I can't believe that! 😖 No BD Wong fans among the demographic of Mr Robot watchers I suppose... I'm just like.. hellooo it's BD Wong! The first meeting with Whiterose is iconic. But at the same time it's like "wtf is that BD Wong???"

Lola is the first reactor I’ve seen catch on to White Rose being the person in the post credit scene on the first viewing! Awesome!

Is there a link to the YouTube video for season 1 episode 9 of Mr robot cause I don’t see it

Severence is one of the best new shows out there!

While I agree there are variations, I think there's some issues with the way you're categorizing his symptoms that are misaligned with real life. For instance, PTSD is an integral part of DID, and to my knowledge anyone with the latter also has the former, so I don't know if it's fair to your point to consider them separately in this case. With autism, which is very nebulous when it comes to diagnosing an adult, for all we know his symptoms could be from his social anxiety (the only disorder Elliot states that he has IIRC) and extreme introversion. Like they say, everyone is on the spectrum, and there's tonnes of fictional characters who you could read as either having autism or not depending on the angle you view it at. And depression is an EXTREMELY common comorbid condition, so it's not that surprising. The truth is that as heavily studied as psychology tries to be, we really don't know anything about it and it's incredibly difficult to state anything for certain. I'd also strongly disagree that his mental conditions change for the plot's convenience, but this comment was meant to be pointing out a way of seeing mental illness that I disagree with rather than defending the show's writing, so we'll save that for another day haha

Severance will be so good

They've seen The Leftovers sadly. I would love to see Andor, Severance and Succession.

Kara

They watched leftovers and talked about it during discussions sometimes.

True, it would be so perfect for them. It remind me a lot of Mr. Robot the way it got under the radar of so many. Thankfully Mr. Robot got his chance more recently to explose a bit more, really wish it happens to The Leftovers who deserve it so much, even if it definitely not as accessible and enjoyable for as many people, but I have no worries about Lola & Milena to love the shit out of it.

Nezumis

I know this is out of place but I want to start my petition for 'The Leftovers'. It's one of the few shows that reach near the spectrum of awesomeness/perfection that is Mr. Robot and Breaking Bad. Please ~~React to **The Leftovers**~~

I'm happy you are reacting to this show. What Sam Esmail and Rami Malek pull off with this series is a brilliance that seriously rivals Vince Gilligan x Bryan Cranston. I'm excited to see the rest of your reaction to the series.

Elliot's issues are mostly just fantasy, I don't think it's worth trying to figure it out. Elliot displays symptoms of pretty much every mental illness known to man at various points throughout the show, and it shifts and changes in line with what the plot needs each episode. There are labels you can put on it, like DID, depression, social anxiety, autism, PTSD, etc. but all the symptoms overlap to create something very unique and not particularly realistic. Just enjoy the very good job they do of showing what's happening inside his head, and don't worry too much about trying to solve a medical mystery, because there isn't one.

Haven't watched the reaction yet but I don't know why we're jumping to conclusions about the portrayal of Elliot's disorder. He clearly has a lot more than DID which leads to why he sees Mr Robot the way he does, and I don't think it's harmful to portray it in an artistic way for storytelling purposes -- especially when the show never advertised itself as a depiction of it. Maybe I'm just saying that because the most prominent other example was the movie Split which was undeniably harmful so it makes Mr Robot look like a scientific journal by comparison LOL, but it is also a little ironic you are talking about how it could be harmful when there's been a couple potentially harmful misconceptions I've seen you two have about it. I would love to say what they are but honestly I'd rather your understanding evolves with the show, and I think if someone doesn't have much of an understanding of DID and watches the show they would be at the same point as you, so it's understandable. But I'd just say have some more faith in the show. It doesn't just use DID as a gimmick. It's a part of Elliot's character and the show's entire themes, and it will continue to explore it in different ways.

So not getting into anything that would spoil, what the show is portraying is something close to Dissociative Identity Disorder which yes used to be called multiple personality disorder. From what I’ve seen, about 1/3 of people with DID do have some sort of hallucinations of the other personalities, but i think it’s usually just audio hallucinations (hearing a voice) and not nearly as organized/consistent as the show portrays. The show probably exaggerates the the visual part for audience understanding, but it’s not totally unheard of. I’m in medicine but not a psychologist so certainly not an expert but generally I’ve seen both experts and some people with DID (or loved ones with it) think it’s a fairly good representation of a very complex experience.

Okay, I’m all for your make schedule, break a schedule way of life cuz, same. But is there a “maybe around this day”, set out for Band of Brothers?
