But do you thing Jimmy feels bad just for hurting Chuck, or its also bc the things he said, i mean he finally burst and spell the real truth about his feelings towards Jimmy, that gotta hurt man

LA GRAN CAGUAMA

the creators of this show are something else

LA GRAN CAGUAMA

I became patron for this reaction & you girls didnt dissapoint, also my favorite episode of the entire show, maybe ther's a contender (s5e6) cant wait to see you get there. Michael Mckean performance really its top notch, and that closeup, man i love this show.

A detail from this episode that blows my mind every time I think about it is that Huell shows up in BCS to plant the phone battery on Chuck, and in his last scene in Breaking Bad Hank tricks him into think that Walter is coming after him, and then removes the battery out of his phone so Walter can't track him. So Huell's story starts with a battery being put in a phone and then ends with one being taken out. In the middle of this amazing episode they're able to sneak in the perfect bookend for a very minor character. The attention to detail is just outstanding.

What was Chuck’s reaction when he destroyed Jimmy? Extremely happy, he even forgot his mental issue and start being normal. Now reverse the question, what was Jimmy’s reaction when he destroyed Chuck? I think it is clear that he is not enjoying it at all

FFme

Also, It is clear that Jimmy is not enjoying beating his brother. I am not saying Jimmy is an angel, but we all saw Chuck’s reaction when the situation was reversed. Chuck even forgot his mental issue by going outside to the street after destroying Jimmy

FFme

Yeah I think the best episode of BB/BCS so far is Ozymandias. But as a whole I prefer BCS. I've rewatched it in full I think 4 times, and on a regular basis I'll just put on random episodes because I just love the vibe, I love to admire the cinematography, and somehow despite my rewatches I'm always surprised by something new that I never noticed before. I've only watched BB in full twice, not because I don't like it, but it's just not as pleasant of a show to binge, lol.

Taya

Melfi as a character isn't as well rounded as Kim. She is largely on screen for her relationship to Tony. Kim stands alone in that regard. She can carry a show on her own.

Camzeee

Howard tried to talk Chuck out of testifying to no avail. Chuck really does hate Jimmy big time

mrjackpotz

The greatest irony is that every accusation Chuck makes against Jimmy during his "crazy" rant is accurate.

Dub Dubious

There are multiple murderers on this show, yet Kim is the most morally contemptible? Lol.

Ryan Roach

They brought in Rebecca so that she could be there for him afterwards.

Ryan Roach

Most people have no empathy for Chuck at this point and are cheering at the end of his breakdown. Interesting to see you crying.

Ryan Roach

It's a great battle between doing the right thing for the wrong reasons and doing the wrong thing for the right reason.

Trent_88

I don’t think Jimmy caused Chuck’s illness, I think Chuck’s divorce did. His relationship with Jimmy makes things worse, but the divorce hit him really really hard. Which makes it so crazy that Jimmy brought Rebecca to the hearing. This episode is so good, I’ve watched Chuck’s speech a million times, I can recite it by heart. You know it’s getting real when the dude yells “HE DEFECATED THROUGH A SUNROOF!” And everyone is still taking it very seriously lol.

Suhhh Dude

Lets also not forget, that Chuck's own actor says that he's a real son of a bitch, and the way he treats Jimmy is not fair.

Just because someone does something against the rules or against what the majority of what people find acceptable doesn't make it objectively wrong. BCS makes it a point to show that right or wrong, moral or amoral is all subjective. A wise old man old once said he's known good criminals and bad cops. It's not necessarily wrong to do something for your own benefit, or defend yourself against someone who is mentally ill. Personal values often conflict with each other and change over time. Kim is a relatable character because she struggles to understand why her actions don't line up with the values she's conscious of.

Troy

Lol you're really going to claim that Kim is the most morally contemptuous character while downplaying Jimmy's actions because he "doesn't always see what's wrong". Real 420 IQ contrarian viewpoint. lmao

the Forgiven

I think Cole Canine is saying that because he feels Kim should know better and holds her to a higher standard. Using a mental illness against someone even though it’s to help Jimmy and bringing in his ex wife is cruel. Chuck is being cruel too by always holding Jimmy back and never even giving him a chance to do right by him. Jimmy and Chuck are both in the wrong and not thinking straight. Kim is the only sane one but yet she goes along with it too and also ignores changing the address in order to keep Mesa Verde and a part of her enjoys being bad when it helps her or when Jimmy and her are scamming innocent people it gives her a thrill. So they all have issues. lol

Ken Drummer

Agreed. I already preferred it to BrBa by season 2. The tone and pacing and characters are just absolutely perfect.

Shadoe Price

Criticizing Kim is fine but calling her the most morally contemptible character in this show is silly.

Shadoe Price

i feel like jimmy and chuck are constantly 'one upping each other' but eventually chuck crossed a line with the tape and at that point jimmy lost all care for him and went for all out warfare, which given the events i think was fair enough. after everything jimmy did for chuck, he did whatever it took to hurt him as much as possible, and bringing in rebecca was just collateral damage.

Santos

Yeah it's easy to overlook her faults because she's so likeable, has many great qualities and you want to root for her. But ... she is not a good person. This becomes even more clear on subsequent rewatches.

Taya

Same. I'm all about that #oneunit stuff and don't compare the shows, often. However, I can confidently say that this show connects with me in a way that many others fail to do

Isaac

I will never understand people sympathizing for Kim over Chuck. Both characters are exceptional, but the audience seems to mostly be lured into thinking Kim is the morally justifiable one. She is complacent with Jimmy’s amoral behavior when it benefits her, but takes the high ground against Jimmy when it doesn’t. Chuck, who is flawed in his own ways, at least feels morally compelled to do what is right; Kim and Jimmy literally know about the severity of a member of their family’s mental instability and, instead of helping him, make him suffer to their benefit. They deliberately bring Rebecca in with the sole purpose of making a person they know to be mentally unstable feel worse. In terms of characters lacking the courage to confront what they know to be wrong (Jimmy doesn’t always see what’s wrong), Kim is the most morally contemptible character on the show. Great writing.

Cole Canine

This episode -- and Michael McKean's performance as Chuck -- are so good, they put most whole series to shame!

Bryan Givens

Such a great reaction to a fantastic episode. I don't consider Jimmy good or bad for defending himself when that's his job. It proves how good of a defense lawyer he is with so much against him in that courtroom. If only Chuck hadn't testified, Howard was right that it wasn't worth it and it lead to this.

I love Breaking Bad, one of my top shows of all time. So epic, a dark comedy at first at times, then a gripping and tragic modern western, a drama brought to life with incredible acting and the best cinematography in the business. Yet I also prefer Better Call Saul. In many ways it surpasses Breaking Bad. Certainly the characters are even more developed, more fleshed out, just as tragic. The cinematography gets even better, and the whole prequel show only makes Breaking Bad better in retrospect, it gives it more weight, for example, knowing Mike's full story. Something about BBC makes me love it and prefer it. Maybe it's Kim, LOL.

David Caine

I'll be honest I feel like Chuck pushed Jimmy to this point. I mean if you look at Jimmy as an addict, at the end of Season 1 Chuck basically told him "you'll always be a drug addict, no matter how long you're sober." That's the worst thing you can say to a person dealing with a problem, but Chuck is so blinded by his ego he doesn't care. Which lead Jimmy down this path. But yeah amazing episode and amazing show.

Brandon Wright

I always get snacks for the pre and post discussions lmao

wade

"I think everybody skips our intro" No way, love the intros

Brandon Wright

To add on to that, I find Kim & Jimmy's relationship to be unlike most others on TV. Because they're actually HAPPY, supportive, loyal and they always defend & stick up for each other. Almost all romantic relationships on TV involve heavy amounts of conflict and drama, most marriages are miserable (like Walt & Skyler), etc. It's just refreshing and heartwarming to see a strong & positive relationship for once!

Taya

Kim is the best female character written for TV imo. You just don't get characters like her on TV. Writers feel like they have to make female chars 'sexy' or 'crazy' or a multitude of other cliches. But hard working, reasonable, mature, independent.... I can probably count on one hand the number of female characters that are all of those things.

Camzeee

Lola's display of empathy is so rare and wonderful.

Michael Kang-Beats

I wish people got that for Attack on titan.

Melkor

You see guys? It's better when you don't hype epsiodes.

Confession: I love BCS way more than BB. BCS is #1 (or #2, I can't decide between it and Mad Men) and BB is probably like... #5 or around there. I don't know what it is but there's just something about BCS that clicks with me. It's my tv soulmate.

Taya

what a huge payoff this episode was and the god tier acting... can't get any better!

wade

The acting in this scene was phenomenal. Especially on Chuck's end. Gods it was a great episode

Danny

This episode is a frigging masterpiece. Been looking forward to this

Marcus

There's a video from LegalEagle that gives some great background on the legal issues that this episode deals with, which I highly recommend you check out! https://youtu.be/FCZ06Sfr9Cg
