Milena, I like your genuine “Hi guys!” Enthusiasm. David Pastor is the designated survivor Minister while Nancy Gao is away traveling. The U.N. Secretary general is in charge of the Earth and Luna in 2360 AD. The United States has no authority at this time. The USA line of succession has no bearing at this time. You ladies are doing great job. Keep going!

You could tell that, after knocking Filip down so hard, Marco was going to soften and build him up again. But only in the context of his connection to his father, nothing to do with him being his own person. ‘I want you to be proud of me’ ‘I know’ Not the answer he was looking for.

The Naomi vacuum transfer is one of the most realistic portrayals of vacuum in popular media. A technician in 1967 survived 27s in vacuum following an equipment failure. The VFX show many of the swelling & effects of vacuum. Naomi exhales to avoid lungs bursting & injects emergency Oxygen. Your body swells a bit w/o pressure (similar to a balloon), but does a good job keeping the insides on the inside. She also gets serious radiation burns from direct sun exposure w/o an atmosphere.

The amount of gaslighting Marco does in this episode - of Filip, of Naomi - is sickening to watch.

I always thought it was a bold choice of the writers to have Naomi a) leave her son and b) be ok with that. Yes, she felt incredible guilt, and that's why she even went to look for him in this season. But she also realized that she had to walk away from an abusive relationship and that she had a right to have a life of her own. I don't really see that in most portrayals of mothers.

Gillian Rosheuvel

Apparently no one understood my "sacrifice in the name of motherhood" comment. It's not mine. SPOILER WARNING Naomi is the one who says this exact phrase in season 6 talking to Holden. She says that she could have chosen to sacrifice herself in the name of motherhood but she chose not to. That's all I meant with that phrase. And no I don't mean that she should have killed herself when she didn't find him. What I meant was that there was no time clock for her. She's a resourceful woman. She could have (for example) faked getting back to Marco, to get access to her son, and then devise another plan to leave with Filip. For example I believe that Naomi, as she is now, would have done exactly that. She would have stayed longer with Marco and tried to find an alternative plan to leave with Filip. However I realize that it is not realistic to expect a 19-20 year old girl in an abusive relationship to have the same resourcefullness and strength as the 30+ year old Naomi. Also when I said “flaw” I didn't mean it was a flaw because she was a weak character, or that she made a mistake, I meant the fact that she chose to save herself and leave behind her son, and the guilt that she felt for that were very interesting dark aspects, “flaws”, to anotherwise perfect, almost holy especially in the books, character. I just felt that the show during these episodes tried to take away that aspect of her character (the fact that it was a choice). Finally I don't understand how from my post you understood that i'm implying that in the Marco – Naomi situation, Naomi is on the wrong?? He is clearly a psycopath. Where did I mention otherwise?

I've always loved how nothing comes easy on this show.

Agree! The show can't get inside her head, but in the book, just being stuck with Marco again, knowing what he tricked her into doing and the guilt she carries, starts to also bring back the bad thoughts (Suicide, hopelessness, etc like she attempted before). She came to try to save her son and she thinks she's failed. So her only option is to save herself/try to save her new family, Holden and the Roci. She did what she thought was best to try to save her son, did not succeed, and now is going to try to save her family.

I love the "Ty and That Guy" podcast, so entertaining. It should also be noted that Cyn wasn't prepared for the sudden decompression, so (unlike Naomi) he hadn't exhaled to prevent his lungs from rupturing. #RIPCyn

Well, politically speaking, defunding public education they way we in the US have done (starting in the 1980's ) has landed us in the crazy mess we are in right now where half the country doesn't believe or understand science. But that is a whole other discussion!!

Enjoy the Chicken lol. Interesting talk about the line of succession, i never knew anything about it. While I agree that Education is far more important than Transportation, it makes sense for the order to be as it is. Transportation is basically logistics, moving food/fuel/etc on a interplanetary scale is not only a huge task, but insanely vital. Our world is just millions of boxes being moved everyday, with big consequences if our essential shipments get interfered. But yeah, fundamentally there is nothing without Education. A lot of countries (Especially north america) care so little about it they barely pay their teachers. Really sad actually :(

One of my favorite episodes of the expanse, bar none. I feel like there maybe isn’t a better episode of TV that demonstrates how hard patterns are to break. The pattern of abuse between Marco and Filip, and Marco and Cyn, is so deeply ingrained in them that deviating from it is more terrifying than staying in it. Then we have Naomi, who is maybe the strongest character in the show, who knows the impossibly high cost of breaking patterns and knows she has to do it anyways.

sorry, i respect your opinion, but as the daughter of a woman who was forced to separated from their elder children due to physical and mental abuse from her first husband i have to disagree with you. not to sound like a prick, but it is easy to talk about "the sacrifice in the name if motherhood" when you're not the person who is living that abuse. my mother has been abused by two different men and i have had very extensive conversations with her about this. it's simply not as easy as you think. i sadly have lived through some shit too and it really is not as simple as it may seem in tv.

I don't think Naomi is ever being presumptuous towards Filip, she can see that he's not the same as Marco, that's abundantly clear, and that most of what he's doing is an understandable but sort of childish desire to make his narcissistic father proud, something she knows is impossible for Filip because of the person Marco is. She knows that only the most psychopathic of people could not end up feeling guilt for killing millions of innocent people and she's completely right in telling him that. But also, come on, "sacrifice in the name of motherhood" why in the world would that be the standard that mothers are "supposed" to live up to? Oh, she "only" tried to find her son for a few months and when it became clear she could never find him, what was she supposed to do? Search until the rest of her life? Or actually go through with killing herself? Like Naomi said, what good would that have done? She loved and loves her son, but mothers are still people who deserve to live a life like other people do. Why should she sacrifice her whole life, either literally or figuratively in a vain search, because Marco stole and hid her son from her? That's just not fair to expect from anyone and why are we acting like Naomi was the bad guy in this situation? You know that Marco was the one who actually kidnapped their son in order to force her back to him, so wouldn't it also be a flaw to give into that? I really can't understand how anyone can have this perspective on Naomi. This storyline isn't "whitewashing" her character because her decision to leave Filip was never supposed to be understood as a flaw to begin with, in my opinion. Of course she feels guilty but to suggest that she actually did something wrong there is just awful.

Naomi injected hyper-oxygenated blood into her as she made the transfer to the other ship. That's the same thing Holden injected into Monica when they rescued her from the container. Ty Franks has discussed the science behind the "hard vacuum transfer" on the "Ty and That Guy." While it is a piece of fiction, it is possible. Difficult, but possible.

Great reaction girls. Yeah... that final thing with Naomi, really stretches the realm of plausibility, but maybe it could happen. Too bad no Amos and Clarissa in this one, but a good episode nonetheless. The next one is good, but it is really exhausting. Especially the one storyline that they focus on, while very realistic and powerful, it is really really exhausting. However in terms of Filip and Naomi and Marco, Filip is right in what he said to her, she has no idea who he is. For us it might not hit home, but Filip grew up with his dad for the last 15 years. Try to consider how that is like. A stranger coming to you saying that she is your mother, but you don't know her. You know your father. It is very presumptous of Naomi to talk to him like she knows who he is and what he must be going through. I always found this whole storyline very problematic. Also this story with Naomi, always felt like a bit of whitewashing of her character for me. I found it very interesting up to this point, that part of her character was this guilt that she chose tosave herself than sacrifice herself in the name of motherhood. It was a very interesting “flaw” in an otherwise seemingly “perfect” character. And I felt that in this episode they really tried to justify Naomi's actions as if she never had a choice and had to leave. But that's not true. It was her son we're talking about. And she tried searching for him a couple of months and then she felt like she can't do anything else. This episode makes it seem like that was a one way decision for her (as if she couldn't postpone her leaving for another 1-2 months, like pretending to come back and finding a better oportunity to leave WITH her son) and I never liked this. Further down the line they come back to this and address it a bit, which makes it a bit better, but right now in this episode, I didn't like it.

Amazing impression Lola, couldn't even tell who was shouting "HI GUYS" lol
