2022-11-07 04:53:32 +0000 UTCI get what people mean when they say 03 is 'darker', but I also kinda don't agree. Or at least, the way BH/the manga deals with its darker aspects makes those things have more impact in my opinion. In the 03 version, there were a lot of 'dark' things in it that felt (to me) less like they were in service to the story or characters or themes, and more about trying to get a reaction out of the audience. A lot of these moments ended up feeling a lot less meaningful than the 'darker' elements in BH/the manga as a result. Like, I think the way this final episode brings up Nina is an excellent showcase of how meaningful what happened to her is. This isn't the first time it's been brought up either: far from it. Since episode four it has been a consistent thing Ed and Al have thought and talked about, something that continues to haunt them. Whether in dreams, or when Ed was in Gluttony's stomach, and many other moments. Even though Nina was only in one episode, her loss is something that is felt consistently throughout the show, to both the audience and characters. I think that kind of thing is something that BH and the manga excells at when it comes to the 'darker' themes it covers. In my opinion, the 03 version doesn't do this sort of thing nearly as well, and it ends up effecting the lasting impact of these 'darker' story aspects. Again, that's just how I feel about it though. It's subjective which works better for you.

2022-11-07 00:01:40 +0000 UTCThroughly enjoyed watch ing thus again with y'all . 03 anime will always be tops for me, though I understand those who prefer brotherhood, it's definitely more hopeful in tone. 03 was actually supposed to get a 12 to 13 ep epluogue, but due to budget being pushed towards this new version it got a truncated xhoppt y 2 n 30 min mess, kinda ignore it in my head cannon tbh. Though the fma brotherhood film star of Milo's is pretty good.

There’s a short extra chapter that takes place post series that shows what Al decides to do with the leftover bits of armor, and it gives you all the Ed/Al/Winry feelings. There are a lot of great little extra things like that in the manga that make it even better.
