The author Isayama mentioned that Annie's crazy laugh in that scene was meant to portray a big release of emotions for Annie. Like a wave of relief for her that she no longer has to lie or act in front of others anymore, as well as the feeling of being cornered and scared in that situation. In the manga Annie simply smiles without laughing but the author also released different sketches he suggested that the anime use and one of them was Annie laughing whilst breaking down in tears. I wish they would've gone with that one since the joyous laughter whilst blushing she does in the anime makes her seem insane and people may just simply write her off as being a psycho instead of trying to find a deeper meaning behind her words and actions

Hey girls do you remember the scene when Levi and Mikasa got Eren back from Annie and Mikasa tried to go for Annies neck but Annie lifted her hand and then Levi pushed Mikasa away from Annies hand and stepped on the hand? During this move he sprained his ankle. Thats why we got this short scene focusing on his feet stepping on her hand. Just in case you are wondering why Levi was touching is leg in the last episode or has to hold back during fights the next few episodes.

First off RT I don't think your interpretation is correct, she's always been a low key character, even post... That laugh is more like Breaking Bad's crawl space, very out of character. Based on what is shown we have no clue what Annie is about. She's good at fighing, but is she just a town person who turned bad. Was she born this way. Why'd she cry? Does she know Eren? It could be anything yet.

Oh and about Mikasa seeing the ring and instantly reacting. It's never shown in the anime but way earlier in the manga Mikasa picks up Annie's ring and sees what it is and is pretty much like yeah this bitch is a freak but doesn't put together what it's for. Not that important but it explains why Mikasa instantly knew what to do when she sees it.

Incase you're wondering about her weird laugh it's the result of 5 years of having to constantly be on guard and pretend to be someone she isn't. It's like a massive moment of catharsis when she realizes she is finally free to drop the act and just gamble everything on this one moment. No more pressure no more anxiety just action. Annie is easily one of my favorite characters in the show I wish I could say more but it's too soon. But what's not to like about a badass chick who is a certified judo throwing, Muay Thai kicking, jiu jitsu grappling baddie? All her techniques are based on real fighting styles and moves and the creator of the show is a big MMA fan.
