2021-10-21 12:52:24 +0000 UTCWithout fail, every time I rewatch this episode I just get shaky and nervous a quarter into the episode knowing what happens. Basically when the trial starts. There's like this underlying feeling of dread/suspense throughout the first 15-30 min. Like you guys mentioned, this moment has been building up for the past two seasons in a way. Just spectacular writing and a magnificent episode with exceptional characters.

2021-10-21 02:15:06 +0000 UTCThey were able to keep mention of the specific object, the tape, out. It was only property. I wonder if the change from "destroy" to "damage" was meant to allow Chuck a "win" that was short of getting "tape," "recording," or "evidence" included.

Jimmy was writing his testimony, and Kim suggested the word "damage" because it sounds softer and maybe the court would be more lenient with him as a result. But Chuck, not missing anything, noticed this poor description of events, and told Jimmy to change it to "destroy" (what Jimmy wrote originally, before Kim's suggestion). So, that has nothing to do with any further elements in the plot.
