Better Call Saul 5x09 Full Reaction

it’s still processing.. the edited one will be up in the morning

Comments

Robert Forster died on the day El Camino was released as well, public information.

Dustywood

@Shadoe Price, did you even watch that video? They literally confirmed that the scene they used was from El Camino.... I'm not even sure why you're doubling down on this when it's literally on Roberts Wiki / the writers have talked about it / Bob has talked about it.

Dustywood

@Dustywood again, it's not reused footage and they literally said what I commented in the part you timestamped. They shot that scene that is in Better Call Saul specifically for the show *while* they were shooting El Camino. They didn't splice in footage from El Camino, it's not reused, that stuff was specifically shot for Better Call Saul.

Shadoe Price

@Shadoe Price, the writers even spoke about them having to reuse film from El Camino to complete his sequence, see the video here (roughly around 53 seconds): https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=858611817933082

Dustywood

@Shadoe Price, They did Copy & Paste from Wiki: Roles which premiered after Forster's death was in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, reprising the character of Ed the "Disappearer" from the Breaking Bad series. He died on the day the movie was released.[5] He also performed in an episode of the rebooted Amazing Stories television series before his death; the episode was dedicated to Forster.[9] Forster subsequently appeared posthumously in Better Call Saul season 5 as Ed. The episode ended with a dedication to "our friend Robert Forster

Dustywood

Which means he comes to regret what he's doing to Nacho.

Ryan Roach

@Dustywood they didn't reuse footage from El Camino, they shot the scene specifically for Better Call Saul while they were filming the movie because they wouldn't have had the budget to recreate the vacuum shop again for the TV show.

Shadoe Price

@Camzeee the difficulty about that storyline though is the Actor whom played the Disappearer died, and they had to re-use El Camino footage of him to get him into the Better Call Saul universe. It's totally viable, but the actor passing put quite a few scripts out for the show already

Dustywood

No, it wasn't. I follow same time as them. CEST

craftmania

hahahahaha I love it!!

Hitopopamus

@Cloudy, I agree that whatever happens has already been foreshadowed and subtly hinted at.... there are a few clues that make me go "hmmm". I also agree she won't die but I'm still scared, lol. Hard to say about the vacuum guy, he HAS been overused but then again, how did Saul find out about him in the first place? I feel like they'll have to address that

Taya

@TeaDrinker, lmao! @Camzeee, I don't know what will happen to her but I have predictions/theories of some things I think are very likely to happen in s6. Can't talk about them until after 5.10 tho.

Taya

What will happen is Gene will ring Kim to tell her he loved her and he wants to get back together, and to wait for him outside of the house they once dreamed of living in. But on the way there, he gets killed by cartel members who accidentally went after the wrong guy. We then see Kim, waiting outside the house on the pavement, day after day, year after year, like the dog from Futurama. She finally curls into a ball and dies, accepting the fact that maybe Jimmy didn't love her after all...

TeaDrinker3000

craftmania

So... what do you think it is then? Because I have no freaking idea where they intend for Kim's storyline to end up. I personally think she was the first person to use the Vacuum guy and that's how Jimmy knows how to do it. Saul doesn't seem too broken in BB and that at least gives me hope that she didn't die. Maybe she eloped with Lalo lmfao.

Camzeee

Serbian mornings are quite long it seems.

Ron C

We know what'll happen to her. The clues are sprinkled throughout the show, we just haven't pieced them together. From Kim to Nacho to Gene, we likely already have the answers to all their fates. Chuck's death was foreshadowed since S1.

I totally identify with Milena's love of Kim! "Poor Kim" lmaooo. XD She is my queen, I swear to god if anything happens to her in S6... I'm actually really nervous, my heart's gonna be pounding so hard throughout every new episode. Obviously I don't want her to die, first and foremost, but I also don't want anything bad to happen to her at all. I want her to succeed at everything she does, whether it's legal, illegal, good or evil or somewhere in between, I'M ON KIM'S SIDE!!!

Taya

We live in a globalized world. It is always morning somewhere🙃

Dieter Mai

when is morning for these ladies :D need to listen to the discussion asap lol

Krystal

It's so interesting the attention to detail BCS has to ensuring that this takes place in the same world as Breaking Bad. Assuming that I knew a person's television tastes, I'd be inclined to recommend they watch Better Call Saul first.

TeaDrinker3000

Where is the youtube link??

Pablo Martin

Yeah! We can all chat about theories and reactions freely

Isaac

it still shows 360p

PM

Although it sucks that you are at the end of the series, it will be a lot of fun to watch with you in real time when season 6 comes out

BobJ

Same here. It’s been 4 hours now…

Andre

*Jimmy literally ceasing to exist* Milena: "Poor Kim"

Jyn Jilly

It's great because Mike noticeably raises his eyebrow when Gus says that to him. On the rewatch it really feels like Gus is silently saying to Mike "We'll do it your way this time" and Mike is replying with a "well okay then". Obviously that wasn't the original intention of the scene but luckily Jonathan and Giancarlo's performances really sell the reinterpretation.

Shadoe Price

“I don’t find fear to be an effective motivator” Gus is the one who originally says this to Mike in Season 3 of Breaking Bad in reference to his attempts to get Walt to cook again. I think it’s interesting how they recontextualized this line as something Gus heard from Mike first. It makes me think Gus is looking back at the conversation they had in this episode and thinking that Mike was correct.

Eric Wall

Yeah this episode really undercuts Mike's position of hiding the truth from loved ones. If Kim had been completely blindsided by this, if she didn't know about Lalo and hadn't seen the cup she wouldn't have known just how close everything was to falling apart and probably would have kept quiet instead of acting. They could've both wound up dead that night. And I love the blocking of that moment. A lesser show would've telegraphed it more obviously, probably with an upclose shot of Kim's face when Jimmy offers to get the bag so the audience is forced to see her realization. This way makes it so much more subtle of a moment without losing the tension of seeing the back and forth between Jimmy and Lalo. That whole scene is one of the best shot scenes of the whole universe.

Shadoe Price

You summarized it perfectly @TeaDrinker3000, absolutely spot on. Lalo brings a whole new element to this universe, I love it.

Dustywood

How do you guys download it completely? Mine still says processing

briansterrr

Lalo tapping on the glass is a great metaphor for who his character is. He's a great mix between the intellect of Gus, the ruthlessness of Hector, and the unpredictable nature of Tuco. He doesn't want to exhibit brutality as much as he wants to demonstrate others' lack of control in a situation. Seeing Kim weasel her way out of it and outwit him amuses him, rather than angers him. And honestly, I think that's what makes him the scariest antagonist in the Breaking Bad universe.

TeaDrinker3000

Great reaction! Something to add - 3GB and a half seems to be a bit way over the top for this quality and length of your reaction videos. Choosing a different file format (such as mp4) and learning about the basics of conservative video exporting and its settings can save you time in exporting, uploading and especially processing. Just wanted to share my thoughts, if you are struggling with something, let us know.

Berserker

Best Kim episode by far.

Mati D.

Legit the best female character of all time

Dustywood

Kim is absolutely amazing in this episode, I particularly like the part where Jimmy offers to give the money back to Lalo which is in the bag, and Kim has a sudden realization that the "Worlds Best Lawyer" cup is inside the bag with bullet holes, and if Lalo saw that - it would ruin Jimmy's story to Lalo. In that moment, you see Kim processing the realization that Jimmy is lying to everyone in that room about what happened, and without hesitation she goes and protects him and goes hard on Lalo to distract him from looking inside the bag. Also, with Lalo banging on that Fish tank, that very blue Fish Tank, it's as if Lalo is looking down upon the small fish which is Jimmy (a solo fish ironically??), the big Underworld looking down upon Jimmy's small legal world, knocking the fish tank as if he's knocking into Jimmy's world with ultimate power over him. Best episode of the series.

Dustywood

The best episode of the show. Here we go.
