It is possible for someone to be a hero in their final moments after living a life of villainy. As a matter of fact I'd say that's one of the most beautiful kind of human beings. Their evil past is what makes their heroic sacrifice so much more meaningful. That's what makes Vinland so wonderful. It shows us the humanity of these evil men.

Thorfinn and Askeladd is such a complicated wierd relationship. Thorfinn has to live with himself with the things his done. Can’t wait for season 2. Love y’all reactions.

Askeladd's mother was waiting for the return of one of them who won the battle of Badon hill 5 centuries ago (Ambrosius Aurelianus). However, one of the other candidates was a man named Lucius Artorius Castus (which was Askeladd's real name). While in actual history he was born centuries before this show takes place, its a easter egg to show that Askeladd after losing faith in waiting for Artorius became Artorius himself.

2023-01-30 02:55:00 +0000 UTC@Isaac i thought so too, but i think milena said that now it was once a week so i got confused because i wasn't sure if she meant from now or from the moment they catch up. honestly i hope is the latter because i'm really exited for this arc of the manga and the faster they catch up the better. i should go to bed because i have to be up in less than 5 hours but rewatching this have me a headache from crying and my eyes sting... i need to be smarter and watch on the next day during the day but i was really hyped for this one.

2023-01-30 02:46:45 +0000 UTCi can't express how happy i am you're satisfied with askeladd's story. since he was your favourite character i was afraid you would lose some interest on the show. though to be completely honest knowing you from all the reactions i've watched i didn't think you would, but there was still a possibility i guess. i've rewatch that scene and askeladd's speech many times and i always tear up and end up crying. just amazingly executed and the voice actor did a wonderful job (again). many readers don't love the next part of the manga but i actually love it and i believe you will too. can't wait to see your reaction to the next episodes and both the intro and outro. btw, i've seen some people point out that his second name was artorious, after the lengend but no one points out that lucius means light/brightness. so yeah, he ended up being the 'hero' that saved wales from being invaded so in the eyes of thst people he was kind of like the light in the dark. i remember milena mentioning a bunch of episodes ago that she would like that askeladd died thinking wales was condemned even if it wasn't true. i imagine she doesn't feel the same anymore though. also (and lastly) i'm not sure if i understood right. from now on are you just going to react to it once a week or just keep it twice until you catch up?

Askeladd was easily the best character in season 1 and so well developed. Definitely one of the best characters out there among a lot of anime’s imo.

2023-01-30 00:35:41 +0000 UTC13:36 That’s the moment Askeladd went from calm to wanting to kill him on the spot kind of rage. lol Not often you see that kind of reaction from Askeladd. The king insulted Askeladd on a very deep level considering what his mom was and that Wales is his og home. Askeladd probably stopped caring after that just thinking “this king got to die”. 😝 Maybe not stopped caring but probably wanted to kill the king at nearly any cost and I assume this was before he realized only way to save both was for him to sacrifice himself.
