At a base level. Yes they have always been peaceful. Even since the origin of bending, the early Air Nomads were kind, peaceful, and kept to themselves. But yes they were peaceful since the start. And that tradition has carried on through the generations.

2021-08-30 00:49:51 +0000 UTCAlso from my understanding, before Genocide and Republic city each element was pretty segregated and didn't have any air benders born into other nations. Air benders were born to air nomads but were raised in the community. It's not until well after the 100 year war is over that communities and cultures started mixing.

2021-08-26 21:10:42 +0000 UTCRe: air nomad traditions around families. Its a communal style where children are raised together by groups of nuns and monks. Its different cultural values, I imagine it has to do with attachment and learning to see all children as your children.
