well i actually agree with you. there are details that though small it adds to the whole experience of watching it. there are just some spoilers that are so big that it totally ruins the whole watching experience for some. i hope the girls don't experience that because i love how they analyze and observe. my friend who got spoiled was spoiled by the mother of all spoilers for this show. lol. you can say that she wasn't too pleased about it. haha

@tom Just because you don’t dislike him doesn’t mean there is no point. I don’t dislike him either and after season 4 part 1 it gave me a whole new perspective of looking at his character once I saw that video. I just recommend it because it’s a really good video that makes his character even more understandable then I thought before I watched it. It’s not necessary to watch it and I never said it was. Can’t I just recommend a video if I think it’s good and helpful in some way? I don’t decide if they will watch it but I can still recommend it.

Yeah i feel like Gabi is really holding on to her beliefs because if she doesn't all the people she knew that have died and every efforts she made throughout her entire life would be "pointless". Like she clearly sees that eldians on paradis aren't the demons she was told they were and she probably understand Kaya's point very well. But the fact she lost her mind at that moment saying they were devils etc is probably a way for her to keep her mind like "safe" or idk how to say it. Like if she just accepts what she sees, it means everything she lived for until that day was for nothing. It means her beloved ones died for nothing. So in her mind, she probably feels like she has to keep believing that they are demons and it's their fault, so she has someone to blame and hate to keep her on track. Humans always want to find reasons in everything they live or see so i'm assuming that's what Gabi is trying so hard to keep here.

One touch I really like in the scene is that Gabi is never told that she is also an Eldian. The the ancestors she is blaming would very well have been hers too. It’s a very clever piece of writing because the main premise behind this whole dialogue was to show how pointless dying in a war whether as a casualty or as a soldier is. Kaya’s entire point is to repeatedly ask about the purpose behind her mother’s death which is where even Gabi started breaking down. Such an amazing scene with even better subtext. And this cries back to what LM said about Gabi not worrying about empathising with Paradis because she hadnt seen their suffering. Now that she interacts with it, it’s a whole different story and Gabi trying to desperately cling to her defenses is just brilliant character writing.

When you rewatch the show once you get to season 2 I don’t know if you understood the whole thing with Uutgard castle where Ymir found a can of herring that eldians on paradise don’t even have access to. Zeke was probably staying at that castle before and that’s where the marleyans stored supplies for any warriors they sent to paradise probably.

Nah, after three watches of this show. I am very sure he is. I wasnt high on the show after season 1, but given how we have arrived where we have arrived. I give him his chops. It’s not easy to construct a story not dependent on a singular character, Isayama knocks it out of the park while letting even side-side characters being impactful.

I know a lot of people think Isayama is a brilliant writer, and while I'm not sure I agree with that, s4 was really him at his peak. He's a lot better as a writer than I gave him credit for in s1, and s1 was also better than I gave it credit for at first.

This is one of my favorite episodes across all seasons. It was so well done in my opinion. Sad to say, I was a Gabi hater after 4x8, but this episode especially and the following ones made me rethink that. It's honestly frightening how easy it was to just blindly hate her for killing Sasha. It's simple to say, "oh it's just a tv show, I'd never call for a child's blood in real life." And sure, a cartoon is very different from real life, but on the other hand, how much angrier and sadder would you be if it happened to you in real life, if you grew up with this girl, fought alongside her, were friends, and someone just showed up out of nowhere and killed her in front of you? Even the uncertainty of not knowing 100% how you would react is terrifying.

I could have misunderstood (haven't read the manga), but I always assumed the memory-wiping is a Founding Titan thing, but that the founding titan only has access to that power when possessed by (or connected to) someone with royal blood. So I think Eren could use the Founder to wipe memories if he is touching Zeke in titan form (same way as he could control titans when touching Dina in her titan form). I think.

Crunchyroll uploads the official translation around 5 hours after the episode airs in Japan. http://ww4.watchsnk.net/ is usually a good place to watch the episodes when they come out. Also you'll be able to tell them apart by the different text font but make sure you wait for the official Crunchyroll translation to drop since multiple fan subs usually drop earlier but they're often rushed out with spelling errors and/or wonky translations.

Like I once heard, "There is no innocence. Only ignorance." It doesn't matter if you're a child. Plenty of times, even in our own history, have shown us just how monstrous supposed "innocent" kids can be, as Gabi is now showing herself. What I personally compare innocence to, is denial. That is, a denial of your involvement in a crisis, or in the belief that you do not take enough of a part to be believed guilty. No one's a victim in AoT, nor in our world. I believe this.
