About begin "weird" in public its pretty much opposite, Japanese society is about staying in line, perfectionism, following others, its L the one that's look's "weird" in public, Light is seen as handsome perfectionist genius by others, and you can see that in many side characters reaction's/comment's about them, so that's argument isn't valid. Death Note don't corrupt people by itself but its power.

I liked the tennis match. The obvious choice to make a comparison of wits was Chess but that's too overdone. You can expect more silly scenes like this in the future, they're really fun. Also I love Ryuk. He isn't one bit impressed by Light. Man is here for some entertainment and he's getting it one way or another. And Light, oh boy. This man really just said "I can't forget to PRETEND to care about my father"

Yeah, i think this theory isn't really interesting, i agree with you. To be fair, i always think that what corrupts people in the Death Note is just the power it gives you. What you become after you're elevated to a god-like power is really only up to you and people will have different reactions to it

some theorize that the death note may have supernatural power to corrupt people but if thats the case, I dont think it would be as interesting to Lights character. Yes, he had that moment where he switched from guilty to hardcore but I think Lights fundamentally built different lol. His world b4 the death note was boring for him and the death note gave him everything he wanted. even being chased by L gives him more enjoyment than anything he felt in his life. I love the comparison between Walter (although Walter wasnt a psychopath) because they def have similarities
