The Game of a Blood Mage

Chapter 110

***
"I…" the Beast Emperor looked at his hands, and then back at Alex. Many thoughts passed through the man who had experienced betrayal at the hands of humans. "Refuse... to fight anymore."

Alex almost breathed out a sigh of relief, but he stopped himself. Because doing so would show that he was bluffing. Because while he could trick the Beast Emperor's instincts, he couldn't kill him.

In stories, the Main Character would always be able to pull out some super move and defeat the undefeatable villain. But this was an impossible endeavor from the beginning.

Alex had been ignoring it a little and keeping it at the back of his mind, but the reality was that no matter what. He wouldn't be able to reach Immortal Rank within sixteen years in this world. He knew that but still tried his best.

By now the Game Interface was essentially helpless in that. Many abilities were just as strong as it, or even better.

Alex's ambition burst through, and for the first time since coming to this world, he thought beyond the limits of what he had seen in the game. What he wanted now was to live his own life, and goals. He didn't owe humanity anything to risk his life for them.

So with that in mind, he sighed regretfully. "You can have the Paraseon Kingdom as a new part of your territory."

He didn't need those territories as by now they were poor in resources and humanity didn't have enough population to manage all of that land.

"Hm?" The Beast Emperor was initially confused, it felt like the whole demeanor had changed around Alex.

He knew that the Mage's thought process was faster than that of a normal human, but he couldn't understand what it felt like to have years to contemplate a split-second decision.

In a minute or two, Alex could go through mental maturity that would normally last over a lifetime. Saying that every mage Mage was smart and could make the right decision, wasn't necessarily true. But they had a lot more time than normal to solve their problems and think about them.

Still, Alex had a smile on his face, as he looked at the Beast Emperor, and realized that any of his plans that he could think of would fail.

Once again, he was reminded of why he couldn't go against absolute power. "After  a hundred years, I promise to have us fight in an even battle."

This was a ruse, Alex was just giving the Beast Emperor an option to pull out. He understood just how hard it was for some people to face failure.

The Beast Emperor thought about it. He knew that someone like Alex might be able to reach Immortal Rank by then.

If this had been two thousand years ago, Alex knew that the Beast Emperor would be reckless and naive enough to attack him. But while he couldn't kill the Beast Emperor, at the same time, his people were a whole other deal. The Beasts would die of starvation even if he didn't do anything.

From Alex's view, this war had been started uselessly, to avenge a betrayal that happened two thousand years ago. In his eyes, it was useless since the people who betrayed him and even their descendants were most likely dead by now. Though Ya Xiao, the Human Emperor was technically still alive. The Beast Emperor had no idea of it.

The Beasts hadn't lost a battle, and the Beast Emperor was stronger. But they all had lost the war, sure, no one would say it outright. But that was the harsh truth.

Or maybe the Beast Emperor isn't even mad anymore? He is just doing this to feed his people under the pretense of war.

After all, the beasts didn't have anything else to eat except uncorrupted humans. Eating anything corrupted would corrupt them too. Turning its consumer into a mindless monstrosity.

Alex could try and guess a hundred scenarios going through the Beast Emperor's mind. But in the end, he saw it as a useless endeavor, because what he had wanted all this time was for the Beast Emperor to come and see the Soul Sect.

He had predicted that his opponent would be curious and come check out his place, defenses, and people. Having lost once made the Beast Emperor cautious, and he was sure to check everything… just like Alex had foreseen.

The reason why Alex had wanted him to see, was because the food was abundant in the Soul Sect. Even with all his power, the Beat Emperor couldn't make food out of thin air.

Humans were limited, and would eventually run out. The Beasts' fate was to starve out to death or be corrupted. That was too cruel of an ending.  So while the Beast Emperor might not be someone who liked humans. He had no choice either but to cooperate.

All of those thoughts went through Alex's mind in a split second. He now had seen the situation for what it was and understood where he could gain an advantage.

"I will do what I want!!" The Beast Emperor yelled out, turning around looking at his subordinates, strong and weak. While a lot of them were filled with hatred for being hunted, more by now has started to see their dire situation. "If anyone wants to fight against my decisions! Then come at me!"

This is just an excuse by the Beast Emperor to stop this war and not appear weak. Alex didn't mind being the one who came as the "loser". He can easily rewrite human history anyway, then it will become a lot of he said she said part of history.

This was a part of humanity that the beasts could ever understand, just how tricky, malicious, and monstrous we could become.

Even though they had been hunted down like normal animals. Hoarding and hunting them like prey… they hadn't even touched the iceberg. None of them knew just how complicated humans could be.

***
Just like that, the war between humans and beasts came to a peaceful ending. The Beast Emperor, and selected 2nd Human Emperor, Alex, came to understand peace.

***
Two years passed in the blink of an eye, and within what used to be the Wayne Kingdom, stood the capital city of the Human Empire, Alexandria.

Within that city stood a mighty palace, and in that place Alex stood on his throne, the room around him empty. The weakened humanity had united under one banner, and with the extermination of 95% of the humans due to the corruption and the war. There was no one to oppose him.

He was in an empty, but grand throne room. Under his leadership, humanity had thrived and it had gotten to a stage where everyone was a Mana user now. This was due to Alex's special potions.

The Beast Empire had grown in the borders too and had taken over half of what was previously the Holy Kingdom and the whole of Paraseon Kingdom.

Alex didn't mind that. Because humanity's population was so low, he didn't need it either. He was sure that in the future wars would be fought over that as humanity's size increased, but he didn't care about any of it.

The dark corruption in the continent was still a problem, but no one could find the source or get rid of it completely.

By now, Pork had ascended and Alex was alone, without his pet, he kind of missed his boar's behaviors of how he seemed to act like a dog. Even to the last day, Pork never spoke a word, and just rolled around like an unintelligent dog.

The Fire Boar was now the only deity that humanity in this world worshiped. Also, his name had been changed as Pork wasn’t a fitting name for a God to be called, instead, he was now called Azeroth, the God of Fire, and protector of humanity. He had crushed the lower Gods that had lost their believers and took over the pantheons, as he was the God 99% of the humans worshiped now.

Alex had also heard of his childhood ‘friend’, Lily, and it seemed like she had entered Legendary Rank too. He wasn’t someone who did something impulsively and within these two years, he had been calculating something.

The Human continent isn’t useful any longer. He had dried it of any treasure that he knew of from the game and there wasn’t anything else he would need. What he needed right now to grow was more time, because while he was progressing at a fast speed in comparison to others, he is still a long way from being a true challenge to the Beast Emperor in power.

“It’s about time I moved on,” Alex took off the crown in his head that was embedded with many expensive jewels that would allow one to buy a country. He then put the lavish crown on the throne he was sitting on. "I hope the 3rd Human Emperor enjoys it. I made sure the throne looked like it shows power. But put even more details to make it as uncomfortable as possible."

Alex knew that he was human, emotionally, and if he stayed here any longer, complacency would set in. The desire for beautiful women, and then riches would take over him. That was what he was afraid of, being like Camilla, who took thousands of years to evolve past Legendary Rank.

So with his heart as cold as always, Alex notified those closest to him, which were the Council of the People that was a semi-democratic system with elections. His message was simple, it said that he was leaving for a while… as if he was a father going to get milk in the grocery store.

The Human Empire outlived its usefulness and Alex was ready to abandon everything that he had built up for the last sixteen years. And once again was reminded that only his power was eternal, always staying by his side, as everything else would eventually break down due to the passage of time.

His power would pass too if he wasn’t careful.

Max’s thoughts on his whole endeavor? He was good at ruling, but didn’t care enough about others, nor did he have anything to gain from it by staying at the top of power for so long.

Though he did wonder one thing, as he teleported above the clouds. What would happen to the Empire he had built? Would it crumble to nothing, or separate into countries like before, just like when the first Human Emperor died.

Would he return here? He didn’t know.

While he had solved the food problem. The dark corruption was still here and a hundred other problems were plaguing his mind. What would Camilla do? Julie had been back, but still in hiding.

Still, he shook his head and smirked, not worrying about such things.

‘Demon Continent, here I come.’ - thought Alex, teleporting away again.

**
This time he arrived at the bottom of the Soul Sect mountain, and at the deepest part, there was a fleshy egg with veins all around it. The veins twitch as if blood was passing amongst them.

Ever since the beginning, Alex never planned to stay in the Human Continent. This place was too small for him and his ambitions. What he needed was faster growth, he didn’t know when the next planet-buster, Cthulhu-level, monstrosities would come around here.

So, with his emotions as calm as always he casually touched the pulsing egg and recited a speech that he remembered from the game.

It seemed like forbidden words were spoken as the space around him seemed to crack, and like that, he was sucked into a dark spiral.

AUTHOR NOTES:
(You can skip them, it's nothing too important to the story. Just wanted to explain some things.)
Since we saw things mostly from Alex's view, it always seemed like he was in a countdown against an unbeatable enemy. But… he was just waiting… as the Beast Emperor was fighting against an enemy he couldn't beat, the starvation of his whole race.

P.S: This was like Napoleon's invasion of Russia, very impressive, and he seemed unbeatable. Even taking over Moscow, yet, in the end, he lost the war. Of course in my story, the Beast Emperor knew when to pull out and stop.

Initially, there was supposed to be an epic battle. But then I thought, the Beast Emperor had two thousand years to think of his reckless mistakes. Would he do something like that again? Even the stupidest person would learn from their mistakes if they are punished for 2000 years. So it didn't make sense to have that Beast Emperor who was wise and smart enough to check on his enemy before fighting them, suddenly do something stupid.

There was no good ending for the beasts, due to starvation, and Alex would make sure there wasn't salvation for them too.

Also did you know that Napoleon, was a bad shot and almost got killed by rabbits while hunting?
