Better Call Saul 6x08 Reaction

we filmed this episode in 3 places for over 4 hours... i don't wanna talk about it

we just all have to accept that we're losing the best show ever made in 5 more episodes

Better Call Saul 6x08 Reaction

And Gus stashed that gun there very deliberately in episode 5 of this season. So it wasn't an ex machina, if that's what you were thinking, it was a classic Chekhov's gun.

Normally im on top of this kind of thing. I think it’s because there was a break and I second guessed what the writers where doing with Jimmy’s character now we’re in the home stretch. I don’t think I would have jumped to that conclusion in say season2.

Patrick

It took me way too long to realize what Jimmy was doing, I think I didn't realize it until I saw her driving on the road and thought "well, she could just drive away and escape now. Oooohhhhh..."

Christophe Schannes

Weirdly I took me about 20 seconds to realise that Jimmy wanted Kim to escape. I thought he was throwing her under the bus for a second. So I felt dumb. I’m glad that Lalo’s story is wrapped now, he was a good antagonist and danger but since this is the end the focus should be on Jimmy and whatever happens post BB.

Patrick

I think BCS has better writing and filmed in a technically better way (as you would expect as it's the same team just with more experience) But I still think Breaking Bad is an overall better show, ultimately just because of the scale and intensity of having characters climbing to absurdly high levels of the drug/cartel business. BB is my all time favourite show, Better Call Saul would be like my 5th (which is still super high, cause I watch allllllllllot of shows)

Trent_88

I actually think Patrick Fabian was the best out of all the supporting actors this season, especially for that last episode he did. Tony Dalton’s best as Lalo was how terrifying he was at the end of last season IMO

Sarah S

It is better than Breaking Bad for me.

They are. And for myself, as someone who watched BB as it aired from Season 2 onwards, has seen the series multiple times, and adores every single frame of the show, BCS is the tiniest bit better, or at the very least it's too close to call. You're only doing yourself a favour by watching it, but just be prepared for something different from what BB was. BCS is its own kettle of fish.

Lalo was so close...sorry buddy Gus has that plot armor literally lol You can tell the moment Jimmy realizes he has to get Kim out of there when Lalo says he and Kim will wait for Jimmy to get back. The whole angle with Mike and Howard gets sadder when you realize Mike definitely saw him pass by while working as a parking attendant. Another innocent person dies who wasn't in the game. Another dead body that will never show up and no true closure for the wife.

Hi I haven't seen BCS so I haven't watch their reactions. When they say (and I guess LM can answer themselves if theyre still reading comments) but when they say best show ever are y'all saying better than Breaking Bad too? Cuz I just haven't had the motivation to start BCS but I hold LM's opinions in pretty high regard so it might just be the push I need

Mahni Alizadeh

BCS is already my favorite by far. It's less about which is "objectively" better, but more just my personal preference. I love BB but I'm obsessed with BCS lol

Taya

The next five episodes will determine if I prefer this show to Breaking Bad, something I never would have guessed happening back when BCS was first announced.

Absolutely LOVED this episode. Instantly became one of my favorites. The cinematography and the soundtrack is just... chef's kiss. So fucking good. And I've seen people complain about Lalo's death saying it was underwhelming, but IMO it was done perfectly! And it's so surreal seeing Kim with a gun about to murder someone. In fact, it's so hard to believe this is even the same show as in seasons 1/2. It seemed so quaint and innocent back then. I can't believe we've gone from Jimmy's fake British accent, the talking sex toilet and Squat Cobbler to... THIS.

Taya

Thanks for cutting the episode together. I ended up watching it for the first time along with the full and barely noticed that your guys changed location haha Why did it happen like that? I really hate when I have to interrupt an episode. I want to sit and watch all of it or not start it at all.

Camzeee

At first I questioned why Mike wouldn't just tell Jimmy outright that Lalo is dead, before realising that he's already done so before, and that if he's telling Jimmy that Lalo's definitely gone for the second time it's almost certainly true this time around. Besides, I think Mike (as well as the audience) know that with how traumatised Jimmy has been, he'll never be fully convinced that Lalo is actually dead. Even if Jimmy were to personally see the corpse, he'd always be paranoid nonetheless. I saw some comments online questioning why Mike didn't just outright 'say' that Lalo is dead (outside of maintaing story continuity with Breaking Bad), so hoepfully that clarifies it for some. And, as always, I'm going to miss this show so so much. Two masterpieces of television back to back. We'll never, ever be this lucky again.

kind of a shame tony dalton and michael mando didnt get a supporting emmy nom for this season. like i love succession but nicholas braun over them? idk about that one

This is the episode Bob had his heart attack. The subreddit has some trivia from the BCS podcast. * Bob Odenkirk's heart attack took place during Lalo's scene in the apartment. They shot close and medium shots of Bob and Rhea on the sofa. When they were going to go to Tony Dalton's angle, the incident took place. So if you watch the episode, every shot where Saul and Kim are seen in the sofa but you don't see Lalo's face, that was pre heart attack. Open shots and when you see Lalo, that was after, and they matched perfectly. Once Kim gets up from the sofa it's all post incident. Which means the LAST line Bob Odenkirk would have delivered on camera had he not survived is a teary "You got to go", shot at the night of July 27, 2021. Everything not involving Saul Goodman was shot while Bob Odenkirk was recovering. * Tony Dalton kept quiet about witnessing Bob's heart attack to avoid spoilers. He was there as well and saw it all. He last shot as Lalo on that apartment in September. * Vince Gilligan was sure Bob Odenkirk had died and thought to himself "the show is over".

TheArk

I think he's referring to you not remembering Gus planted a gun down there in one of the previous episodes.

Dario

Yep, even paced out his steps from the electrical cord so he knew exactly how to get to the gun in dark

Dante

This episode makes the "It wasn't me" line in BrBa so much darker. Before I thought that Jimmy was just throwing Nacho under the bus but now if reads as Jimmy having a PTSD flashback to this night and just irrationally screaming out what he was trying to tell Lalo here.

Shadoe Price

This look like an AoT episode, everyone if fking dying.

Mati D.

Remember in an earlier episode Gus went down to hide the gun in the lab. He was ready for this moment!

BNJ

oh im just editing the episode so i didn't catch anything new yet, what did i miss?

LM Reactions

I feel like Lola misses stuff sometimes because she’s so busy trying to figure things out the whole time lol
