I really love the different viewpoints on Korra's decisions in this show. Tough tough job i gotta tell ya being the avatar.. Its insane Korra and Aang had to start soo young.

ReactorHero

I just want to clear something up for y’all. Jinora, the oldest daughter, was the one who experienced something in the temple. Ikki, the younger daughter, is the one that is missing. I’m so glad y’all started doing two a week!

Probably Aang’s greatest failure as a parent was not having more children. He would have lived knowing the burden of being the last airbender and he passed all of that to his youngest son.

They tried to create their version of the UN...the United Republic of Nations, and Republic City, where everyone lived together. But there were still plenty of problems brought on by all these people living together. I agree that Aang should've spent more time with his kids before Tenzin was born (he could've at least found time to take them on vacations). But also, the show is vague about Katara as well. Clearly she was one of the leaders for awhile at least, but what did she do otherwise? All that's clear is that they kept a cohesive family unit and lived on Air Temple Island...the rest is super vague, which is why it's still an issue people talk about today. They don't give us many details and we're left to speculate.

That exactly is problem because people should already created something like UN (but not every country want to join UN by political reasons and another reasons)To stop that cycle of war and not depending on Avatar after that. I just hope one day people of Avatar universe will stop exploit Avatar and should resolve their problems by themselves like we do today. Avatar in progressive society is not needed

There was still a LOT of in-fighting though...what with the Fire Nation colonies, what to do with them, and friction between benders and non-benders. That's what led to the creation of Republic City. Aang had to deal with all of that as the Avatar. It's not like everything was perfect after the 100-year war ended. Think about it in the context of our OWN world -- look at the aftermath of World War II and all of THAT (and that just lasted 6 years). Look at how the world struggled with itself, even with the creation of the UN. Now, imagine that in the context of a 100-year war, and no UN...just one Avatar.

Zuko on the other hand managed to be good father and great Fire Lord. Aang is not politic and world is not in danger so i don't think he trained Tenzin 24/7 he should have more time

There's a lot to unpack here and I think you did a good job. Korra's attitude in this season is part of the reason so many don't like it. She's....easily manipulated and kind of annoying. I excuse it because she's a teenager and she doesn't have much life experience but it is annoying for awhile because they basically do it to serve the plot. Aang's parenting situation gets a lot of stick but you guys covered that pretty well too. I think Aang and Katara had a lot of pressure on them, helping to rebuild the world. Aang was of course the Avatar and had his own issues...dealing with everything that led up to the creation of Republic City and afterwards. Still, he could've taken Bumi and Kya on vacations before Tenzin was born. He could've found the time. I've always been curious about what Katara was doing. We don't really know. I guess we can assume she was on the council for awhile (she outlawed bloodbending) and she did teach Kya to waterbend and heal. This is why I've always wanted some sort of thing showing Team Avatar as adults to bridge the gap. One or two 22-minute episodes showing Aang, Katara and the kids would be enough...just so we can get more insight. But oh well. They weren't perfect parents, they were busy...but they at least kept their family together in the midst of all that they had to do

Caomhan84

Of course Aang wasn’t the perfect father. He had important duties as the Avatar and he needed to focus on Tenzin to bring a lot culture back.

Katelyn

Aang was great Avatar but not perfect father. But at least better than Ozai lol

so korra twice a week now?
