I think Jean saying that Eren is doing it because of the attack is just to say that none of this would be happening if they hadn’t attacked. Just in a literal sense. It’s the inciting incident of the show and kicks start the story, so not a justification but just a point of fact.

2022-03-08 14:59:11 +0000 UTCIn my opinion, Chapter 123 would be better for the beginning of Part 3, because it is told from the point of view of a certain person who plays a bigger role in Part 3. That way you would have a better overall package. Also, I always saw Chapter 130 and Chapter 131 (at least the first 70% of it) as one chapter.

2022-03-08 05:27:15 +0000 UTCYou also have to keep in mind that we're talking about Attack on Titan chapters here. Chapter 123 or Chapter 131 is not adapted in Part 2. So there are 9.5 chapters left, which is really a lot. The movie would therefore last 2 to 3 hours with a roller coaster of emotions and plot twists. I would rather have a season with about 8 episodes. In addition, I would really like to have original anime scenes, since Isayama has really speeded up, so he can make the finale at Chapter 139 (13 years, 9 Titans). More dialogue and small changes is what I would really like to see.

So yeah, we'll have to wait for the movie to come out. Hope you guys cut the movie into 2 part reactions so we can see more of it. Or I guess we can watch the full reaction too.

Jean is one of the best written characters for all manga readers, no matter which side they are on at the end of the story. The fact that this dialogue was cut so that Annie's question about forgiveness seems strange is really disappointing. But this chapter was also one of the most dialogue-heavy. I mean, there's not a single 10 seconds in this episode where nothing is said. Even the opening had to go. I suspect Mappa had a lot of trouble getting everything in. In my opinion, they should have just cut the ending as well.

2022-03-07 23:05:14 +0000 UTCI'm kinda furious that they removed Jean's "I can't... forgive you" line right after he said "I'm not apologizing to you" to Reiner. He had a struggle on Jean's face when he said that in the manga. Because personally, it subtly implied that deep down he WANTS to forgive Reiner, because they were great friends and brothers-in-arms once, you know. But it's really difficult now, especially after hearing what happened to Marco. Removing that line also made Annie's "And me..?" line nonsensical. Because in a joking way she was asking that if Jean can forgive her instead.

2022-03-07 22:48:57 +0000 UTCI liked the content of this episode very much. It was very much about "We must overcome the past and leave the forest", as in the chapter. I also liked that the scouts don't just get on the same page as Marley from one moment to the next. For example, the scouts are not ready to kill Eren. They just want to stop him. They also don't forgive Marley for the past, as was shown with Jean. There is still a lot to be talked about together to build mutual understanding. I would still like to see a scene between Annie and Levi. Her actions against the scouts and his squad should be addressed. Of course, they could have also talked about what will happen to the Eldians on Paradise once they've stopped the Rumbling. Assurances from Magath and the warriors that they will try to stop attacks on Paradise Island would have been nice. But that could also be incorporated in a future episode. After all, we only saw Magath open up to the Eldians in this episode when Gabi threw herself between Jean and Reiner. But I have to criticise one thing: Mappa saved quite a lot of money in this episode. The animations were mostly static and they put in so many "look, we're in the forest" scenes it was ridiculous. I was so confused by it after the episode that I looked it up again in the chapter. These are really all anime originals. In the manga this metaphor was quite subtle, in the anime it's really forced on you. As a result, a lot of nice moments in the manga have also been left out. For example, we don't see the flying boat (memory) when Hange talks about it. There is not that focus zoom on Yelena, which would have created some tension. There was not the eye contact between Falco and Jean when Yelena reminds them both that he almost killed him. There is no scene of Jean remembering Marco's corpse. And there is a lack of many emotional facial expressions when Reiner tells of Marco and his last words. And one scene is still missing: Annie looking after Reiner and comforting him. It's such a nice parallel to the scene where she stepped on Reiner's head in anger when he refused to go back to Marley. Here are the cut scenes: https://imgur.com/a/7dGjxJN .
