I'd heard about the rumors of a 3-movie series being produced by MGM in conjunction with Amazon (which is currently in the process of buying MGM), but the latest I saw last week was that Alcon may be working out a deal for Netflix to pick up The Expanse for additional seasons - there's even talk of Amazon bringing back the series to prevent Netflix from grabbing it! I truly hope that at least one of these rumors are true...we shall see.

This is incorrect. It affects everything and everyone the same. Also, perfect double drop. Episodes 9 and 10 were aired at the same time! make sure to do this as well for episodes 4 and 5 from season 2! You will understand why.

There's some short comics (titled The Expanse: Origins) that provide some non-spoilery backstory for Miller, Holden, Naomi, Amos, and Alex. They don't go way back like you're asking for, but they do give you a little bit of insight into the way they behave and why and how they all ended up on the Canterbury. It doesn't give away answers to any of the really mysterious questions you might have about them.
