2021-08-05 21:51:47 +0000 UTCYes that's what the torturer guy meant... but he is still wrong about Hange replacing his role. Maybe the main difference is whom they serve. The interior police guy is serving corrupt officials in power trying to protect their own interests while Hange is serving the Scout Regiment who are giving up their lives for the people and the welfare of humanity. (Heh he, don't mind me I just wanted to post on the latest one.)

2021-07-30 21:51:13 +0000 UTCWhat the military police guy meant was that the roll of torture and cruelty on behalf of power is a roll that continues to be passed on. Levi and Hange, in torturing the police and the scouts attempting to orchestrate a coup, are already on the first steps to "starting the act again". That's why he said "good luck, Hange." he means in taking on the same burden of power which he had spent his life spilling blood and becoming a monster for, and that they are his successors in that regard.

2021-07-30 21:49:52 +0000 UTCSo that conversation with Hange and the Military police prisoners is actually very underrated and interesting. These special military police role is to make sure there is nothing that disturbs humanity's peace within the walls. Thus, their job is to eliminate any threat or possibility that would disturb that peace. They are guard dogs essentially. Doing the dirty work to make sure that peace continues within the walls. That's why when that guy mentioned "this role of ours has an order" and "good luck Hange" hes implying that no matter what, someone else will replace them in their role of dirtying their hands for the "sake of humanity" and ofc in this case he was implying Hange and the others were next in line.
