- Are people mad that they didn't get the flowers and rainbows ending where everything goes the hero's way and they automatically win the day with no real consequences ? No loss or sacrifice ? How boring and predictable, like how they were saying the whole time that they weren't worried at all about whether Korra would win in the end because "of course" she would, and if you think that watching a show then it kills the experience and if it's like that every time then it's lousy writing.

- The order of events never occurred to me before and now I'm a little crushed by it. @___@ Rava was pulled from Korra and immediately afterward Aang appeared before Tenzin, and spent what appear to be his last moments to help his son struggling with his identity... and after Aang's final act in this world, his spirit was dispersed by Vaatu.... I don't think this was an accident, they did the cutaways back and forth with intention here. If that was really Aang and not just something in Tenzin's mind, this may be one of the saddest moments in the Avatar universe. x________x

Why though?

Based on what happens in Beginnings, I don't think it's necessarily the case, or even likely to be the case that humans started the conflict. In Wan's time, humans could only live in four specific places, and if they went anywhere else spirits would apparently attack them on sight. Perhaps the conflict wasn't entirely the fault of the spirits-- it's possible some humans reacted poorly to these strange creatures appearing out of nowhere in their world. But it's also possible spirits were the aggressors. All we really learn directly is that they've entered and taken over the mortal world following Vaatu breaking down the divide between realms. What you're saying is more in line with how spirits were depicted in AtLA. For better or for worse, they (with some exceptions) are less eldritch nature spirits and more just a different "species" in LoK. I also don't think Unalaq respected spirits, so much as tricked them into believing he did, but that's a separate issue.

Yes, this season is the worst but it does have amazing moments. I don't think that erasing the connections was a mistake, I get why people get upset but I think they always blow it out of proportion and give Korra so much hate for it. Season 3 is amazing and season 4 is also pretty damn good.

It's unfortunate how much the fact that it's a "kid's show" or that it's on Nickelodeon can detract from the emotional investment in a scene by eliminating the tension. I think that will improve soon though 👀

Respecting spirits is the same as respecting nature. Nature will kill you/hurt you without discrimination. Spirits are more than just another entity. They are superior. They have shown when respect is given, they reciprocate like with Air Nomads or some Water tribe members. Look at Unalaq. Good or bad, he respected spirits immensely and wasn't treated by them with disrespect. Hell, Wan Shi Tong considers him to be an friend. My point is, Humans had to have started this conflict between the two based on the fact that most spirits DO in fact treat humans with respect when THEY are shown respect.

Dario

It's definitely the lowpoint of either show.

the Forgiven

wow this was an awesome episode!

ReactorHero

My biggest criticism of this season (thought the issue stretches over in to later seasons) is that the writers never really grappled with how much of the conflicts between humans and spirits were primarily caused by the spirits. It's brought up with some accuracy that humans have lost their ties to the spiritual and don't respect the spirits, but Korra, who is supposed to mediate between the worlds, doesn't call the spirits out for their general arrogance and lack of respect towards humans. Wan doesn't really address the point his friend made, that Vaatu's corrupted spirits didn't treat humans all that differently from regular spirits.

Jacob

You're not wrong tbh

Kolton Nay

same but we have book 3 tho

GodKingSosa

we are almost their gang BOOK 3 is almost here THE BEST BOOK IN THE AVATAR SERIES IS APON US. THATS RIGHT I SAID WAT I SAID LOL BOOK 3 HYPE LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GodKingSosa

i love this episode second best episode of book 2 after the wan and vaatu final fight. also a lot of people don't give korra enough credit cuz of the past lives being taken from her but she did win her fight against vaatu she was about to seal him and then well u know the rest great episode love that they went with such a new direction with the show and it only gets better from here

GodKingSosa

naw one of the best actually. also are u trolling or are u deadass forreal

GodKingSosa

i can clear that up for you friend. so the avatar is connected to the other avatars. they exist outside the current avatar as spirts. korra only lost her connection to them but you can actually meet them in the spirit world as separate entity's but its really hard to do you have to have a strong connection to them like tenzin did with his dad aang

GodKingSosa

PS: it's hilarious how NOT KYOSHI is everyone's reaction to that scene. That was my reaction and I've seen quite a few reaction videos and many of them were like that.

I found amusing how some people consider this episode one of the worst of the show just because they didn't like the decision of the creators. Please, I love the show but I admit there's some things I don't like how they handeled, but this espisode is not one of them.

sand_fl

i read somewhere on reddit that korra was meant as a new beginning of the avatar cycle. remember when katara first discovered the avatar statute, and the statue was formed in a circular pattern. Theres only 2 space left at the end and that was meant for aang, and another one which is for korra. Since korra is the last one, the avatar cycle ends and begins through her. It's only a theory of course honestly i was fucking mad when the creator decided to go with THIS

Aji Saka

How do we tell them ? *_*

Dan Mena

Worst episode ever.

tofuwater

I remember simultaneously hating and liking this episode. I found it gutsy that they would actually "go there" and destroy the previous Avatars, but at the same time, it seemed written so that they WOULD fail. And I was so over Unalaq that I just wanted Korra to kick his ass (especially at the end, when as Vaatu he looked like an overgrown playing card). Also I liked that they showed Aang older when he spoke to Tenzin. It makes sense that Tenzin would remember him older. So we've now seen Aang as a kid, a teen (in the comics), as a 40 year old, and now as an older man in his 50's.

Caomhan84

I'm not sure what the official answer is, but i don't think Tenzin saw actual Aang (since Aang's "soul" is in Korra, and that scene was separate), rather a manifestation of how he saw his father. It was a moment of self-reflection, boosted by the Spirit World. Hence why it turned to Tenzin in the end.

I get chills every time I see the Avatars count down
