Remember Willy and Magath both wanted to stop Marley's march towards war and militarism, so I doubt Willy was 'okay' with the mission to Paradis, it was just beyond his control or he wasn't the head of the family until then. Like Willy said the Tybur family sold out Eldians to be treated as humans themselves, and Willy is the first head of the family to try and put in the work of expanding their status to other Eldians. But as you can see in his and Magath's talk, they know Paradis is going to attack them and the time for compromise is over (Funnily enough Eren/Paradis also believe cooperation is no longer an option -- Neither group wants to be vulnerable and open themselves up to attack), so they decide to accept the attack and make use of it

At this point, people only know the terrors the Eldian empire inflicted through stories. Were they really going to join Marley if Eren hadn't attacked? Especially after Willy admitted they'd all been lied to? I can't really discuss Eren's plan without getting into spoilers, but I remain unconvinced he had no choice.

2021-11-03 08:33:05 +0000 UTCI think WIlly wants peace between Eldians and the world. It's not just Marley but the whole world who have suffered in the past because of Eldians and titans. I think Willy intends to set up Paradis as the "bad" Eldians and incite violence against them by the world. He reasons once those "bad" Eldians are wiped out, the world will see the remaining Eldians as "the good ones" and that will contribute to more peaceful relations towards Eldians. And he was willing to sacrifice his life to see that achieved. That's how I understand it at least.
