I welcome the return of "Hi Bitches"

Alex

I second this!! Most of Avatar is fairly episodic, but these next two are pretty damn intertwined and more deserving of a double-drop than most.

Mako was completely fine in his relationship with Korra. He tried to be understanding, supportive, and also spoke honestly. It's actually Korra who always got defensive and angry. She's the one who's responsible for the break up in the end.

Regarding what the NWT people would be protesting for, while they didn't make it super clear in the show, I think the idea was that the Northern chief is technically the lawful ruler of both tribes. Combine that with the North having heavily invested in helping the South recover economically, they probably feel they are justified in reestablishing control since the South never officially broke away. The Southerners obviously reject that claim since they've been functionally independent for well over a hundred years, and the North largely abandoned them to the Fire Nation, leading their society to almost collapse while the North mostly escaped the ravages of war.

need episodes 7 and 8 together <3 u guys will love it.

Yeah I hate how people don’t realize that and they just rip apart the President. He’s only trying to do what’s best for Republic City. Like it’s literally his job to do that lol

Jenny Tolls

I hate their breakup scene because of Korra. I don’t blame Mako for breaking up with her because I would have done the same thing if she came into my work and destroyed my desk.

I appreciate that you two recognize the nuance that Republic City’s president finds himself in. Even tho assisting the south seems like the right thing to do Republic City is only maybe 50 years old and has just elected it’s first president. While presumably the water tribe is at least a millennia old and probably older. A new nation not interfering is the more prudent decision.

Well i don't think that they have any other royal family members (Zuko grandchildren) who could continue the rule of Fire Lord. And i think that reason why General Iroh is serving Republic army because he is militarist and was definitely inspired by Zuko who probably told him about Iroh when Iroh was a prince but still serving in the army as royal general. But still i don't understand why Fire nation risk their probably only future heir to the throne? I hope in legend of Genji Fire nation still monarchy not Republic. Because democracy will ruined the conservative traditions of fire nation.(also i checked official ATLOK wiki General Iroh officially the next in line for the throne he is a crown prince. I hope General Iroh have his own family if something happens to him)

She's a hot-head. I feel like in some ways they overcompensated a bit too much to make her different from Aang (who was very much a pacifist). Korra is all "Do, do, do!" and that's a refreshing change from Aang, but sometimes (especially when geopolitics is concerned) you have to be more measured. In this particular case, she has a direct conflict of interest. Not only because she's of the Southern Water Tribe but because her family is directly involved in the conflict. She should have recused herself immediately and sought help from her past lives.

I also think it’s highly unlikely that the fire nation would invade Republic City if General Iroh were to be imprisoned for acts of treason. Fire Lord Zuko said at the end of ATLA that the fire nation wanted to begin an era of peace and love and invading a place that you’ve conquered and released in the past generation for legally arresting someone would be counter to that.

Luis

hmmm... I don't recall it being mentioned anywhere in the show that he is the heir to the throne but who knows, maybe I just missed it. And why did you get an idea that Raiko might do something to him? But now that I am thinking about it, it seems strange to me that fire nation prince is serving in the military of republic city.

Stiven Goldrin

Yeah this episode is the one time I was not agreeing with Korra on. In my opinion it would’ve been cool if they let her talk to her past lives on this matter instead of attempting insurrection.

G

Very happy you two are enjoying this season!

ReactorHero

Mako is just not good with relationships. Difference is with Asami it was ALL his fault and with Korra they just weren't meant for eachother.

Jonathan Guzman

Raiko is so stupid. General Iroh is future Fire Lord, crown prince. If Raiko will do something to him Fire Lord basically will send army of fire nation soldiers to take Republic city and save Iroh .
