Attack on Titan 2x08 Reaction

I don't think it's up to you to decide what the viewer personally see's as a spoiler and just better to error on the side of caution and not mention anything that can set any sort of expectation, no matter how little, could domino into something more. If someone had tried to hype me up about Ozymandias before I had watched the season I would have considered that a spoiler and been annoyed that someone told me.

You say you can't imagine Mikasa living on without Eren but one of MIkasa's biggest development moments was in season 1 during the Trost arc after Eren got eaten and she was ready to give up her own life and let a titan eat her but then she remembered Eren's words to her telling her to fight. She then resolved herself to fight and win no matter what even if he's dead because if she died she wouldn't even be able to remember him. So she's already proven that she's capable of living on without him.

Shout out to Armin being the best friend ever. He loves Eren differently than Mikasa but it's so beautiful. She was sad thinking about how she always wants to be with him, but Armin pondering Eren's nature and need to pursue freedom and fight injustice always taking him off on his own, and just smiles lovingly saying maybe that's just how things are supposed to be for Eren... fucking beautiful

@Berserker Dude you can try to justify it all you want, but you've gave them expectations they didn't ask for, for an episode they don't know about. They read their patreon comments man, and probably read yours now. Just because "it's not a spoiler" doesn't mean it's ok. You know what you're doing, and so do we that's why we're calling you out for it. Just don't setup expectations for them, let them enjoy the show at their own pace, their experience is not yours.

I am completly agree with you Ken Drummer. We have just a different point of view about what is and what is not a spoiler. But hyping an episode is definitly already a kind of spoil to the show...

Plot twists are different than saying an episode is good. Saying there will be one is a mild spoiler. Did L+M knowing that Ozymandias was considered one of the best episodes of TV ever going into it change how they reacted and appreciated it? I really don't think so. And saying that Hero is a great episode shouldn't either.

I value your opinion Camzeee but totally disagree. If you hype an episode I think it takes away from the surprise because you’re expecting something as you watch to be shocking or a cliff hanger. The more total surprise the better the reaction in my opinion. Just like when someone tells me a movie has a cool plot twist. I’m now looking for the plot twist as I watch and it completely spoils the experience.

I think people are so afraid of spoilers in this community that every little thing they think is 'spoiling it'. Hyping a future episode isn't spoiling an episode. It might set an expectation but getting to that point anyway sets expectations pretty high tbh. Saying what's going to happen is spoiling an episode. I keep seeing on YT that people think there are loads of spoilers. There really aren't. It's been pretty good so far imo.

I know you both have started s3p1. Just a warning that you should skip s3p2 opening as it contains major spoilers and would most likely ruin your experience. It's not like s2 opening, you would understand much more in s3p2 opening.

@berserker I get you. I think i see it the way if people would be hyping up a certain episode they would go into that episode already full knowing something crazy will go down and thus wouldn't be such a pure reaction/experience. That's why i think the reaction to the armoured and colossal reveal was so good because nobody was constantly telling them that they can't wait to get to that episode. Anyways i thought deleting this discussion would be just for the best so we could end the hostility. Sorry that you got personally attacked, that is not ok.

@wade good point. Well, honestly it's not much of a hype intended information, but more like a small helpful notice for them. After all, they are not only Reactors, but also Reviewers that give general critique and opinions on what makes a given episode great. This notice in no shape or form would change their actual reaction of the episode when they watch it, but rather open a discussion about the episode when they finish watching it.... That's it.. Unfortunately, this discussion should stay here, just to show how some people behaved here.

It's spoiler free but it will give expectations to that episode which will influence how they will view the episode and that will lead to a change in their reaction or maybe they think that it didn't live up to the hype so it made the episode lesser.(Hype ruined demon slayer for me personally). I think it would be best to delete this chaos of a discussion.

And back to the comment where i said "we should hype", well, sure maybe I was wrong, maybe the "hype" wasn't really needed, that's a legit fair point and I respect that (even if it was the complete opposite with Breaking Bad, but you guys know better right). But to actually lash out like this when someone mentions the rating of an episode is insane and unnecessary. How is this any different than people here saying "I loved this reaction, the next episode is even better, you will have more questions to figure out"?

Yeah I don't think I've ever enjoyed something more because someone hyped it up for me lol. In fact it sometimes lessens the enjoyment. We get your excitement but if the show is good enough then they'll enjoy it without anyone needing it hype it up for them.

We should hype them for Season 3 episode 17 (Hero), just like we did with Ozymandias. So it appears that on IMBd, Ozymandias is the #1 most rated TV episode of all time, but I've noticed on #2 it was actually none other than Attack on Titan's "Hero" episode. The episode is incredible, I'm looking forward to see you guys watch it.

how are you liking season 3 so far? do you like the change of pace? Quick show fact: The creator was very self-conscious about season 3 and how it will turn out animated, but when he saw the final product he was very pleased. Thanks for the great reactions as always.
