Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Episode 5 Reaction

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Episode 5 Reaction

Comments

Found it by scrolling through all the full episodes, but search can't find it. Weird.

Einherj

Can't find the full version of this reaction. Is it gone?

Einherj

“It’s not gonna get worse than this” Honey…. You got a big storm coming

Mariama Jawara

I don't think he is being pragmatic. It's more like in his mind, anyone that accepts to be a state alchemist is selling themselves to the regime that was responsible to exterminate his people. "State alchemists are dogs of the military"

Raziel_BBT

This show has so many good characters. I am glad you are enjoying it so much! It's truly one of the best anime to me. This show can make you go from crying to laughing to crying again in a matter of seconds. A real roller coaster of emotions and I love it!

Mord

So like even if Ed is an innocent teen i get now that Scar was being more pragmatic than i first thought. Wow.

Kyan

OHH. I also thought it was strange that Scar was hunting down Ed even though he wasn't part of the genocide of Ishval, i just realized he's hunting "STATE alchemists" specifically so they can't be used as tools of genocide anymore. I'm slow.

Kyan

This. I don't blame them tho for jumping to baseless conclusions tho, they're playing into the same perspective as an Amestrian would, kinda meta.

Kyan

This is just a good example of how the world works, when it comes to perspective based on available, "*non-censored", force-fed information.

Michal Kubán

i think the story is more ww2 but the visuals are more ww1

Hannah N

more WW2 imho

Shain Sellah

@Rinne - any good writer will also do additional research about things they lack knowledge in, to add depth.

ODIS

The whole world setting has overtures at the edge of WWI, a big influence on the show

Arshan

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but the Ishvalan's (shown in the war flashback) were not religious extremists. Roy just noted their beliefs because it was something they would not give up even after being annexed by Amestris (the country under Bradley and where everything is taking place thus far). Then the thing with the child getting shot happened and that's when they revolted and then it was shown that the red of Ishval was spreading. I think you may have confused that visual as meaning they were spreading the religion but that was simply to show that the revolution against Amestris was spreading. That is when the order to exterminate Ishval and all Ishavalan people came down. So it was never a matter of them trying to spread religion but rather them trying to maintain their beliefs after getting annexed and then the revolution spreading. Also Leto, the god the priest from episode 3 evoked is not the same god Ishvalan's believe in

Love this show and your reactions! Such a wonderful bond between Ed and Al. Al has the cutest voice and such care for his brother.

Ken Drummer

Can't believe it took me this long to become a Patron as I've spent the last few months watching your reactions. Seeing you've started FMA:B pushed me to finally make the plunge. So happy to support and I look forward to every one of your reactions!

Hollow

also papa Edward for going to buy those cigarettes. Just for the character development

Raziel_BBT

An episode that shows you that the dub is the right choice!

Riff Michaels

Can I just say this real quick we gotta thank and appreciate mama Edward for creating these two boys and for raising them to be such great kids.

Jay

it fits too well to not be true

Raziel_BBT

I am SO ready for this reaction series! FMA is one of the best stories I've ever read/watched. You already know this, but you're in for a treat. <3

Alyssa

One cool thing to me about you guys watching the dub of this, is that a lot of the voice actors are also in the dubs for AoT and a lot of other anime I've watched. So even though you didn't react to AoT and others in dub, i still feel like Im getting a reaction to some of my favourite VAs performances.

VProductions

this is one of my fav episodes just for how it captures the core of the show. that even after a series of traumatic events the brothers are able to find resolve and hope again through each other and the people around them

Sebastian

Haha, not really. Also I'm pretty sure the mangaka doesn't have knowledge on this subject.

Rinne

It's canon in our hearts

Raziel_BBT

To clarify your question : Envy didn’t say Tucker had killed someone, he said « Tucker died. It was him » and by « him » he meant the ishvalan guy (killed Tucker)

Luna lanes

This show is so conforting. It has strong and sad topics but also a lot of funny scenes so it’s well balanced

Luna lanes

Roller coaster of a show my friends! Enjoy the high (while it lasts) lol!

CirithUngol

@BBT yeah, I saw that, tbh i don't even remember who it's in the sub, but i've always heard people say that he refered to nina and alexander, not sure if it's canon but i think it is

sand_fl

I just now noticed that when Armstrong is talking about the philosophy of alchemy, where you have to destroy and then recreate, he's also making an analogy to building muscle, as you need to "destroy" the current fibers so they can be recreated stronger

Raziel_BBT

I cry at so many moments in every rewatch of this show

Unholy

in the dub, they translate it to "two human souls" instead of just "two souls"

Raziel_BBT

So glad to be back on the 9€ tier. I just binged the reactions to the 4 first episodes. It's weird as hell seeing it in English ngl, but Alphonse voice is cute as fuck here too, so that's great. Did you know that Hange's VA frot aot voices Ed in the Original? And if i'm not mistaken Ryuk's VA voices a future character too. PS: i'm watching the intro and to clarify something, when that person said "god, i'm sending two souls to you" he meant nina and alexander's, not the father PSS: my bad, i've been looking and apparently i was wrong, Ryuk's VA doesn't voice any character here.
