The following can be considered a minor spoiler, but I just really see it wrong everywhere, unfortunately: Ymir does not build every titan in the Paths. She only has to create the Titans that the Founder Titan created out of thin air. That's why we only see her building Colossal Titans from the sand, more specifically Wall Titans. The Pure Titans and the Titanshifter Titans are determined by the serum and the Titan power. How big a Pure Titan is is determined by the serum. How a Titan looks visually depends on the person, their personality, and other conditions (will become clearer what the other conditions are in later episodes).

Guys. I need to clarify. I never meant that people cheering on Eren meant they were pro Genocide. I just like it when reactors are emotionally invested in the world and its people and their well-being. Of course, you can love this show and support Eren without being pro Genocide. Likely, reactors that cheer him on just love his character and his drive and determination. People don’t need to engage in literary analysis to enjoy the show. It’s just something I like doing as a book nerd. I for one, don’t support his actions, and I’m the only one in my friend group who doesn’t. That’s why it’s refreshing to see people who share my opinions. Hope this clears everything up! I don’t want to start a heated debate.

Thanks Jacob. Couldn't agree more. I never claimed that there can't be a connection between your reaction to fictional scenarios and characters and your real moral system. There can be but it certainly isn't as clear-cut and unavoidable as Victor suggests. Like you said, people could be on Eren's side for all sorts of reasons (entertainment value, your mood on any given day, etc.). I simply reject the insanely insulting and short-sighted claim that everyone who is cheering for Eren in a fictional anime show must be in favor of global genocide in the real world. It's also a plus if you don't put your own opinion on a pedestal by calling the other side of the argument dumb.

I've had trouble with the character of Ymir since I learned about this part of the story. Mild (technical) spoilers, but.... If I recall correctly, she did actually set the pigs free. When she had no power, she rebelled, albeit in a very small way; but with the power of a god, she merely served. That's really hard for me to wrap my head around.

Right now, the Rumbling is somewhat theoretical (it started, but it hasn't reached anyone yet), so that's almost like a second layer of fantasy on top of the first. But even so, to Victor's point, people love to argue about things on the internet, even heatedly, whether fiction or not. I don't think that's necessarily conclusive.

Honestly, both sides of this argument are somewhat true. To what extent a person's engagement with a fiction story, especially a speculative fiction story, reflects that person's morals and ethics will vary based on the person, and on the story. Hell, even the person's mood could change that. Sometimes there's going to be a strong reflection, sometimes it's going to be a mild reflection. Sometimes you (general you) might just be engaged for entertainment, with no/little larger implications. A total disconnect isn't all that common, but "it's fiction" is still a valid point to bring up, depending on context.

@Neil Keep in mind that it probably isn't some accurate science. At any given moment of time whoever Ymir recognised to be her master for whatever reason, could just tell her to never obey anyone other than their direct descendants (I also imagine that is the exact way the vow to renounce war was created - "Ymir you will impose my will on the rest of my family whenever they inherit my titan" or something like that). In the case that it is extremely scientifically accurate it could be that the royals today are the people who kept as much of the original genetic code as possible, through incest or just luck. So lets say the normal Eldians end up having 0.01 of Ymirs genes 2000 years later and the "royal family" has 0.1 of those genes.

Always remember people, this is a tv show. Cheering for Eren doesn't necessarily mean you're supporting genocide on a global scale in real life. Also, maybe we're watching vastly different reaction channels, but I've barely seen anyone who is "cheering" for Eren. The Normies, Semblance of Sanity, BOLDcast, Animaechan, StruckByBelz, Into the Void Anime, and not even RT TV were happy and content with Eren's plan to wipe out the rest of humanity. LM really aren't special in that regard.

That still doesn't explain how royal blood works now. If all subjects of ymir are descendants of maria, sina, and rose and you're saying their the original royal blood, all subjects of ymir would therefore be descendants of royal blood like zeke or historia. We know that's not the case, so there's something else to this. I suspect it had something to do with the spines, which seem like the original way to pass titan powers down, but I'm not sure.

I think the point of one side saying she made a pact with the devil and the other side saying she became a goddess is that nobody other than Ymir actually was there when she fell into the water in the tree. And even she probably isnt sure as it was pitch black and under water. Its like Eren Kruger said in S3, anybody can become a god or a devil, all it takes is for other people to believe it. She is both. because 2 sides believe two opposite things. There was no devil or god she came into contact with, what happened is exactly as we saw. Everything else is just the legend unfolding over 2000 years. Thats the way I interpret it at least.

If real world history is anything to go by, the average Eldian would get any benefits from conquest long after the nobility and the royals, given that this happened thousands of years ago. I mean, I'm sure most of them went along with it, but what was the alternative? They couldn't stand up to the royal family's power any more than anyone else could even if they did want to. The reason I'm curious about if this distinction makes sense is because we're talking about a godlike ability concentrated in a tiny number of people, not conquest by some army with greater skill and better weaponry.

I always viewed it this way - the 3 daughters get 3 titans each. Eventually they have a total of 9 children and each of those gets a titan. Whoever got the Founding Titan "started" the bloodline that we know now as royal blood. It's not that they were more Ymir's descendant than the rest but they were the one to rule since Founding titan controls all essentially.

The way I see it: Eren idea is to value the freedom the most. This is way he freed Ymir from the 'curse' of being a slave. It is what I like about him howover his decision what to do with the rumbling is a contradiction of compasion. He's more like the first Fritz king than any other character which makes me hate him. I don't see how his ideology holds up. To be honest Zeke or Frieda solutions are more acceptable to me.

The one thing that has me confused now is the origin of the royal blood. If all subjects of ymir are descendants of her children, all subjects of ymir should be of royal blood. The only thing I can think of is that the royal blood has nothing to do with ymirs children but rather Fritz' descendants with another woman. However, that would mean the royal blood eldians wouldn't be subjects of ymir, which we know is not the case. Perhaps the explanation is that descendats of ymirs children are the royal blood lineage, and the rest of the subjects of ymir are simply people who consumed the spines of ymir's daughters and their descendants, and from that point on passed the power down to their children as they were born. I suppose that makes sense, because the tree doesn't grow the 3 branches until ymir's daughters consume her body. If anyone is better able to explain that(without manga spoilers) I would appreciate it

Now there's an interesting distinction. It's certainly possible. In my mind, however, I don't see a nation of people rejecting the nobles that are giving them the entire world on a platter. We would have heard more about those grumblings by now, I think. Though it must have happened to some extent, because Karl Fritz was joined by supporters when he left to found Paradis. They must have also agreed that Eldian rule was apalling.

@Gabriel Tavares yeah, i hope so. the thing is that if it's released as a movie idk how much time it would take since the release to the movie being availabe online. i's still waiting for the jjk movie since it wasn't released on theatres here. anway we still need to wait until march to have news but i'd say that it will take them another year to release the 3rd part/movie 💀

I mean c'mon guys. These shows have almost nothing to offer them. They've never shown interest in animation quality, other than their comments about Arcane which has a completely different style. I don't think flashy fights with subpar story will impress them. They'd like the kind heartedness of the characters I guess.

Yeah, I've seen channels like that. I think they're not critically considering the timeline of events. 100 years ago, Marley was basically nothing and Eldians ruled the world. Not to mention that the rest of the world also exists and can attest to what happened. At least this clears the airbeyond a shadow of a doubt

It's weird to me that other watchers doubted the Eldian history so much. The history of their atrocities was only lost to Paradis for 100 years. The rest of the world wouldn't hate the Eldians EVEN MORE than Marley does if they weren't continually witnessing their empire. I thought that part would have been made clear during the Declaration of War episode. I did love the confirmation of Ymir's great works of cultivation though

I have confidence this is gonna be on the post discussion, but just in case: Ymir was not Eldian, Eldians capture her and made her (and the rest in the village) part of Eldia, this is why they are called Subjets of Ymir. "My daughters, reproduce, bear childrens, pass the blood, Ymir power must not die". So they did, they reproduce, they had childens for 2.000 years, this is why Subjets of Ymir can transform into titans. Ymir only had one decision in her life, the time and place to die, 13 years after adquiring the power of the titans, that's why the king said: Stand up, you can't die from a spear. Her will to live was below zero. The 3 walls were named after her daughters, Rose, Maria and Sina. After her daughters ate her corpse, you can see the coordinate expand to 3 branches. After that you can see the tree having more and more branches, this is a representation of the Subjects of Ymir reproducing and having more children. The ending of S2 had all this episode, the rumbling, the cannibalism, Ymir talking to the Titans. And this episode reached #1 with a perfect 10/10 on IMDB in less than 10 hours. PD: I need the OST from this episode, is absolutely amazing.

You literally cannot be on Eren’s side if this happens because he will have done something worse than Stalin, Hitler, Mao and Genghis khan combined if he actually goes through with this no matter what happens killing this many people automatically makes him horrible. Eren is my fav character but honestly this plan will result in some many innocent people dying that I can’t see how this is possibly worth it. I’m for Zeke’s plan over this. A small rumbling to give paradis time would be preferable to killing everyone. This will be genocide on a scale unimaginable.

I really liked the back story of Ymir, and another thing I liked was that they showed that Ymir was part of building up eldia's roads, bridges, and the civilization as a whole but also part of mass genocide of Marley so both halves of the story is true but of course people only focused on what propels their propaganda further.
