Band of Brothers Episode 6 Reaction

Band of Brothers Episode 6 Reaction

Comments

If you change your mind: "The Pacific" (2010) (10 episodes) is a companion piece to Band of Brothers. The same executive producers Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg.

Clay F

The nurse kept helping even after dead

Agitprop

7 is a tough one too, but we all know the worst one

JATLA

this is the hardest episode to watch IMO. something about watching this medic run from disaster to disaster in this horrible environment with barely any release hurts so bad. The next couple eps are rough but if its any consolation, the war ends and so does the show and it's extremely cathartic and beuatiful, even moreso knowing what these people went through. Definitely worth finishing if you can bring yourself to, just need to remind yourselves that the war does end and all those old men speaking at the beginning are characters that survived and lived another 60 years at least

Kara

That's a shame. White Lotus like Rynsen mentioned has a lot of the same energy and production value, also a HBO show

Kara

I loved the show when it came out but I don't think it's aged very well, especially compared to other stuff they've watched like The Expanse. The Joss Whedon allegations make some scenes harder to watch now imo too

Kara

I get not wanting to continue this show because its tough. But its important to know because this did happen and these are real people. Many of these people will not be forgotten because of this show and IMO thats one of the most important aspects of shows like this. I would urge you two to continue the show because the last episode is way too rewarding to finish to pass up. I can guarantee the show is more than worth seeing through to the end.

CoFro

Does anyone know if they watched Firefly? Slim chance, I know, but that show seems tailor made for them.

Orr Malus

Fuuuuuuuuck that sucks

blitzman08

I feel like they would like The White Lotus. Lots of psychological stuff to discuss.

Josh B

I believe Lola said before that she has seen it and she was trying to get Milena to watch it, so it's too late for a reaction. It's a shame, because I would have loved to see that too.

Rynsen

Have you guys ever heard of Succession? I feel like that's the perfect show for you guys to react to

blitzman08

i'm only rewatching because its lola and milena. I think i watched 3 times so far - once on my own the first time, 2nd with a reaction channel 3 years ago and this is the third.... it's honestly still a lot even tho its been years lol

Kara

i watched this episode 3 weeks ago and i still haven't got around watching the next episode. every time i watch one i need to take a big and long break after. it is a good show but i would't watch this again in my life.

sand_fl

It's all good babe... RIP all soilders of war.

Nathan S.

you should watch the last of us.It starts this sunday on hbo

maurizio piras

And let's not forget Renee: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren%C3%A9e_Lemaire ; She's known as the "Angel of Bastogne" for what she did for the Americans. Let's not hate on a series for portraying what she did just because it was sad. She was able to get 6 soldiers evacuated that Christmas eve before the bombing killed her while she was evacuating a 7th, people like her should at least get a glass raised, or a little poured on the ground for the sisters who can't drink with us. To her, and her assistant who was able to live all the way until 2015!

Peter Hudson

I get it, The Pacific may be too intense (at least for you two anytime soon). This though is one of the best episodes in the history of TV, medics never get the credit they deserve except for from the men they work with it seems; Doc Roe is an amazing example of this selfless job in war, where all one does is save lives

Peter Hudson

Do you guys have any plans to react to The Last of Us on HBO? I think you guys would enjoy it

kingattolis

The pacific is everything wrong with this world.. but it's a 100/10 series!

Kj

And about The Pacific....I disagree with the comments that say it's "more gruesome" than Band of Brothers. It's no more gruesome than something like The Walking Dead. BUT...if you're having trouble with his, you won't like The Pacific. It's far more of an exhausting experience because the Pacific campaign was fundamentally different than Europe and the Japanese were a different enemy simply due to how they fought. There's more emphasis on the psychological aspects of the war and its effects on the soldiers because of the environment and the length of the campaigns without a break. Based on that alone, you won't enjoy watching it, even though it has several episodes that allow you to "rest" between intense ones.

Caomhan84

If Milena and Lola had trouble with THIS episode, the next few are going to be worse. But this is an important show that I think everyone should see once.

Caomhan84

I completely agree and support this.

Melkor

The ending is truly beautiful you're almost there. Pacific is particularly gruesome I wouldn't suggest if this is too much.

Deandre Williams

Lmao I love it 🀣🀣🀣

Deandre Williams

I also must say that the rest of BoB isn't gonna get any easier, but I strongly believe that you should finish it even it can sometimes be painful. This pain you feel is an important part of the whole experience and Tom Hanks & Steven Spielberg knew exactly what they were doing and what messages they were trying to convey by making you feel that way. There is a very good reason this show is considered the greatest mini-series of all the time, and it's not just because of how well produced it is, but in order to fully grasp the genius of it you must see it through to the end.

Andrew

In regards to The Pacific, it's definitely not a show for you: incredibly gruesome, and if you think BoB is realistic you have no idea how realistic The Pacific is. It's well made and has some brilliant characters (Snafu played by Rami Malek is fans' favorite), but you shouldn't torture yourselves by watching it. Also, I second Ted Lasso. All-around brilliant feel-good show with strong messages and not nearly enough people have reacted to it on YT.

Andrew

Don't watch The Pacific. You'll hate it.

Matt Hartman

I would consider it a spoiler, but that's me

killezio3 killezio3

Milena in the pre-discussion for episode 1: "I feel like a decade for me preparing myself to watch this has been enough so like I know what I'm entering". Milena after this episode: "Honestly I've been regretting the fact that we started this show since the moment we did it" How times change lol

Dante

Band of Brothers is more like a documentary. There's no real plot or narrative, just hardcore dramatization based on true events. The Pacific is more like your typical tv show. I watched it when it came out and barely remember any of it.

Orr Malus

Yeah, don't watch Pacific, it's just grim and dark and horrible. I think when you've finished BoB you'll be glad you watched it because it's such a well made show and tells a great story that ultimately ends in a kinda happy place. But don't watch Pacific

tom

Maybe you guys need to react to something much less depressing next, like Ted Lasso or Peacemaker. If you two are at the point you don’t even want to finish the show, don’t torture yourselves and your mental health.

JFugly

I do feel like this episode is probably the second hardest of the show, and the next couple are a bit less horrifying.

RocktSurgeon

Here's a little pick-me-up clip from Norm McDonald on WW1 and WW2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIO0DesXpdo&ab_channel=thestandupchannel

Orr Malus

The Pacific is the same makers, same kind of story but in the Pacific theater of WWII. It's good, though I think pretty broadly considered not as good. And its maybe even more gruesome from what I remember. Honestly, It's good but I wouldn't even recommend watching it without specific interest and especially considering how much this has connected/drained you both.

RocktSurgeon

The nurse was a real Belgian nurse (Renee Lamaire) that volunteered and did work as a nurse in an aid station in Bastogne, though I don't think there's anything backing up that she met the medic from Easy. They include a few people/stories that are real but not actually related to Easy as a way to show a bit broader story. "She helped tend to over 150 seriously wounded patients per day without adequate rest or food, and offered great assistance. Lemaire was killed during the Christmas Eve bombardment when a bomb made a direct hit on the aid station. She was wrapped in a parachute and buried in Bastogne by the soldiers. According to Wikipedia, she managed to save six soldiers from the burning building but perished when she returned to try and save a seventh. "

RocktSurgeon

I know this series is tough to watch, and I get the regret in starting it because it can be draining. I can only say that I sincerely believe you will be very happy you watched the series when it is over. It has an impact that lasts a really long time.

BobJ

its basically ep 11

T0ast

Don't know how they are going to get through the next couple of episodes

Razzer95

What is the schedule this week if you dont mind sharing?

Slaizio

I have to be one of those "you outta watch this" people, but if I can make a recommendation.....I think you would really enjoy watching the documentary "We Stand Alone Together" after finishing BOB. It is done by the same group of producers and was released as a sibling to the series. It has all the real soldiers and interviews like in the show. It is terrific and I think you would really enjoy it.
