I love u girls. U re the best reactors of all time

vinny cucinello

Perfect said.

vinny cucinello

The only two reactors that completely understood the show. You touched all core important aspects of of it. When Lola said: "Vinland is an idea and not a place", she cleared life. She gets it. The fact that reactors really believe that Vinland is a real place where there is no war and slavery is, concerning but im used to it. Such place doesn't exist because its suppose to symbolize Heaven. Heaven for the Christians, i mean, An idea place, a perfect place. If the place Leif named Vinland really exists on the show i dont know but the idea of a land with no war and only peace is symbolic, its not suppose to be exclusive to this geographical mapped place they are calling Vinalnd, You can call a land VInland and expect it to be heaven but if people dont work for it to be a nice peacefull place then its just a dream. and if people really do can work towards this goal, then it doesn't mean to be where Vinland is, they could built their parides anywhere. it could be anywhere, so long as people work to archive it. For Artorios its Avalon, For Thors its Vineland, and its could be anywhere else for me or you.

Izaya

That show is way to controversial, no way that gets voted.

KP

I think Lola would be interested enough to watch it, even if she didn’t like parts of it.

Nathan Elkin

There were way too many "controversial" scenes in that show. I really don't think they'd like it.

PoorHector

Oh god not this lol

SupremeCai

Mushoku Tensei is a masterpiece and it is beautiful and not only visually. But i think they wouldn't be able to tolerate the early episodes.

AndrewMV

I guess it's settled. Milena's my favorite.

I probably should get some compliments from other people for this suggestion because part of me really doesn’t want to do so, Jobless Reincarnation? Personally, I think it’s really similar to this show in that it has a uniquely mature perspective of showing childhood and watching someone grow up. Anyone who has seen it knows it’s vastly different from other anime seen by these two simply for how provocative/shameless it can be, but it’s also hard to deny how much it lends its self to the narrative. The main struggle is the simple premise, mid-aged guy is reborn with all his previous habits and faults, but it slowly and cunningly develops a well earned premise of growing up and changing oneself when taken seriously. And with it mostly being a child on screen (though some scenes not so much) it’s easier to watch from a child’s perspective. Shoot me down or agree, but I just watched the entire show yesterday (for the first time), looking forward to the new season, and it really reminded me of Vinland. Not so much the characters or tone, but it has a lot about youth and capable children that are more or less believably talented through hard work. With a dope power dynamic and beautiful animations. Plus the “intros”…

Nathan Elkin

Great to add that as context.

Melkor

Exactly. Hope they see this it was one thing they misinterpreted that’s kinda important.

Melkor

Hey, just want to point out that this "general Artorius" is obviously a reference to the legendary King Arthur and Avalon is an island from Arthurian Tales and Celtic Myths. So this is not just some random story that mother told Askellad and author of the manga just made up, but a myth that was then well known among Celtic/Wales people. I thought it was worth mentioning since the author probably works with the assumption that the reader would know that "Artorius" is this well known mythical and not real figure and Askellad probably only believed this myth when he was a child but when he grew up he recognized it as a fairy tale, but still wanted for this legendary leader to appear etc. I think, understanding this, gives more meaning to what is going to happen later in the show

Revivizi

I think Milena makes good points though which I definitely agree.

menofhorror

You keep saying mother's village because you assume the general Askaladd met on the beach was from a village, but the general was there representing all of Wales, which is what Askaladd is focused on. It's not his mother's village, it's mother's homeland.

Nathan Elkin

Askeladd gives me Walter vibes. His relationship with Thorfinn has that same feel with Walt/Jesse. Both did bad things and manipulated their "sons" and yet u can always find some humanity behind their actions. In Askeladd's case, he was forged by the world he was born into. He hated everything about it but he was good at using it to survive. Thats why I find it hard to hate him despite all the cruel shit hes done. Hes very self aware of his actions and takes no pleasure in the traditions of vikings or murders. His attachment to his mother's words gives him the sort of "human" touch I needed from him to see that he isnt completely evil. He definitely isnt a good person. Theres no coming back from that and neither does he want to be good. Hes no saint but for me, these kind of characters are the ones I enjoy watching more than Thors or even Thorfinn.

Danny

I think this was the best review of a vinland episode till date. Really loved back and forth between the girls about how askeladd makes them feel. Also, You know girls, when this anime was airing, the next episode got postponed due to sports a tournament in japan. so we had to wait for 2 weeks for the next episode. Such hype and then you have to wait for almost 15 days for next one.

※A new issue of a Japanese comic book has an obi(comic strips) sash above the cover, on which a brief introduction is written.

yamada

oh, thanks for the clarification. yeah that would suck. spoilers don't really bother me that much tbh but if you do it must sucks to see a spoiler in a fucking cover.

sand_fl

A few months after the magazine's publication, the comic would be sold, but the front of the comic contained a spoiler, so fans who had only bought the comic knew critical information about Asherad the moment they saw the cover first.

yamada

i don't think i understood what you meant. a spoiler about askeladd was on a book unrelated to vinland saga? or a magazine? i know the monthly chapters of mangas are published in magazines, is that what you mean?

sand_fl

There is an anecdote that a spoiler about him was written on the obi of a book published in Japan, which angered comics buyers who had not read the magazine.I am also a victim of this.

yamada

I agree with the way you described Thors at the end. The way he functions in this show reminds me so much of Eddard Stark

dk

that shot of askeladd on the intro you say he looks wierd is actually the cover of the 8th volume (the 4th in the english version) of the manga. its a drawing took straight out of the manga, that's why he looks different here's the pic in case you're curious. no spoilers of course. https://www.manga-news.com/public/images/vols/Vinland_8-kurokawa.jpg

sand_fl

It’s very entertaining tho.

Melkor

I agree with Lola this entire episode. 😂 Sry Milena.

Melkor

Every discussion just a podcast about current feelings towards Askeladd lol

Mekar

you two should really watch code geass

Thomas Huenefeld
