That is likely something he has been searching for since episode 1. Katara is the perfect person to help fill that void for him. I feel like what she said to him is what his mother would have said if she had been there.

I mean, it’s just a very Katara thing to do, and it shows how far she’s come in her acceptance of him, but with that also, I think it must be extra encouraging to Zuko because he knows Katara really means it.
