New TV Show Poll

Ah and now I'm seeing this. I saw the poll as a non-patron but couldn't see the options, so I was like "There's no way Mr Robot is on there, and if it is there's no way it will win". Now it's not surprising because it's up against shows that are somehow just as, if not more underrated than it. Black Sails is great, I hope you get around to it eventually. But oh man am I glad Mr Robot is actually happening. Let me know if you struggle to find it anywhere, especially since I know you two like your subtitles

Vinland saga? Damn, its okay, just not something I super super care about. Was hoping for something like jujutsu kaisen, edgerunners (short and phenomenal), and I know you guys said you dont really care about MHA because of you dont like super hero stuff, but I dont either and MHA is still super fun. Man, I know theyd love Deku and Bakugou. I REALLY hope you guys give it a chance. You have my word youd love it. But honestly what I want the most is jujutsu Kaisen. It has so much heart and still reigns as my favorite shonen since its come out. Then edgerunners, mha, and more. Hope after vinland saga there can be a spot for any of these. In the end do what you want to do, but as someone whos been watching you since ATLA days. I genuinely know youll love any of those shows, from the bottom of my heart Love you guys :)

Ping Pong the Animation is one of the most complete and well written stories with unique hand drawn animation that mirrors the manga style and it's #77 on MAL. Samurai Champloo #119? The top shows on MAL are more popularity than a well written completed story, just look at Bleach at #3.

Mr. Robot still has a strong lead, but I'm glad Black Sails has pulled up into a tie with The Last Kingdom. Gives me hope for Black Sails getting chosen next time, since it beating Mr. Robot is fairly unlikely at this point.

It was just announced that the Last of Us HBO show will air on January 15th. I really hope you guys will react to it when it does. The videogame it is based on is my favorite story of all time. A beautiful & emotional rollercoaster.

The Characters and dialogue in the Dub are a lot better and more tasteful. I think they would genuinely prefer it much more. It’s more than a simple translation, it’s localized for western audiences while maintaining the good spirit of the original. The quality of the voice acting is up in par to FMAB’s as well in my opinion. But most importantly it does away with a lot of the unpalatable strangeness. So if they do end up watching Steins:Gate I would advocate for that.

Hunter x Hunter and Steins Gate are basically rites of passages for every anime reaction channel, and both are permanent entries in the top 10 rated animes on MAL. I hope you'll consider them soon

I dont know why people want HxH... Its legit 148 eps.. I would like them to actual watch something that's just as good but way shorter 🤷🏽‍♂️Plus HxH got some boring arcs imo. Would prefer a lot more shorter interesting anime that would always have their attention with each and every ep.

To be honest I dropped off mr robot after season 2. Just didn’t feel like it was going anywhere. However it’s been so long that I have basically no memory of what happened in it aside from a few random scenes.

Ah yes the unbearable roommate I do remember, maybe I just put those thoughts away. Then again its been a while since I watched it but indeed, the way you put it doesn’t make it sound that appealing. Personally I just really liked Okabe and maybe have the imagine of Steins Gate 0 in my head more. Perhaps Made in Abyss would be a good watch, the last season was really interesting to say the least.

Stein's Gate is really bad. The character Itaru Hashida is unbearable, as he treats all the female characters, who are ultimately just Misa Misa clones (at least if we're talking about character depth and portrayal) as a piece of meat with no character, which ultimately isn't even wrong in this anime. In the first ~20 episodes, every female character is ultimately just spotlighted, sexualized, their life situation changed and changed back because X. And of course everyone loves Light Yagami ehhh I mean Rintarou Okabe because.... Yes, because... Ugh I don't know. Because he only sexualizes the girls once in a while and not all the time like his roommate? It's just bad. And what really shocks me is the scene with the trans woman he has feelings for, but then he says, "Unfortunately, she's a boy. A boy! A BOY!" and just throws her away. I mean: Excuse me? Is that the way to talk? The plot here can really be no matter how good, if every character is simply unbearable, then the show is not worth watching.

HXH they said at one point, but because it’s so long. Personally I don’t want them to because it’s never going to be finished and it’s just 160+ episode investment in a show that won’t pay off in the end

Fair enough, that's your opinion and you can certainly pick that hill to die on. Those are huge claims to make, that Mr Robot S4 is as good as the final seasons of BB and BCS, and you are entitled to your opinion of course but I strongly disagree, no matter how vehemently you state your opinion as if its the objective truth. It's winning the poll so congratulations. And Mad Men wouldn't be my first pick but my point is if we are picking dramas for thoughtful discussion we might as well go with an all time great of TV like Mad Men that is also actually entertaining rather than just being depressing for the sake of appearing dark and intellectual. God forbid we actually have levity in a prestige drama and it isn't self-serious 100% of the time. Anyway, not looking to argue, the majority has spoken and I really hope LM have a good time with the show, better than I did for sure. Rami Malek knocks it out of the park at least.

Mr. Robot MIGHT (and it’s a HARD might) slightly drop in quality from S1 to S2. But it’s straight up ridiculous to claim that S3 or 4 are lower quality. S4 is by far one of the best seasons of TV to ever come out it easily rivals the final seasons of BCS and BB. I would also highly contest your claim that it isn’t a good reaction show. Imon Snow and BrandonLikesMovies have both reacted to it and absolutely adored it. Their reactions were fantastic and LM’s will be too. It’s one of the best written and most thought provoking shows in history and I’ll die on that hill. Mad Men is one of my all time favorites but it’s laughable that you say Mr. Robot isn’t a good reaction show and then suggest Mad Men.

Surprised Mr Robot is so far ahead, I feel the show starts off well but drops in quality quite a bit, and tries too hard to be surreal and intellectual. Its also not a good "reaction" show, and its a pretty miserable watch overall. Not sure why we're subjecting the girls to it. Where can we recommend shows for future polls? If we're going back to older series we might as well recommend true classics like The Wire and Mad Men. Also, Black Sails is actually phenomenal with a host of truly grey characters with unique motivations that takes a classic and expands it beautifully, with some epic reaction moments.

Haven’t rewatched Steins:gate yet but for a first watch it’s definitely worth it I think, to then after perhaps watch steins;gate 0 (which was pretty good). Code Geass is beyond amazing still which I think they’d very much enjoy probably more than Steins;Gate. But yeah Monster, Erased & VE are definitely good options as well. SpyxFamily is really enjoyable to watch but doesn’t strike me as much as Mob or Violet Evergarden do for example. Then again, just curious to see what they’ll go for haha.

Steins Gate has aged terribly in my opinion and my rewatch a few months ago not only knocked it out of my top 20, it actually landed in my Worst 20 of all time. Since they already had problems with Misa (understandably, in my opinion the problems with Misa are even worse), Steins Gate would not appeal to them. Code Geass has a similar problem of aged poorly, not nearly as bad as Steins Gate, but the plot is so damn similar to Attack on Titan that I would rather push a reaction to Code Geass 1-2 years after Attack on Titan. But we also have until January to figure out what they might look at after Mob Psycho. I'm still hoping for Spy x Family (25 episodes by January, half a year of content if they watch one episode a week, which will be really hard with Anya). Violet Evergarden, Haikyuu, Erased, Odd Taxi, Monster, Your Lie in April, ... also come to mind.
