@Toidieboy Gaming - Yes, it was their creative decision to include it. But from the way I have constructed my points, I am sure you can guess that I was not happy with watching it and I couldn't believe why they would include such a teaser. I did not see the point of watching such an important scene from a point that is half a season in advance. During the episodes in between, some of my friends kept wondering how they would end up in the situation that the scene teased - wouldn't you think (at least to some of us) that we would want to just have an organic viewing experience without any hints or teases whatsoever from the episodes beyond where we are currently at? I am one of these people and I think you can gather from the number of likes on my initial post that many people here share that thought too. Also, for the fourth time, I cannot stress enough that it's just an opinion. An opinion that I kindly ask you not to "laugh your ass off" at; as again, many other people here share this opinion with me. I was simply giving a heads up. And again, I said that the decision is entirely up to them after hearing out what their fans have to say.

Second, Ymir's backstory is never formally recontextualized after that point, at least not in the anime. And lastly, if you really consider it a spoiler, why did you confirm it in your reply, and much more explicitly than I did at that?

2021-08-03 04:16:55 +0000 UTCStop. let them theorise with what they pick up on. i would delete your comment if you want a more interesting reaction later down the line. that info card was heavily criticised when it came out for being unnecessarily spoilerish and ruining the whole point of the flashback. someone crafted Ymir's backstory in the anime to be shown without any context so you have no idea what's going on, so it would be recontextualised later when you realise it's outside the walls, and then some idiot made a mid-episode info card to literally give away the twist

If they were watching this show as it aired, which they basically are at 2 eps/week, then they would have watched it regardless. Unless you slow it down and analyze frame by frame you cannot really spoil anything.

They basically re-watch these episodes multiple times during edits and I think L&M have even mentioned re-watching some episodes just to recap the information. @Isaac I would definitely be disappointed if they DID watch it. Their theories are a big part of the experience for me and we would miss out on that if they spoiled a major scene by watching a preview. I'd bet money that it would give them the answers you think it wouldn't. L&M are incredibly attentive and I've seen multiple other channels do exactly what DeX is describing. My opinion is yeah it's a cool reaction if I only tuned into a reaction channel to see that one thing. I have a much different opinion when I've been with the reaction channel from episode 1 and some people start suggesting they watch a preview. No previews/trailers/teasers since episode 1, why start now? Difference of opinion but I'd hate for what DeX describes to happen and I believe it would.

It was only necessary to whet appetites for the 8 month break between parts 1 and 2 and serves no narrative purpose. The girls are astute and I'll bet they understand the full significance of the scene two episodes before it happens, thus ruining a lot of the impact and weight of "that" episode. But alas, as @DeX said, this is a minority opinion.

I agree, although I still wouldn't recommend; if the ladies watch it once and leave it at that, it *should* be okay. EDIT: Actually, I still wouldn't think it is okay. Even if the viewer was unable to predict what would happen, that cliffhanger will be like a daunting subconscious timebomb.

I have also mentioned twice it's an unpopular opinion, which from the overwhelmingly negative response to my post, is correct and the ladies will see that. I am not trying to control their viewing experience, but just to give a heads up from an AoT fan to them, other AoT fans - I say the same to my personal friends. But you're right, maybe I did use too strong of a word in "discourage" and should have used "not recommend" but I have said that in the end, it's up to them. When you see the events unfolding, you already know what will happen - wouldn't you agree that the shock factor would be much better if you had no reference from the cliffhanger at all?

2021-07-30 23:34:29 +0000 UTCHey Girls I know this would be against popular opinion but there will be a major spoiler-cliffhanger preview scene in the middle of S3E12's mid-season finale's end credits that I personally discourage you to watch (I'm sure most would disagree with me though, as they would want to see your reactions to it). But you girls are very analytical and will probably connect the dots from the scene the show will present to you in the cliffhanger. There will be more than enough data there for you to actually predict what will happen in the epic second half of Season 3 to follow. It personally slightly spoiled the AoT experience for me as it was such a huge spoiler, and I wouldn't wish for that to happen to you guys too. But that's just my (unpopular) opinion, and in the end, it's up to you girls. Overall, loving your organic reactions to the show, keep up the good work! 👍

It will take them roughly 4,4 months to catch up with the show with the schedule girls have now (of course if they don't take breaks). + I didn't count OVAs. I guess they will be finishing season 4 part 1 somewhere around the end of december. Season 4 part 2 is coming in january.
