look, this poll might not make sense but it's what we're doing. we didn't want longer shows rn, these are shorter and seem interesting to us. 

now, everyone is gonna ask about vinland saga and we're not ignoring you, we planed to watch that one for a while, but s2 seems to be coming out later this year and we want to wait until they announce when it's coming out and then we'll start it so that we don't have to pause in-between.

Each currently has 402 votes, going back and forth from one leading the other occasionally. I think Mob has spent more time in the lead but Steins;Gate spent substantial time in the lead too. Not confusing, it's literally nonsensical. They change something like whether they know a person or not which would turn your whole life around and change everything, but in the show they end up in the same room at the same time with the most minor differences in their past. A show that does time travel well is Dark. Steins is just convenient and poor.

They're expressing a feeling I agree with and hate about polls like these. To Your Eternity was bound to lose not because of quality but because of the amount of people that haven't watched it. @Sabaru you need to take some things with a grain of salt. It's still written by an author who's influenced by his culture, and those outside of said experiences can't dictate solely based on their moral codes or belief systems. It doesn't have to be excepted, but it can still be appreciated if you understand where it's coming from. Affection and the many forms it takes, determined by the influences of those who show affection and the medium of entertainment, both the industry and desires of breaking the mold with thoughtful consideration to how it is being told and will be received, will always deter those who are unfamiliar or biased against said behavior. I am in no way saying it is appropriate, but I did still enjoy the passion between their interactions, the pacing and rhythm of the execution, and the meaning behind such antics. Most of the questionable content in the show comes down to how comfortable the characters are with one another and the reality of how people explore their personal relationships. I don't think any of it was in bad taste, except for the toothbrush scene, which I will never condone simply because the majority of the audience will never possess the maturity to look past the absurdity of the scene and didn't need as much screen time as it received.

They're watching Fma in dub but had to get the subtitles version because sometimes they would miss what the characters said in dub so I think they will be OK with Japanese sub but yes it is a complex series for some people but I think they will be fine, LM's intelligence & attention to detail is more than above average. 🙂

@Subaru Do you mean Light? Because they didn't hate L. They liked him quite a lot while knowing he's not a perfectly good person. And I can't agree that they will hate Llelouch more than Light. While it's true that female characters were "sexaulized, disabled, murdered, memory wiped, or married off" - I believe they are all balanced out by their other characteristics so these things aren't "all they are" whereas Misa didn't have any other redeeming qualities. Those are things that "happened" to these female characters, these are not their "character" if you understand what I mean. I think you will be surprised how much LM will be able to see the nuance in these characters and will not find these things as the writer putting down women. Tragedy happens to characters all the time - male or female. It doesn't define a character. All I can say is, I have followed several of their series and listened to most of their discussions and I agree with their opinions like 95% of the time which I never do with other reactors. So from this point I am fairly confident that LM will really enjoy Code Geass and will not end up feeling the way you do. But I also admit that I can be wrong. Maybe Code Geass will be the one show that LM disagree with me on. We will see.

Also this is the Llelouch show. Every character either is on his side or isn't. And the other faction introduced in the 2nd season is lead by a guy who is marrying an actual child bride. If they hated L, they would DESPISE Llelouch

I still love code Geass, but you cannot name a single female character who isn't sexaulized, disabled, murdered, memory wiped, or married off. Even the Code Geass fans made fun off this with the infamous "Table-kun". Scene. And the fanservice is absolutely insane, not just my opinion. This show has full nudity 3 or 4 times just outta nowhere where even most echii anime dont even show nipples. Showing Kallen's nipples during a shower scene or having her in a bunny outfit isn't adding to the story, it is just the fluff between the good parts. Even the character I think there would like the most, Suzaku, has his agency taken away while not being nearly has integral to the story like an L from death note.

@Subaru I agree to some extent mainly about the eyecandy but even then I don't think it's as much as you believe. So it's a difference in standard. What you find to be eyecandy, to me I don't. The second part I simply disagree completely. No agency, super submissive, worshipping MC etc - yeah we must have watched a different show. Maybe one or two characters but not all of them. If LM ever watches CG, I doubt they will feel the way you do.

Bruh after posting this I just remembered SPOILERS: Even C.C. loses her memory and agency throughout the show. And to go more indepth on how C.G. is a show of moments that applies narratively as well. There are 6 or 7 REALLY good moments, especially the season enders, but in between there is a lot of fluff to the point that episode to episode discussion would be stagnant. And who would they even root for? Not Llelouch

Bruh C.C is eyecandy the entire show, and Kallen is shown ass first in her mech 50% of the time. Yes in comparison to DN the fenale characters do more, but that bar is low as it is. Besides CG is a show of moments. The female characters will have one or 2 moments of agency but otherwise are super submissive or essentially worshiping or kissing up to the MC. Spoilers: This is so bad that 2 female characters lose their memory with one going from a badass to a pregnant housewife who is shown both naked and randoming in a string bikini at a school, and the other's character is only manipulated by the MC until her death

yes, there is sexualization with purpise, but there is the same amount without purpose. You can't tell me the Hachikuji stuff was super deep as the MC does those things to her. And it sucks cuz the series would be better without the sexualization. That's why it's weird when Senjohara's storyline is treated so seriously, but not far after the MC is touching every little girl in the series without exception.

As much as Steins Gate has "certain" sexism commentary, that is faaar from the main focus of the story. The show has an incredibly heartfelt sibling bond and that is something they have been begging for. I think they will love the Okabe Mayuri relationship. I don't feel like Stein's Gate is sexist at all though. There's only one problematic character (Daru) and he's being told to shut up by everyone everytime he does one of his jokes. If anything Stein's Gate is just really weird and confusing and not for everyone. It's kinda hard to enjoy at first, but by the end of it, it became one of my all time favorite anime, so it's definitely worth it. There's a reason it's on so many top 10 anime.

I'm also totally confused by this. Monster and To Your Enternity would be nice. The fact that Stein's Gate got so many votes, even though both legitimately started a sexism debate due to Misa's character in Death Note, is just inexplicable. Lol, I'm throwing Monogatari out there simply because of the backlash I'll receive. Never seen anyone even consider reacting to it, but its structure is so nonuniform I think it would pose the best conversations. It's sexual, but not without purpose. Every girl has a different theme and message that is portrayed through their sexualization, and I think it says a lot about those who watch it and those who can't understand the message behind it.

I rewatched Steins Gate last year and everything is just so unbearably sexist that I think Lola and Milena will hate the show. Every character is practically Misa Amane. The plot is cool and was also why I remembered it well for a long time, but 10 years ago I just wasn't mature enough to see the problems of the show. But I also like to be surprised. Maybe they will fall in love with the show. However, I suspect that they will hate it abysmally.

Yeah, I think Mob Psycho 100 is a great choice. It is wholesome, funny and emotionally poignant. I have never related to a character more than I do Mob. The show also has a great dub! I hope you won't mind prompting another poll to chose sub or dub cause it's my favorite dub of any show.

My personal opinion is that all 5 of these shows are better in Sub, but the only one worth a discussion is Steins;Gate. Much like FMAB, Steins;Gate has one of the best English Dubs of a major anime of all time in my personal opinion, I think the biggest reason being that the translator who worked on the script and directed the cast is the same guy who plays the lead character Okabe. He brought a lot of love and passion for the game to his script and it's a really really good translation. The issue is though that I think the Japanese performance is perhaps straight up one of the best ensemble performances in all of anime lmao, particularly from Mamoru Miyano (again, as the lead) and Kana Hanazawa. If you're going for straight 'which is the better quality' then it's still the sub in my opinion, but the dub is rock solid and doesn't detract from the quality of the show.

But I think their bigger issue with Misa is that she's not a character or that her entire character was sexualized. She doesn't have much purpose aside from those fan service shots + some plot conveniences. Whereas in Code Geass, their female characters are actually characters. Kallen, CC, Euphemia, Cornelia, Shirley etc - they're all well written characters. Even if you strip away the visual fan service, they still have purpose in the story. Now I don't know if LM will have an issue with the fan service stuff or not. But I think at the very least they will enjoy the female characters in the show. These are characters you can actually root for.

Sad Code Geass is losing but glad you guys at least considered it. I think it's a show you guys will really enjoy. People comment about sexualization, Code Geass has some visual fan service but it doesn't sexualize a female's "character" like Death Note does. Sexualizing a character is way worse than simply some sexy shots. Aside from visual fan service, IMO Code Geass treats its female characters with respect. Some intelligent, some badass, and just well written overall. I believe LM will be able to look pass those superficial fan service stuff. Anyway, since it's losing it's not like it really matters now. Hope they'll watch it one day down the line though.

Mob Psycho is a slice of life above all else, learning to accept who you are. That’s why I love it. I only started watching it because of One Punch Man, but I was surprised by its genuine depth in a sea of amazing anime. It’s the pacing that’s most impressive, even more than it’s animation. Short anime that get to the point have always had a deeper impact on me than long hauls, but there are exceptions of course: Gintama, One Piece, and of course FMAB. What’s your favorite short anime?

I didn’t like Naruto or Bleach. I do like FMAB and AoT and I love Mob Psycho. I could care less about the fighting or psychic stuff, it’s the characters and theme that I love most about this show. Honestly, just writing it off as a fighting show makes me think you haven’t seen it.

I strongly agree. I feel like they will basically feel obligated to finish Mob Psycho but won't be excited about it. There's nothing to theorize or really talk about, aside from the art/animation. Definitely not a great fit for this channel. If it's selected, I hope I'll be proven wrong, but I doubt it. Maybe we'll have our first uncompleted reactions if they drop out after a few episodes if they don't connect with it. I'd hate it if they react to it for 25 weeks just by obligation. That would be such a waste...

These two won't appreciate Mob as much as you all do. They don't have the anime experience which makes makes Mob entertaining and funny. If you take in LM's personal taste, you would understand that they won't connect with the Mob cast. LM won't connect with Mob and they will despise his boss. They like characters that feel human. I was very surprised by how much i loved it and how character/human relationships-focused it is, on top of being an amazing sci-fi show about time travel as well. I'd love to see them react to it. If you're basing your watchlist on the opinion of the general public, you will miss out on an ocean of valuable art :) Some aspects of AoT were obviously inspired by CG but they are very different stories with very different characters. CG has some flaws but the quality of the writing and the story itself is more than worth a watch.

Mob does the power scaling thing ironically though. It satirizes the traditional anime formula rather than follow it to a tee. And the primary focus is on the characters and themes. Currently reading berserk right now and I’m absolutely obsessed. The 97 anime was a fun watch after I finished golden age (and the soundtrack is fantastic) but imo it’s definitely not how one should be introduced to the series. I'm with Mahni, One's writing is extremely focused on interpersonal relationships and responsibility, and siblings and family is a big theme in MP100, seems right up their alley from my perspective. It doesn't hurt that the animation is absolutely stellar and overflowing with style either, but that's not the core of what makes the show amazing.

Steins Gate would be the best pick but there might be a problem with copyrights for this show. Code Geass has a great story and characters but it also has a lot of unnecessary fan service in season 2. Mob Psycho is very entertaining, but the story is not that deep (in my opinion).

Code Geass is a lot like Death Note with a smart character trying to change the world they live in, but in Code Geass the main characters reasons are more understandable which makes it more interesting to watch, although I do think Death Note is a better show, Code Geass is definitely worth a watch!
