Sasha, while attacking Reiner, coming up with Eren - Mikasa's line, "and If we don't fight, we cannot win ...." Goes to show how much they have grown closer. Also, this is Levi's second encounter only with a intelligent titan. Completely decimates both titans

I understand Milena's perspective, but (episode 18 spoiler) this was foreshadowed from the end of part 1 and I think would've been a beautiful conclusion to Armin's arc. it would actually show how high the stakes are by making you understand the characters you love can die. so far no characters have really died without it being a way for them to fulfil their goal and Shingeki is supposed to be about tragedy

I would LOVE this. I definitely am in favour of breaking up the series so they have time before S4, bc boy S4 completely changes everything. It's also true in a meta sense. S3 is the last season done by the original studio, and you can tell with how they handled the last episode to be a sendoff. But even with just the story in the original manga, Season 3 Part 2 is kind of like the climax and feels like the end of the original story

@Ron C I appreciate the respectful disagreement. I'm not saying they couldn't have figured it out without 3x12's ending, but watching it certainly makes it much more likely, no? It's still a fantastic reaction and I'm not saying there should be more tears or something (that even felt weird to type). But I do think the narrative changes if you don't believe that Armin is really dead -- which, hey, they may well have still been in denial without the stinger, I just never understood why as a community the overwhelming sentiment was to encourage that "minor" spoiler.

I don't think, humbly, that you're right. We all have a retrospective knowledge about these episodes, making us think they could have never figured out the next episode without the ending of 3x12. But I honestly don't think it ruins everything of the impact of Armin's death. Just look at Lola's reaction. What would you want? More tears =)? There was enough sorrow and incomprehension as is imho

If you look closely at the end credits of 3x12, you can see a little burnt body on the roof, lol. I think everyone was crossing their fingers that you wouldn't notice.

Armin's sacrifice in a way mirrors Eren's when he died in Episode 5 to save Armin from Santa Titan's mouth. Armin had always asked himself how Eren could do that and be so brave. And now he did himself.

So the space between this episode and the next one is why I was against them watching the 3x12 tag. Because Lola basically figured it out before this episode even ended that the confrontation was going to be about Eren wanting to use the syringe on Armin. When there's a pretty strong clue that Armin's story isn't over, it detracts from the impact of his "death."
