Lalo now the show is next level hype

akiro somp

Probably from clickbait YouTube vids

T0ast

akiro somp the show and writing was incredible even before Lalo so please stop simping over Lalo or perhaps change your name to akiro simp. lol

Ken Drummer

@Isaac - Good point, I'm not sure how I missed that part of the review lol - I blame the weed. Cheers mate

Dustywood

@Andrés Guerrero - though in Breaking Bad, Saul did mention he was a friend of the Cartel - these writers do build backstories of characters in their writing rooms to establish character ark despite not being displayed in the show, in order to build the characters psychology background - so it is entirely possible the Lalo story could have been briefly covered in the writing rooms back in Breaking Bad - and there's no denying the genius of the writers of this show.

Dustywood

u mean the ex second wife thing?

JoloPolo

andres that plot point is expanded upon in next season cant talk more except it would be tiny bit spoilery, but your wrong.

T0ast

I think you are exaggerating, it is not mega complicated to create a character from a name said randomly in the original series. Sure, the writers are brilliant, but they're not the magnum opus either, I still remember the time Saul mentioned in BB how his ex-second wife cheated on him with his stepfather, which apparently never happened.

JoloPolo

Lalo was mentioned in Breaking Bad by Saul when Jesse and Walter try to scare Saul by taking him out to the desert to die.

Dario

@TeaDrinker3000 Rhea Seehorn and Patrick Fabian never dated. I don't know where you got that from.

Shadoe Price

Ahahaha so true, Lalo deserves absolutely the full attention of everyone, such a great character!

Dustywood

Hes a troll. Just ignore him.

Erlend Loe

damn i never thought about it like that!

assCrackBandit

Ironically, Kim and Howard's actors are dating in real life (or at least did at one point)

TeaDrinker3000

I would have to imagine that most, if not all of people watching these reactions are huge fans of the show. Seems like an odd choice to say to a group of fans that the show was trash. To each their own I guess.

Travonious

Shadoe Price

Ok WE are here Folks when the show actually becomes fun with LALLOOO SALAMANCAAA!!!! LEETSSSSS GOOOOOOOOO The show was trash before LALOO. Season 5's pacing is perfect.

akiro somp

Oh for sure, I know. I was just trying to illustrate a point. Howard was probably a bad example lol.

Taya

Lol I didn't mean Howard specifically. I meant a guy LIKE Howard. Wealthy, successful, upstanding, professional, put together, etc.

Taya

I meant Dustywood :P Peter Gould and the writer's room forming so much of the BCS mythos off of that throwaway line is a brainstorming achievment

Isaac

I'm pretty sure Howard is married, too

Isaac

Thanks! I realize I've been posting novels after every reaction, I was starting to wonder if I'm just rambling on too much, lol. And yes, I agree, a lesser show would've written Kim as just a prop in Jimmy's story. The typical supporting love interest who isn't half as developed as the main character, who's there just to add drama and up the emotional stakes. Instead they've built a fully fleshed, deeply complex character with her own desires, inner conflicts, motivations, and it's fun to see the two personalities affect, influence and play off each other in different ways. I'm actually annoyed by some YT reactors because they seem to really misunderstand Kim, they only see what's on the surface. They reduce her & underestimate her (and Kim herself hates it when people do this!!) But Milena & Lola are very perceptive so they're an exception (so far)

Taya

Yeah chuck died in a fire at night.

T0ast

Lol when I first binged this show I NEVER knew what any character was doing, I was always confused. And I didn't pick up on 1/2 the things the girls notice immediately.

Taya

What's the relevance of the fire? My mind's blanking on that.edit: oh, Chuck??

Taya

Well said Taya. I always love reading your write-ups. I think this turn in Kim's character is such a satisfying take on what could've been a shitty female character. She could've been someone who just refuses to break up with this clearly troubled because it serves his story better, but instead they make her character shift not only beneficial to Jimmy but to her own character arc too. Better Call Saul has such high regard both for its characters and the audience too. Damn, being a BCS fan is so rewarding!

TeaDrinker3000

Lmao I know right? When Milena said "I'm so dumb I can't figure this out" I was like "well what the hell does that make all of us then in comparison?" 😂😂😂 The girls are smarter than I'll ever be

TeaDrinker3000

Dude they just meet him why spoil

T0ast

I think it's interesting that jimmy's fake story that makes huell a hero is saving people from a fire. Maybe it's his subconscious coming out in the con.

T0ast

lalo is the most dangerous salamanca.

WeatherReport

lol I was not expecting you guys to mention Rebelde of all shows haha. the fact that you two recognized Lalo's actor from that is even more shocking. I never watched it tbh and I didn't even know he was in it but I do know it was a very popular show amongst teens in the mid 2000s

pumpkinpie

Oh, I know they talked about it, Netero-san :D I just wanted to express my appreciation for the amazing writing in those shows.

Nikodem

...they talked about it in the review

Isaac

In love with both of you beautiful girls, love how you talk over dialog their ask what was just said or what is going on. screaming into the mic is ?able

Gary

Lola>Lalo

J. Valentine

The fact that they reversed engineered that line into so much just floors me. That is really difficult to do in an organic way.

Josh B

Interesting that when telling the prosecutor why Huell is a hero the scenario he made up was Huell saving people from a fire.

Suhhh Dude

Lalo (Tony Dalton) killing it in the Hawkeye series

mrjackpotz

I've wondered for a while if LM are aware of this connection from Breaking Bad, because that scene from Breaking Bad seems to be the key to this series overall of what is going to possibly happen in Season 6 of Better Call Saul

Dustywood

Brilliant Kim plan! And, yes, Lalo, the greatest late-addition character to a series of all time!

Bryan Givens

LOL oh no, now I have to call you Lalo in the Better Call Saul comments, Lola

Isaac

what do you mean? It's gonna be like he's not even there!

BNJ

also, that ice cold stare that Kim was giving the prosecutor... that was largely because the lady had insulted Jimmy (and by extension, Kim herself). Hence why she took such great pleasure in defeating her. At least that's how I like to interpret it.

Taya

I'm sure they'll be stunned into silence during many of his subsequent scenes.

Taya

This is why I love Kim so much! You think you know where the story is going but then she flips the script and does the opposite of what you expect! But it's never totally out of left field, it always feels natural and consistent with her character, even if it seems puzzling at first. I was SO RELIEVED when she kissed him in the stairwell, it's like seeing your parents make up after they've been fighting all week, lol. But I think this episode kinda reveals something about their relationship... they had been drifting apart for months, and Kim seemed totally over his shit. But working together on a scam brought them closer and reignited Kim's passion for him. When she watches Slippin' Jimmy from a distance, she's not too impressed and only grudgingly accepts it... but when she's a part of it, she loves it and it makes her horny, lol. Interesting too how they first slept together and started dating immediately after scamming Ken Wins. Kim's definitely addicted to the high and I reckon that's a big part of why she's with Jimmy in the first place, as opposed to a normal, respectable guy like Howard. She likes being with someone who is unconventional and colorful, a "bad boy", and likes to get dirty every now and then. if a long stretch of time passes without doing that, their relationship suffers.

Taya

Dangerous doesnt even begin to describe Lalo xD

Danny

Just watch again Breaking Bad Season 2 - Episode 8, when Walter and Jesse kidnapped Saul. You'll see a little reference to this new character ;)

zodwer mendoza

Pretty damn hilarious seeing L & M be stumped at the letter writing campaign in the beginning 🤣 Now they know how everyone else felt when the show does all the schemes we’ve seen over the course of the 5 seasons.

Julian San

Huell's website exists in real life: http://www.freewill-baptistchurch.com/

It looks like Nacho was planning on taking his dad and leaving to Canada, the ID's he had said Manitoba which is in Canada.

BNJ

LALO SALAMANCA BEST SALAMANCA!!!

Taya

Paca paca paca en mi caballo ~ ~ ~

David Caine

You finally meet Lalo Salamanca!!! One of my favorite characters of all time!!!

Daniel

OMG you guys talked all over Lalo's introduction, HOW DARE YOU!?! 😂 Lalo deserves your full attention!

BNJ

Hallo Lalo!

XanderWhat

Ethan Turner

“It wasn’t me! It was Ignacio! Did Lalo send you?” - Saul over a ditch, saying it to Walt and Jesse with a gun to his head, Breaking Bad episode 2x08 I love the writers.
