New sub here too! Love y'all's reactions! This was a tough episode. It wasn't obvious, I'm sure because it's very triggering and the writers had to be subtle with it, but Laurie was attempting to get Rue hooked on IV morphine (fix) and make back her money thru human trafficking :/ that's why she knew Rue would "be in her life for a while" and the subtle comment on "good thing about being a woman, you always have value"...Laurie knew Rue was never clean and she clearly had plenty of pills in the suitcase with morphine but she's a business woman at the end of the day--it's all super sad.
