Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Episode 41 Reaction

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Episode 41 Reaction

She-ra is adorable! I would love to see their reaction to it.

Harfie

They've seen Avatar: The Last Airbender and Arcane so yeah I think they could be down for She-Ra.

Camzeee

Ed's concern was mostly for Kimblee's men. Mile's was planning to get rid of all of them. He even says that there's no way to know if his men are being manipulated.

april 🍏

Would you watch She-Ra? or do you only watch more eastern animations?

Leaf

ed getting impaled always shocks me when i see it, its such a drastic thing to do to your main character. im always a fan of letting characters get actual scars from fights and im so glad fma does it.

beans

I don’t mind if they watch Vinland but I wish they get to watch Rezero to see them suffer a bit, your lie in April or erased.

Rigo Rojo

they have to watch your lie in April, is only 20 episodes, its not a shonen, and have comedy, romance, great characters

Vicente de Paulo Guimaraes Priante

The stakes only get higher from here😁. PRESSURE

I really hope not with demon slayer, first point the girls don't give a damn about a good animation, second point the characters are damn boring, classic shonen characters, not to mention the story ... this anime is based on fighting, on powers of swordsmen and demons, I really don't think girls can like it, I'm 100% sure

Friend

i hope they choose demon slayer, i can possibly see them enjoying and appreciating the animation and characters.

I disagree. Killing Kimblee is a guarantee that at least one person (Kimblee) will die. Letting Kimblee live may have a high probability of more deaths, but is notably NOT a guarantee that more deaths will occur. I think what would be selfish would be to take it upon yourself to kill someone and deny the universe a chance at the reality where no one else had to die. As Dumbledore says, we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy. Killing Kimblee could've been easy. Ignoring Kimblee and letting him kill people is also easy. Allowing Kimblee to live while preventing future deaths by his hand is hard, but has a shot at the best possible result.

God I hope they don’t choose MHA or KNY

Rigo Rojo

In my opinion people don't owe the world to go against their values and moral code because it is for the greater good. Some people just don't refuse to have that kind of blood on their hands

not gonna lie, i've watched the show 3 times and i actually never thought that but yeah, you have a point there. i do totally understand ed not wanting to kill anyone, but yeah, him choosing to actively save kimbee's life could lead to some shit. the girls actually compared this to avatar and tbh i was one of those who thought aang choosing to spare ozin's life was... not the best choice. i never rooteed for him killing ozai and totally understood his point of view, but i also thought that letting him live, even without his bending, could have awful consequences since he was a very powerful person with many allies. the legend of korra kind of proved this point in season one with amon (spoilers for tlok in case someone hasn't watched it and is interested in watching it in the future) amon was yakone (sorry if that's not the name, it's what i remember) a bloodbender whose bending was taken by aang. he just took away his bending and let him free? and then he raised and abused two sons who turned out to be villains to due to their upbringing. not blaming aang of this, but all of this happened because of his choice. so yeah, i do get you point. as much as i love ed and al in this case i may have to agree with you.

I guess so. From next week I think it should run normally again. Maybe even then The Boys will continue.

I m lost, the episode of today is from Friday? and tomorrow will have 42?

I'm sorry, but it's not as simple as Ed being ready to sacrifice his own life if that's the cost of being merciful. Kimblee is not only a danger to him, he's a psychopatic mass murderer working for the group that has caused so much misery in the world, that they probably are in a league of their own. It's one thing to choose not to kill Kimblee in a fight and another thing to try to save his life. Kimblee loves murder and he will continue to do so. He spent so many years in prison, shackled in an empty cell and he barely seemed fazed by it. He's a beast and Miles knew better than to try to put a leash on him. Does Ed have the right to put Kimblee's future victims in danger, just so he can be comfortable with his own ideals? In my opinion, yes. But it's selfish, not selfless in this situation. Just because Kimblee didn't kill Miles and only made fog from snow, doesn't change the fact that Kimblee is alive because of Ed's reluctance.

What I really like about Edward and this scene is that him maturing through the show does not consist in him trading his ideals for more « realistic » ones or on the polar opposite trying to change the entire world and the people around him so that they could eventually adopt his views. His evolution seems really intimate in a way, it’s simply about him sticking to his ideal but accepting the consequences of said ideals. He never blames Kimblee for what happened to him, he fully accepts the fact that Kimblee has vastly different morals and won’t hesitate for a second to kill him. He just accepts it and does his best to stop him with the tools he allows himself to use without expecting that his mercy will be rewarded and/or that his enemies will eventually give him the same treatment. It’s a very mature way of conveying such a message and that’s why I love this sequence so much (on top of the stellar voice acting, the dub really is top notch)

I had looked at the manga only years after I watched FMAB, and that also rather superficially (dialogues that "looked" very similar I only roughly skimmed). But I know the pain with Attack on Titan. Waiting every month for the next chapter is and was a pain. And "Is" because I follow very closely Attack on Titan Usurper (Fan Rewrite) and after 11 months finally came Chapter 133 yesterday. But you have to keep in mind here that these are just fans who rewrite the last arc for free and just for fun and enjoyment. You can't expect a monthly release like a normal manga.

Robert H.

If Ed hadn't shown mercy and actually killed Kimblee, not only he would not have needed the chimeras' mercy in the first place, but he also wouldn't have had to use his own energy to close his wounds, at the cost of his lifespan. So showing mercy imo did have a net negative effect on his life in this episode, but that is okay, because the show is telling you that sometimes to hold true to your values you must be willing to accept some sacrifice (equivalent exchange)

Yeah, having to wait a month between chapter releases of the manga could be pretty torturous with the cliffhangers lol.

cosmotron

I noticed that in the manga the other day when I flipped through it completely: The chapter ends with Winry screaming for Ed. That would have been a very nasty cliffhanger in the anime.

With the whole conversation about the "golden hair and eyes" I just realised that Hohenheim, Ed and Al are actually the last people of Xerxes still alive...
