Ya Xiao had met many people in his life, from Alex and the Beast Emperor being two of the most dangerous. Right now, there was another person that needed to be added to that list.
A radiant naked man stared at him with crimson eyes as if they belonged to the hottest of flames. The man’s crimson hair swished in the hot winds. “Why are you here?”
The man who was known as the Human Emperor, the strongest human ever recorded, swallowed his saliva in nervousness. There was something about Bright that seemed otherworldly, but very familiar at the same time. “Have we met before?” asked Ya Xiao nervously.
The fire-made man only smirked. “No, I am sure of that. But you were reborn from the past too, right?”
Once again, Ya Xiao was caught off guard by Bright’s words. There seemed to be more to them than first appeared. Also, it almost felt like Bright had been expecting him. “Which year did you die then? Who knows, we might have met in our first lives.”
Ya Xiao tried to be as polite as he could, but Bright shook his head amusingly. “No, I know you are the Human Emperor. If we go by achievement in our past lives, then you outshine me too much. I would be embarrassed to even say what I used to be back then.”
“I see…” said Ya Xiao and then the conversation entered a strange awkward silence. He still didn’t know if fighting Bright was the right option, the Flame Hero was way stronger than Alex had said.
‘No, if I return empty-handed, Alex isn’t someone kind enough to let that go.’ - contemplated Ya Xiao, wrecking his mind trying to come up with something eligible he could do at this moment that wouldn’t result in fighting Bright, nor angering Alex. “Do you know where something called the Fire God’s Core is?”
Bright smirked, amused, “Oh, I know that,” he opened his hand and showed a red gem imbued in the flesh of his palm. “Is this what you are looking for?”
Ya Xiao’s heart shook and he cursed his luck. It was clear that the Fire God Core was very important to the other man and he didn’t want to fight, but now it seemed like he had no other choice. After all, he was more scared of Alex than he was of the monstrous man.
Ya Xiao extended his hand and light gathered to the front of his palm, slowly a sword so beautiful that it seemed otherworldly appeared. It seemed to have a golden handle and translucent edges; a dark blue gem was embedded in it. “Sorry, but I will have to go all out against you.”
Bright smiled. “Calesvol? That’s a holy sword you barely hear about anymore. It was thought to be the strongest Holy Sword ever made by human hands.”
This brought a smile to Ya Xiao’s face as he looked at his old sword. “Long time no see partner. How about we again show everyone why you are called the strongest holy sword.”
“{Roger, but be careful this time.}” A female’s voice came from the Holy Sword and it made Ya Xiao smile in nostalgia. The only reason he had been able to keep up with the Beast Emperor back in the day. It was because he had a fateful encounter when he stumbled upon this sword.
“Come at me!” Yelled Ya Xiao, clasping Calesvol with both his hands and taking a slowing position, his eyes sharpened and a deadly atmosphere revolved around him. His Ki burst out in waves and it even had a holy affinity to it now that made him even stronger.
By Game standards, he was only Level 23, but with the help of Calesvol, not even Peak Legendary Ranks would dare fight him.
“Oy, oy, what kind of cheat item is that?” chuckled Bright, seemingly unworried as flames engulfed his body like armor.
The holy Sword Calesvol had two passive abilities that it was known about, the first it increased the user’s speed and the send was to amplify its user's Ki by monstrous level. But what made it the strongest Holy Sword weren’t these simple passive abilities, but the active ones.
[Transparency]
Suddenly, Ya Xiao’s body turned invisible, surprising Bright, because while he knew of the basic abilities of Calesvol, it had been two thousand years since it was used. So he didn’t have a lot of information about it that survived two thousand years.
Fwish!
Bright felt something touch his flame armor. He turned around and a huge lava pillar burst at the place where Ya Xiao should have been. But as he turned around, he only saw Calesvol floating there, without its user. The sword suddenly shimmered out of existence.
‘Illusions!!’ realized Bright, but it was too late, as he turned around, he felt a sword swipe from under his armpit and the arm with the Fire God’s Core imbued on it flew off.
“Ahhhh!!” Bright yelled out in pain, clasping at his stomp of a shoulder. Blood flew through his fingers and he winced as he had started getting pale as blood flew heavily out his wound. With no other choice, he conjured a ball of lava and pressed it on his wound.
The pain that hit him was unbearable, but Bright handled it well and didn’t even flinch anymore. Slowly the lava that was cauterizing his wound shoulder morphed, creating a new arm for him, this time made of liquid fire.
Ya Xiao on the other hand appeared toward where Bright’s fallen arm was and plucked the fire God’s Core right out of its flesh.
“You got careless,” Ya Xiao’s eyes narrowed and his Ki became even sharper. “You are a mage, right? Then you shouldn’t let me get anywhere near you. I was a little surprised at how low your power was, but I was similarly surprised by your lack of fighting power too.” he then sighed and looked at his holy sword. Thinking if this same move would have worked on Alex. “There are Mages out there who could easily have taken care of something simple like this easily.”
Bright looked calm on the outside, but internally he was raging. The terrain had been one that would guarantee his success since they were both standing on boiling ground. “Shut up, I will get serious now.”
Ya Xiao smirked maliciously. “Sadly… it’s too late for that.”
His figure shimmered and only then did Oliver realize that he had been talking to another illusion all along. He immediately made a sphere of lava around him and a sword cut straight through that. Looking at the place it was cut, Bright was able to see Ya Xiao with his holy sword in hand.
Immediately he ran over a hundred analysis spells and was able to determine with 100% certainty that the person he was looking at right now wasn’t an illusion. So he had a hundred pillars of lava shoot through the ground and morph into a gigantic serpentine dragon made out of liquid fire. The creature’s head was as big as a mountain.
{Legendary Rank Lava Magic: Sun Dragon}
The serpentine dragon charged after Ya Xiao who immediately jumped back and started running off, but the dragon seemed to have a mind of its own and followed him. Bright smirked in victory, even if his opponent tried to block the Sun Dragon or was even able to cut him, the creature would reform again with Ya Xiao in the middle. This would end up with only the opponent being burned alive, as warriors didn’t have any defensive spells that would stop heat from affecting through their Ki.
No matter how strong ya Xiao’s body was, it wouldn’t be able to handle being drowned in lava.
Just as bright was about to celebrate his victory as a giant pressurized Ki slash cut through his Sun Dragon. Something strange happened, as a lion made of gold sprung from the ground and bit off his head in a split second.
*Crunch!*
The Lava Mage’s head burst like a melon once it was within the lion’s fangs. The Sun Dragon dispersed too and all the lava fell on the ground, unable to form back due to the lack of Mana being supplied by the user.
Ya Xiao breathed a sigh of relief. “That was close… the bastard was too concentrated in analyzing if I was an illusion that he forgot something else.”
The sword in his hand shimmered and it turned back into a normal-looking steel sword, showing that he didn’t have Calesvol in his hands anymore. Looking towards the lion that seemed to be made of gold, he smiled. The lion was a Peak Legendary Rank creature and it jumped towards Ya Xiao.
Slowly, it transformed back into the Holy Sword, Calesvol. This was the sword’s 6th and strongest ability, to transform into a Peak Rank Legendary Golden Lion. Ya Xiao smiled as he saw his enemy’s headless corpse. “In his era, no one knew about your abilities, Calesvol. So they don’t have any countermeasures against them.”
‘Time to go back.’ - he contemplated, looking at the Fire God’s Core with a melancholic look. If he hadn’t separated this thing from Bright’s hand at the start of the battle, this fight could have gone a whole other direction. “Young people nowadays. They should be more cautious.”
