The show is praised for its realism due to its depiction of what a 24th century Solar system wide Human civilization would be like. The protomolecule tech is presented the way it is because its creators/senders are perhaps millions if not billions of years more advanced and so the best way to depict that is as something so advanced, it seems like magic since even the human civilization is depicted as being far more advanced than us.

I have read the books, knew what to expect and yet this one episode had me on the edge of my seat, holding my breath it was so beautiful (when it first came out!) I have never seen anything quite like this on TV before. Such a beautiful episode and so full of twists and turns. Even the scene with Chrisjen and Arjun was so lovely. As expected, we didn't hear a word once the bird appears. Somehow that bird is a link between Miller (Josh!) and Julie, how, I am not sure we will ever know...
