Of course you have the brainwashing but there's also the fact she's a trained soldier now on enemy lines. She's going to have her guard up, and she JUST saw these same people she was taught were devils, infiltrate and destroy her home. Not only did they destroy her hard work at showing Eldians can be good, but she's naturally terrified. She doesn't know the specifics, that Eren led the mission and his friends were forced into backing him up, all she saw was a terrifying army trampling on everything she loves. The scene when she fearfully bats away Sasha's mother's hand is so telling of the trauma and trust issues she has within her Then of course you have the fact that she wants to be loyal and not stray from her goal. She doesn't want to betray her family back at home, because she wants them to be free one day, she wants to prove they can be 'good', not all Eldians are devils like the ones on the island. If she accepts she was wrong that would mean Kaya's mother did die for no good reason, that all this time she's been supporting innocent people dying. It's very realistic in the way she rejects the truth because it would mean she was wrong all this time

2021-11-20 09:15:23 +0000 UTCThe link in this episode are so cool. You have this overarching theme about people following in the footsteps of their idols. First, there's Kaya (The girl Sasha saved) and Louise. Both girls saved by girls who were around the age they are now, and are now acting in inspiration of their role models. One took the message of kindness and compassion, and the other took the message of power and strength. You also have Floch, Mikasa and Hange. Mikasa used to follow in Eren's footsteps, trying to emulate his "Fight or die" mentality and now it's put so much strain on her to the point that seeing Louise salute gave her an intense flashback to what made her follow Eren in the first place. She sees the scene in a new light now. Previously all she focused on was the warmth of the scarf as Eren wrapped it around her, but now she remembers the terror of Eren slaughtering grown men. Finally recontextualizing that scene and showing just how abnormal it is, for those who didn't realize that something was off about Eren in S1 when he did that. Hange and Floch are both characters doing their best to follow in Erwin's footsteps, and just like Kaya and Louise who took different messages from their saviors, they are going about it in different ways. Also when you rewatch you'll now see the scene from S3P1 in a different light, where Sannes (The MP Hange imprisons and tortures) tells her the burden of responsibility is now hers to have, wondering if she made the right choice Truly a brilliant episode, and that's just me talking about what I see as the connective tissue of it, not even going into the individual scenes

You'll notice him more if you do that rewatch (By the way, I would love if you did some sort of video recapping your thoughts after the rewatch, like new things you noticed or new theories or characters you appreciate/miss, etc. Maybe not one for every season but I'm sure a lot of people would love that even if it doesn't get as many views due to not being a reaction)

Maybe when they finish death note. Either way. Its a hella cool new Animation. I think they absolutely would love it.
