Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Episode 14 Reaction

Comments

@sand_fl I have read the manga, multiple times! I was actually a fan of the series when the manga was still coming out (let me tell you, the month wait between chapters was brutal). I highly recommend it! Brotherhood is a good adaptation overall, but there are a lot of little things that didn’t get adapted that add up after a while. Plus the way it’s paced is different, and I think flows better. The mangaka Hiromu Arakawa is also really great at drawing expressions, and some of those panels are just gutting as a result.

Greed was around for just two episodes, but his passage was so impactful that he is still one of the most beloved sins. He was not exactly pure evil, the way he called his henchman "possessions" looks more like a rationalization of his greedy nature than his actually true feelings. I think it's reasonably to assume that he cares at least in some degree about his partners. Especially by the way they cared about him.

BBT

@cosmotron have you read the manga? i was thinking of staring it when i finish the vinland saga i've only read part of the aot manga, jjk and chainsaw man so i'm not well versed in the manga world

sand_fl

Barely anyone reacts to the original and there's also the title of the vid, the episode count etc.. I don't think anyone would get confused about it...

Rinne

When he said I've had to kill you 15 times he meant like.. right there... in this episode. He had cut Greed down over and over again and was wondering when he was going to run out of "juice". They had not met before. All of the "kills" were in this instance.

I think the manga specifies that Al doesn’t really remember their dad, while Ed does. In particular we’ve seen he remembers their dad leaving enough to have bad dreams about it. So because Al doesn’t remember him very well, he just doesn’t have the same kind of resentment that Ed does.

cosmotron

Has anyone ever noticed how Ed is the one with constant daddy issues while Al seems neutral at worst about their father?

@Rinne There was an older version called Full Metal Alchemist. This is the updated version called Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and way better graphics and story but this second version was called Brotherhood so that’s an important part to distinguish new comers watching which version it is especially with the full reactions.

Ken Drummer

I need it yesterday

Brandon Rodriguez

Specificity I suppose, is it really that much more complicated?

sammi

Where is the full length

Tyron

Right

Griff

I like the dub better too

WB

idk why overcomplicate. Almost every reactor I've seen calls it Fullmetal.

Rinne

Do you not know what a spoiler is, or what?

Koala Banana

If you don't wanna say the whole title (it is a mouthfull), I vote you call it "F M A Brotherhood"

sammi

Why would you say that? Let them speculate ffs.

Rinne

you guys get to meet my favorite character in the series next episode!! cant wait!

LelouchFam

oh pride most definitely exists :)

LelouchFam

Selim Bradley.

Mahni Alizadeh

I actually think the voice in the dub is better.

Robert H.

Yeah his voice in the original literally scarred me for life. If i even hear his va irl i might just die right there. Theres so much more in the original like omg i creamed myself when he started talking omg. Im so gay

Im smarter than u

when Braddley said that he killed Greed 15 times, he meant in that battle. Each time he cut him with his sword, he was "killing" him. Even Greed in the last episode when Roa crushed his head with the hammer, he says: "That was one time I died".

BBT

Just pointing out that Bradley killed Greed 15 times in that sewer, not that he killed him in the past!

Curtis

I remember seeing a real news: woman goes blind after getting tattoos on her eye. Bradley: Amateurs!!

Joey Joseph Jojoson

Hail to the king

Brandon Rodriguez

This is a great story reveal episode

Arshan

his voice in the original give me chills and make me uncomfortable as fuck. amazing work from the va.

sand_fl

I agree. He sounds so bland and wooden in the dub.

Tyler Jackson

When an episode answers your questions, but then gives you 50 more questions

Jimmy Vo

by the way, i've tried but i cannot find the phonetic transcription of hohenheim and i cannot write it here anyway. but it's pronounced 'hoenhaim' more or less, the h in the middle is mute while the first and the last are aspirated. hope this helps a little for further discussions though i have to say i love milenas's interpretation of his name 'hohehab' was it? 😅

sand_fl

And now you know the narrator of the show 🙂

Raziel_BBT

i have to say i like the father's voice in the original MUCH more it lacks something in the dub i love this episode

sand_fl

One interesting thing to note for all us EdxWinry shippers out there, now that we have seen both Ed and Al’s experience going through the gate. They see largely the same things, but with one difference if you look carefully. Ed sees Winry while passing through his gate, and Al does not. 👀 This is easier to spot in the manga, as it’s a still page, but it’s here in the anime as well.
