Vinland Saga 1x09 Reaction

i'm a bit late but i've been a bit busy and on my period so i felt like shit. good thing is i won't have to wait long for the next update. i actually read that book a couple years ago, feel free if you wanna talk about it, i love discussing books too. though it's been a while and i've read many books since then. now, this episode is not one of my favourites but tbh there's no "bad" episodes on this show, just episodes that stand out more than others. i love the whole thorfinn and thorkell interaction and again, askeladd being all intriguing. the new volume of the manga will be out in a couple weeks and i can't wait to keep reading.

To me, there are only two characters in this show who are true vikings. Not only fighting for wealth and honor, but also with the absolute conviction to die in battle. I'll let you guess who those two are. But ya, they don't care about anything except finding someone capable of taking them down, and for that reason, they go wherever they think they'll find the toughest battles. That isn't to say they're foolish, though. They don't want to be beat by cheap gimmicks or by being caught off guard, they want to face someone who can take them down at their best.

I am only responding to what they said in the discussion part that many people tell them they love Askeladd. So it's nothing they haven't heard already. I am simply adding a +1 to that sentiment. At the end of the day, of course they will form their own opinion about the character.

its probably because he is so simple and void of deception or bad intent. while his actions dont differ, his attitude towards battle can be almost shown as respectable and absolutely nuts so its hard to hate him.

I find Thorkell to be very refreshing after all the past episodes. It’s still violence and murder, but the way the show frames him is great. His actions are the same as everyone else, but I don’t get the feeling of “evil” from him. It’s amazing what a shift in perspective can do.
