I don't like Joanna, or Tyrell, but I won't say I'm biased because I think I have a rightttt not to like the American Psycho types (even if they're Danish & Swedish variants respectively). Joanna doesn't need Tyrell's severance money as desperately as most people to qualify as desperate. That stroller she has (which you never see go up those tiny townhouse stairs because it's too fancy to be practical): top dollar. All her dresses, Tyrell's suits, her earrings she got probably in some twisted gross way: $100,000+. I touched 1 item in a LV shop in Hong Kong just to see 1 price tag. Just a silk shirt was over thousands of dollars, I grabbed my fellow poorass bf and practically ran out the store terrified we'd accidentally break something. Joanna so desp needs that money because she's still a capitalist pig even during this major hit against capitalism and she values her comfort over other people.

The government is only allowing people to receive $50 from banks due to the hack (someone has mentioned this already in the full reaction post). He needs money but he doesn't want to be involved in Joanna's whole cover-up of Tyrell's car. He's begrudgingly taking the money cause he really has no other choice if he wants to survive in the current state of things. Not sure what the FBI could do with Tyrell's car either but I suppose it warrants Joanna giving him hush money. If I had to guess, it'd probably conflict with Joanna getting Tyrell's severance pay sooner which she desperately needs as the bodyguard said their funds are running low.

2022-12-31 04:14:16 +0000 UTC@Stephen A. i totally agree. i actually kept watching because i knew there would be a lesbian relationship but god, i never imagined i'd watch a masterpiece just for my need of lesbian representation. season 1 is by far the worst, season 2 while not perfect is also pretty good, seasons 3, 4 and 5 are tv at it's peak, just amazing in every sense. i'm sad it's such an underrated show. i believe that all seasons except the first have a 100% in rotten tomatoes. i believe that many mr robot fans would actually enjoy it.

2022-12-31 02:37:40 +0000 UTC@sand_fl POI is a fantastic show indeed! Unfortunately the first season or two are a bit too generic/procedural compared to the masterpieces that are the latter seasons, so I imagine many people probably dropped the show before it fully found its footing.

2022-12-30 10:11:09 +0000 UTCLike I mentioned I feel with Tyrell, Elliot sometimes has these almost childish innocent moments that endear him so much to me. I think it's because of the contrast of him being this badass hacker who confronts people when he owns their information and feels powerful causing we as the audience to be accustomed to him having a plan and being able to let him take the wheel, but when it comes to psychological battles he seems so helpless. It's a small thing, but even just him hearing Ray's outlook on life and then asking us what we think about it in the past few episodes... It's an interesting moment to me where it sort of breaks down those walls of confidence in the protagonist and shows how reliant Elliot is on other people when it comes to inner issues.

2022-12-30 00:04:09 +0000 UTC@sand_fl I promise you even those of us that are tech savvy and familiar with a good portion of the technology and terminology they are using in the show on first view had VERY little clue as to exactly how everything was going to unfold but because the show is so well written, acted, directed, etc those that stuck through it to the end really enjoy all of it. 😊

This season is such a gem for all the confusion it creates lol

2022-12-29 18:47:08 +0000 UTCi have never felt so seen in my life or related to reactors than with you two watching this show. we're on the same fucking boat because i have no idea of what's happening either and feel completely stupid while watching. at least you two are smarter than me because i'm not sure if i would have thought about elliot being held in a mental institution or prison on my own but since you mentioned it i have been thinking about it and now it would make sense (though i seem to be changing my mind constantly) but i agree that there seems to be plot holes. but i guess it it ends up being true they will solve those for us. though i'm more inclined towards him being on prison. maybe krista is visiting him once or twice a week and he's just imagining her office idk. other reason i feel so seen is because milena's face just light up like a christmas tree whenever dominique/dom/whatever she prefers to be called is on screen. like, that's me watching anything with lesbian/bisexual women characters that i know they'll get together or at least will have some kind of romantic relationship at one time. anytime they're on screen i'm like "now kiss". also, the way lola started singing the winner takes it all one second after i did the same when someone said 'winner takes all'. actually made me laugh. now, if he's on prison or in a mental institution i can't think of how this doug judy (sorry, can't remember his name) comes to play. like, is he a guard/doctor or something? it just doesn't make sense and every time he's on screen my head hurts because i can't figure him out. i feel slightly better about angela this episode, she seems to be more in control but i'm afraid of where the character is going. lastly thought i probably forgot many things, the chess scene on the park reminded me to this scene of one of my favourite shows ever. this is actually from one of the best episodes in tv i've ever watched 'if-then-else' and definitely in my top 10 of episodes ever. for context he invented an AI who everyone calls 'the machine' and this is a scene of the early days where he's trying to teach her about human value. the scene and the one in mr robot are nothing alike but at the same time reminded me a lot to it and i loved it. https://youtu.be/iz5EFsSbQ7U

All those chess matches Elliot and Mr. Robot had were EXACT recreations Rami and Christian had to memorize of popular professional chess matches that ended in stalemates (ties). 🤓 I'm also a little surprised Lola who seems to know every song as it pops up didn't recognize the slowed down piano rendition of Green Day's Basket Case for the Elliot lulaby dream sequence. 😚
