Lola's reaction to Milena not knowing the Powerpuff Girls is priceless.

For real? You guys should watch the power puff girls or at least the movie (which is epic)

The scene where we first see Sozin and Roku together mirrors their conflict at the end. Roku was about to fall over the tree root, but Sozin briefly saved him before letting him fall. This is just like how he briefly helped Roku with the volcano, but let him fall in the end. The writing in this show is incredible!

WHAT A FUCKING SHOW

I believe Sozin came to help Roku fight the island and save the people because the thought had not crossed his mind that Roku could/would actually die. He still somewhat cared. But then when the moment finally presented itself, when Roku fell, sozin came to the realization that Roku could actually die in this moment, and then his dreams of conquering could finally come true. Until that exact moment he had not planned on killing/not saving Roku. He made the choice in that instant and I think that’s very powerful.

Wow, I never noticed that. Fantastic observation. You're totally right.

When we find out Roku is Zuko’s grandfather shook me.

This episode makes re-watching The Storm so much more emotional. Gyatso wasn't just looking out for the Aang, but for someone he had been friends with since he was a kid.

The shots of Zuko visiting Iroh makes it look like he (Zuko) is in prison. Everything comes full circle in this show and it’s AMAZING!

Enigma Rising

I think Roku stuck around to fight the volcano because the discharge from the volcano would have caused a massive tsunami that would have killed the people fleeing the island and devastated the coast where Sozin was looking out from. Which is also probably why Sozin went to help initially. But most importantly did Milena google Powerpuff Girls??

Honestly One of my top 5 favorite episodes of Avatar. The truth of Zuko's grandfather left me gasping like you when I first saw it. It also makes so much sense why Zuko has the inner battle with himself

“Born in you, along with all the strife, is the power to restore balance to the world.” Chills. Every time. I love how Iroh's words tie together with what Aang says about every person being capable of both great good and great evil. It must be so emotionally overwhelming for Zuko to realize that Iroh STILL believes he's capable of great good even after everything that happened in s2 😭
