It seems harder than what we imagine it to be apparently xD...this intense parasocial urge to protect and coddle. I read a comment last episode that really irked me...I had to stop myself from creating a comment chain underneath it... because the act of me pointing it out... had the possibility of making it worse than it already was by bringing more attention to it...I banked on the thought that 'maybe they don't even read the comments this episode'... soo I was pretty distraught when i heard them talking about it literally at the beginning of this reaction. Looking back, they probably read it already when i got there.... and i think you noticed it as well.

2023-02-02 00:25:34 +0000 UTCwell, this one was at least not as confusing, we agree on that. tbh i don't have much to say about this one (not meaning it was a bad one). i can't be mad at darlene for cooperating with the fbi, she's scared as fuck and to be fair she wasn't trying to sell elliot but to protect him. but even if it wasn't like that i'd get it too. i've been thinking about that since season one. sometimes i think he was pushed and sometimes i think he jumped and the same goes to his dad being abusive or not. my mind changes depending on what happened on the episode. i can't get out of my mind the thought that price has something to do with angela. idk if it's romantic or other thing but now white rose is kinda using her to get under his skin by threatening her. idk what could it be but it's bugging me. is she somehow related to him or something? and well, i'm sad to see joanna go. was she a phsycho? yes, but she was extremely entretaining to see. i hope we get to keep tyrell just to jeep having some comedy in the show. but well, good for that baby, he'll probably grow up to be a better person that he would with those parents.

But although I do prefer Sam's method of storytelling, I think Vince edges out Sam by a very small margin. Only because I think Vince's characterizations in BB and BCS might be a bit tighter than Sam's.

2023-02-01 14:28:36 +0000 UTCI honestly do think Sam Esmail and Vince Gilligan are the two most trustworthy writers overall, not everything they do I agree with but like 99% of the time they're easily the best at their craft. In different ways too. Sam initially had the idea for Mr Robot as a movie, but the script for Act 1 was getting way too long, so he realized that he'd have to make it a tv show. It ballooned out from there, but the crux of the story and its entirety was always in his head. He had a plan from beginning to end. Vince by comparison is more of a master improviser, famously never really planning ahead and just going where it felt natural for the characters to go. Both really satisfying means of storytelling.

She's a very different person after last season, but somehow it feels like that's ultra emphasized as we see her from Elliot's perspective here. Confident, in the background, walking along with other E Corp higher ups. She feels like a powerful external force, very determined and immovable. It's weird to analyze something so minimal, but the choice to include that one shot rather than just not having her in the episode at all (As has been done before with character absences -- Dom in 3x1, Angela in 2x1, Darlene in 2x2 & 2x11) does a good job at reinforcing her presence in the world and that she's still doing things we don't necessarily know about

I'm so relieved this episode made you both feel a bit better about the show as a whole. I was worried for a second it would be hard to get the momentum/investment back after last ep, but I forgot how character-focused this episode was and I'm glad the trust is back :) The 'Undo' montage, besides 'Kernel Panic' is the best in the show in my opinion Yes, you thinking Elliot told Krista is intended. Like Elliot, we could've sworn she knew. I felt the same. It's a really unique example of the show's unreliable narrator tool being used to swirl together what is and isn't real without actually deceiving us by showing us something false. When it's airing an episode a week you have no choice but knowing that all the episodes are just sat there waiting would drive me round the bend. Christa's face reaction when Elliot brings up the window incident is great. On high levels of trust, yeah, has anybody mentioned this show was originally supposed to be a movie? There's a beginning, a middle and an end, and you're definitely in the middle. If you think these are good the standards jump up again in s4 - the fact Mr Robot only won 3 Emmys (and wasn't even nominated for much) through its run is _insane_.

However, that plotline is still a smart part of a much more complicated but coherent , realistic, and logical story/timeline. A story that wraps up perfectly by the end of season 4 explaining everything and answering all your questions. Made me rewatch the show knowing what i knew by the end, and it was obvious, the writers planned all four seasons from the start. It's brilliant!

I shouldn't be surprised and yet I always am. 2 eps into S3 and there's sooo much good stuff already, important stuff, frivolous fun stuff. Just a dense show at this point. Much like I felt the absence of Dom last episode I felt the absence of Angela here. I think that distance really puts you in the mind of Elliot. Krista's actress (Gloria Reuben) does a really great, understated performance. Since we've almost always seen her in a professional setting its easier to ignore but the way she genuinely tries to talk to Mr Robot is great, very believable. And then how scary Mr Robot can be, made even worse when you remember any of the scary stuff Mr Robot says or does, people see Elliot's body doing that. Terrifying!

2023-02-01 02:21:36 +0000 UTCI'm mixed on Joanna's death from a storytelling perspective, on the one hand I would've loved to see her reunite with Tyrell and continue to make plays like they did in season 1, which was one of the best dynamics. But it's also a super well-made scene and shows that even the best manipulators can misjudge their marks, esp when they wrong them. Could've done without the brain scene tho. Favorite scene of the ep is definitely WR/Price, I always love their scenes really. And it shows that WR's reasons for bringing Angela on certainly ain't altruistic.
