2023-02-05 21:28:55 +0000 UTCto build on that, any use of copyright materials is against US copyright law. however via precedent there is a defence of 'fair use' which allows among other things, a certain percentage of copyright material to be used in transformative pieces (things that transform the media to create a product which doesn't compete with the original product in the same market). So parody, analysis, reactions with commentary are all broadly considered fair use. Uploading a full episode's worth of footage is clearly not 'fair use' and if caught, you could have your Vimeo / Patreon shut down, maybe even your YouTube, and worst case you (or your company) could be sued directly by the copyright holder Many reaction patreons dont care about this because they think the likelihood of it happening is low and are willing to take on that risk. But IMO its a ridiculous risk - what if one day an anime copyright holders decided to start taking down vimeo content? uploaders would be screwed. imo it's not worth the risk of having your entire channel / business shut down but I'm not a reactor so 🤷

I guess because it would hurt their revenue. Which means they seemingly can do it without repercussions. The essence is that it's not allowed but people get away with it.

Yet, when watching the actual reactions, the audio isn't balanced between their TV and their voices. I'm sure they have their reasons. Was just curious. I've lived with it this long so...no problem. And I should have probably posted this on the actual reaction video but I always get caught up in commenting on the show. Meh, oh well. It's cool.

2023-02-05 14:32:06 +0000 UTCIt's fine to me. You shouldn't be listening to their audio directly on a full reaction imo. Better to use your own copy and have them at a good speaking volume to listen to their comments. Their TV sound is really just to help sync up.

They rarely run into copyright issues nowadays and always shown full video with no problem. Such a thing wud be a great boon to the channel because ppl wud def pay to see the full reaction and not needing to sync as it wud be easier and they can skip around if they want during it. i just dont know how they do it that most other reactors cant and need to put the timer.

I think the issue they've expressed though is being particular about what parts they keep in the reaction (though honestly it seems like they tend to keep in like 70% of the episode, and I notice a lot of the reaction-worthy moments have the video be transparent so I wonder what the rationale is behind that), plus for it to be worth it it would have to be for multiple series and then that's a big investment.

2023-02-05 02:59:09 +0000 UTCistg this show is funnier than some sitcoms i've watched. tyrell being obsessed with elliot reminds me of season if of killing eve somehow. the romantic music while tryell was preparing himself to see elliot... peak comedy. i hope they gave that man awards for his portrayal because damn, he's acting his ass off. that lalo guy (i guess the name suits him until they tell us his name) is really interesting and also funny. good combo. the way i was thinking that it would be better for his kids not to see him again only for his story to be fake lol had me fooled. and yeah, that was the actor from princess bride if i'm not mistaken. angela's whole demeanor is a mistery to me. and finally... living really close to a beach is actually overrated. you're not missing much.

That combined with how genuinely happy he gets and how hard he tries to look good for Elliot endeared me a lot to him. Honestly I just love that this episode is so damn straightforward and shows how much of season 2's confusing ness is because of Elliot. Seeing it all laid out from outside perspective makes me appreciate it a lot! And Irving basically is a Breaking Bad/BCS character who wandered into this story lmao
