his demands and went on missions.

“I need you to go to the Fire Islands and get the Flame God’s core in the middle of it,” Alex said, waving his hand and a map of the Fire Island appeared and where the God Core would be. “Also be careful, someone who used to be a Hero in the Magic academy still lives there. His name is Bright, and by now he has probably entered Legendary Rank and is dangerous. If you find a chance to kill him, do it.”

Ya Xiao nodded, knowing where Alex was coming from, even though he knew how he had tricked Julie, the Headmistress, while her status was still unknown. Many assumed that she was dead. So bright would undoubtedly be after Alex when he learned what had happened. Some people were close to the Headmistress genuinely, and he was one of them.

Though what Alex knew about Bright extended quite a lot more than most people, the man was a monster in every sense of the way. Intelligent, wise, strong, and with just the right amount of crazy to not be afraid of death. So the man was dangerous, all people like that were.

Especially since he was in love with Julie. It was a shame for someone with his talent to fall for someone like Julie who would never reciprocate his feelings.’ Alex remembered the drama that had happened back in-game due to this. Bright had become a God and Julie an Immortal. ‘It is better to get rid of him before he grows to become a problem, to deal with monsters like him there needs to be another monster to battle him.’

While Bright was a monster in his own right, Ya Xiao was the same, both born with a talent that can’t be surpassed by hard work. Alex of course was confident in being able to defeat Bright if he still had the same strength as he had in-game during this time, but many things had changed. Also, why take the risk? He was the leader of an organization now, he didn’t need to do everything by himself.

Though, even if he wanted to, by now Alex didn't dare move away from the Soul Sect. The Beast Emperor's army was getting closer to his territory. So he had to be here to stop any invasion attempts.

"Anyway, that's all I wanted to say," a teleportation magic circle appeared below Alex.

Ya Xiao sighed. "You could have said what he wanted in the beginning and this would have been over in under a minute."

But Alex didn't seem to mind his friend's annoyance and just waved at him while he teleported off.

One back in his office, Alex looked around and found Pork, his little red-furred pig boar running around, he was in his mixture form. A smile came to his face once he saw that. "Hey there, little guy. Come here for a second."

Pork ran over to him like a small dog, and to this day it confused Alex. Why did the Fire Boar keep acting like a dog? They even play catch sometimes, he threw a disk and the dog… no, the Fire Boar caught it.

Alex of course had conducted many kinds of research on Pork's body and soul, but there was nothing strange about him. He just acted like a dog… and sometimes a cat.

"You are weird," Alex muttered, getting down and petting his first friend in this world.

Pork laid on the ground like a cat and started rolling around. He then looked at Alex and nodded his head.

"I am sure that means something… but why the hell do you think I would understand what you mean by that?" Alex was even more confused by this. Pork’s response to this was to roll again, jump around more and do a backflip.

“...” he just looked at the Fire Boar. “Are you trying to show me some tricks?”

Pork’s ears went down and he looked at the ground saddened.

_____
On the border of the Wayne Kingdom, the Heavenly Demon, a man known to now be the physically strongest Legendary Rank in the kingdom.

The mountains around them were bare due to the corruption, and not even a blade of grass was around.

"I thought they would bring more than one guy here?" The Heavenly Demon said arrogantly, about two mountains away was another man standing atop of it. His skin was caramel-colored and his eyes an angry red, the only thing that showed that the other was not human was the two black horns on the top of his head.

Though they were quite far away, both of them could see each other. At their level, a couple of mountains of distance was the same as a couple of steps.

"So you aren't going to say anything?" The Heavenly Demon boasted. He wasn’t afraid as he had a Teleportation Talisman under his robes. "I guess the Beast Emperor isn't all that he is said to be. Where is his army?"

Suddenly the Heavenly Demon felt a slight wind hit his face, and then his view changed. He was looking at the land behind him in an upside-down view.

"Wha-" he didn't finish his words as the man's body exploded like a water balloon.

The man just casually walked past the now jelly-like blood on the ground. The silence was deafening in the mountains.
